SAGRADA BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Salmo. Louvai o Senhor porque ele é bom; cantai ao nosso Deus porque ele é amável, e o louvor lhe convém.	1 Al eluia! Praise Yahweh -- it is good to sing psalms to our God -- how pleasant to praise him.
2 O Senhor reconstrói Jerusalém, e congrega os dispersos de Israel.	2 Yahweh, Builder of Jerusalem! He gathers together the exiles of Israel,
3 Ele cura os que têm o coração ferido, e pensa-lhes as chagas.	3 healing the broken-hearted and binding up their wounds;
4 É ele que fixa o número das estrelas, e designa cada uma por seu nome.	4 he counts out the number of the stars, and gives each one of them a name.
5 Grande é o Senhor nosso e poderosa a sua força; sua sabedoria não tem limites.	5 Our Lord is great, al -powerful, his wisdom beyond al telling.
6 O Senhor eleva os humildes, mas abate os ímpios até a terra.	6 Yahweh sustains the poor, and humbles the wicked to the ground.
7 Cantai ao Senhor um cântico de gratidão, cantai ao nosso Deus com a harpa.	7 Sing to Yahweh in thanksgiving, play the harp for our God.
8 A ele que cobre os céus de nuvens, que faz cair a chuva à terra; a ele que faz crescer a relva nas montanhas, e germinar plantas úteis para o homem.	8 He veils the sky with clouds, and provides the earth with rain, makes grass grow on the hills andplants for people to use,
9 Que dá sustento aos rebanhos, aos filhotes dos corvos que por ele clamam.	9 gives fodder to cattle and to young ravens when they cry.
10 Não é o vigor do cavalo que lhe agrada, nem ele se compraz nos jarretes do corredor.	10 He takes no delight in the power of horses, no pleasure in human sturdiness;
11 Agradam ao Senhor somente os que o temem, e confiam em sua misericórdia.	11 his pleasure is in those who fear him, in those who hope in his faithful love.
12 Salmo. Louva, ó Jerusalém, ao Senhor; louva o teu Deus, ó Sião,	12 Praise Yahweh, Jerusalem, Zion, praise your God.
13 porque ele reforçou os ferrolhos de tuas portas, e abençoou teus filhos em teu seio.	13 For he gives strength to the bars of your gates, he blesses your children within you,
14 Estabeleceu a paz em tuas fronteiras, e te nutre com a flor do trigo.	14 he maintains the peace of your frontiers, gives you your fil of finest wheat.
15 Ele revelou sua palavra a Jacó, e aí ela corre velozmente.	15 He sends his word to the earth, his command runs quickly,
16 Ele faz cair a neve como lã, espalha a geada, como cinza.	16 he spreads the snow like flax, strews hoarfrost like ashes,
17 Atira o seu granizo como migalhas de pão, diante de seu frio as águas se congelam.	17 he sends ice-crystals like breadcrumbs, and who can withstand that cold?
18 À sua ordem, porém, elas se derretem; faz soprar o vento e as águas correm de novo.	18 When he sends his word it thaws them, when he makes his wind blow, the waters are unstopped.
19 Ele revelou sua palavra a Jacó, sua lei e seus preceitos a Israel.	19 He reveals his word to Jacob, his statutes and judgements to Israel.
20 Com nenhum outro povo agiu assim, a nenhum deles manifestou seus mandamentos.	20 For no other nation has he done this, no other has known his judgements.
