Prima lettera ai Corinzi 11

LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Fatevi miei imitatori come io lo sono di Cristo.	1 Take me as your pattern, just as I take Christ for mine.
2 Vi lodo poi perché vi ricordate molto di me, e conservate le tradizioni come ve le ho trasmesse.	2 I congratulate you for remembering me so consistently and for maintaining the traditions exactly as Ipassed them on to you.
3 Voglio però che sappiate che capo di ogni uomo è Cristo, e capo della donna è l'uomo, e capo di Cristo è Dio.	3 But I should like you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man,and the head of Christ is God.
4 Ogni uomo che prega o profetizza con il capo coperto, manca di riguardo al suo capo.	4 For any man to pray or to prophesy with his head covered shows disrespect for his head.
5 Così ogni donna che prega o profetizza senza velo sul capo, manca di riguardo al suo capo, come se fosse rasa;	5 And for a woman to pray or prophesy with her head uncovered shows disrespect for her head; it isexactly the same as if she had her hair shaved off.
6 che se una donna non si copre, si tagli pure i capelli; ma se è vergogna per una donna tagliarsi i capelli o essere rasa, allora si copra.	6 Indeed, if a woman does go without a veil, she should have her hair cut off too; but if it is a shamefulthing for a woman to have her hair cut off or shaved off, then she should wear a veil.
7 L'uomo non deve coprirsi il capo, essendo immagine e gloria di Dio, mentre la donna è gloria dell'uomo.	7 But for a man it is not right to have his head covered, since he is the image of God and reflects God'sglory; but woman is the reflection of man's glory.
8 Poiché non l'uomo deriva dalla donna, ma la donna dall'uomo;	8 For man did not come from woman; no, woman came from man;
9 né l'uomo fu creato per la donna, ma la donna per l'uomo.	9 nor was man created for the sake of woman, but woman for the sake of man:
10 Per questo la donna deve portare un segno di dipendenza sul capo, a motivo degli angeli.	10 and this is why it is right for a woman to wear on her head a sign of the authority over her, becauseof the angels.
11 Tuttavia, nel Signore, né la donna è senza l'uomo, né l'uomo è senza la donna;	11 However, in the Lord, though woman is nothing without man, man is nothing without woman;
12 se infatti la donna deriva dall'uomo, anche l'uomo ha vita dalla donna, e tutto proviene da Dio.	12 and though woman came from man, so does every man come from a woman, and everything comesfrom God.
13 Giudicatene voi stessi: è conveniente che una donna faccia preghiera a Dio col capo scoperto?	13 Decide for yourselves: does it seem fitting that a woman should pray to God without a veil?
14 E non ci insegna la natura stessa che è indecoroso per un uomo lasciarsi crescere i capelli,	14 Does not nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him,
15 mentre è onorifico per una donna lasciarseli crescere? La chioma è data a lei a guisa di velo.	15 but when a woman has long hair, it is her glory? After all, her hair was given to her to be a covering.
16 Che se alcuno vuole contestare, noi non abbiamo questa consuetudine e neanche le chiese di Dio.	16 If anyone wants to be contentious, I say that we have no such custom, nor do any of the churches ofGod.
17 E mentre vi do questi ordini, non posso lodarvi, perché le vostre riunioni non sono per vostro vantaggio, ma per vostro danno.	17 Now that I am on the subject of instructions, I cannot congratulate you on the meetings you hold;they do more harm than good.
18 Sento innanzi tutto che, quando vi radunate in assemblea, vi sono divisioni tra voi; e in parte lo credo.	18 In the first place, I hear that when you al come together in your assembly, there are separatefactions among you, and to some extent I believe it.
19 E' necessario infatti che avvengano anche divisioni tra di voi, affinché si manifestino quelli che sono di virtù provata in mezzo a voi.	19 It is no bad thing, either, that there should be differing groups among you so that those who are to betrusted among you can be clearly recognised.
20 Quando dunque vi radunate insieme, il vostro non è un mangiare la cena del Signore.	20 So, when you meet together, it is not the Lord's Supper that you eat;
21 Infatti ciascuno, partecipando alla cena, mangia prima il proprio pasto, e così l'uno ha fame e l'altro è ubriaco.	21 for when the eating begins, each one of you has his own supper first, and there is one going hungrywhile another is getting drunk.
22 Non avete forse le vostre case per mangiare e bere? O volete gettare il disprezzo sulla chiesa di Dio e fare arrossire chi non ha niente? Che debbo dirvi? Devo lodarvi? In questo non vi lodo!	22 Surely you have homes for doing your eating and drinking in? Or have you such disregard for God'sassembly that you can put to shame those who have nothing? What am I to say to you? Congratulate you? Onthis I cannot congratulate you.
23 Io ho ricevuto dal Signore quello che vi ho trasmesso: che il Signore Gesù, nella notte in cui fu tradito, prese del pane	23 For the tradition I received from the Lord and also handed on to you is that on the night he wasbetrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread,
24 e, reso grazie, lo spezzò e disse: "Questo è il mio corpo, che è per voi; fate questo in memoria di me".	24 and after he had given thanks, he broke it, and he said, 'This is my body, which is for you; do this inremembrance of me.'
25 Allo stesso modo, dopo avere cenato, prese anche il calice dicendo: "Questo calice è la nuova alleanza nel mio sangue; fate questo, tutte le volte che ne berrete, in memoria di me".	25 And in the same way, with the cup after supper, saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in my blood.Whenever you drink it, do this as a memorial of me.'
26 Quindi tutte le volte che voi mangiate questo pane e bevete a questo calice, annunziate la morte del Signore, finché egli venga.	26 Whenever you eat this bread, then, and drink this cup, you are proclaiming the Lord's death until hecomes.
27 Perciò chiunque mangia il pane o beve al calice del Signore indegnamente, è reo del corpo e del sangue del Signore.	27 Therefore anyone who eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily is answerable for thebody and blood of the Lord.
28 Ciascuno esamini se stesso e poi mangi il pane e beva il calice;	28 Everyone is to examine himself and only then eat of the bread or drink from the cup;
29 perché chi mangia e beve senza discernere il corpo, mangia e beve la sua condanna.	29 because a person who eats and drinks without recognising the body is eating and drinking his owncondemnation.
30 E' per questo che tra voi vi sono molti malati e infermi e un buon numero sono morti.	30 That is why many of you are weak and il and a good number have died.
31 Che se ci esaminassimo noi stessi, non verremmo giudicati;	31 If we were critical of ourselves we would not be condemned,
32 ma, messi sull'avviso dal Signore, veniamo corretti, per non essere poi condannati insieme al mondo.	32 but when we are judged by the Lord, we are corrected by the Lord to save us from being condemnedalong with the world.
33 Quindi, o miei fratelli, quando vi radunate per la cena, aspettatevi gli uni gli altri.	33 So then, my brothers, when you meet for the Meal, wait for each other;
34 E se qualcuno ha fame, mangi a casa, onde non vi raduniate per vostra condanna. Quanto al resto darò disposizioni quando verrò.	34 anyone who is hungry should eat at home. Then your meeting wil not bring your condemnation. Theother matters I shal arrange when I come.
