Deuteronomio 11

LA SACRA BIBBIA	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 Amerai il Signore tuo Dio e custodirai le sue leggi, le sue prescrizioni, i suoi decreti e i suoi precetti ogni giorno.	1 “And so, love the Lord your God, and observe his precepts and ceremonies, his judgments and commandments, at all times.
2 Oggi voi conoscete, e non i vostri figli, che non hanno conosciuto e visto le lezioni del Signore vostro Dio, la sua grandezza, la sua mano forte e il suo braccio teso:	2 Acknowledge, on this day, the things that your sons did not know. For they did not see the chastisements of the Lord your God, his great acts, and powerful hand, and outstretched arm,
3 i segni e le opere che ha compiuto in mezzo all'Egitto contro il faraone, re d'Egitto, e contro tutta la sua terra,	3 the signs and works that he did in the midst of Egypt, to Pharaoh, the king, and to his entire land,
4 ciò che ha fatto all'esercito d'Egitto, ai suoi cavalli e ai suoi carri, facendo rifluire su di essi le acque del Mar Rosso mentre vi stavano inseguendo, e li ha annientati fino ad oggi;	4 and to the entire army of the Egyptians, and to their horses and chariots: how the waters of the Red Sea covered them as they were pursuing you, and how the Lord wiped them away, even to the present day;
5 quanto fece per voi nel deserto fino al vostro arrivo in questo luogo,	5 and the things that he accomplished for you in the wilderness, until you arrived at this place;
6 ciò che fece a Datan e Abiram, figli di Eliab, figlio di Ruben, quando la terra aprì la sua bocca e li inghiottì con le famiglie, le tende e ciò che apparteneva ad essi, in mezzo a tutto Israele;	6 and to Dathan and Abiram, sons of Eliab, who was the son of Reuben, those whom the earth, opening its mouth, engulfed with their households and tents, and with their entire substance which they had in the midst of Israel.
7 i vostri occhi hanno visto tutte le grandi opere che il Signore ha compiuto.	7 Your eyes have seen all the great works of the Lord, which he has accomplished,
8 Osserverete tutto l'ordinamento che oggi vi prescrivo, perché siate forti e andiate a conquistare la terra in cui passate per conquistarla,	8 so that you would keep all his commandments, which I entrust to you this day, and so that you would be able to enter and possess the land, toward which you are advancing,
9 affinché prolunghiate i vostri giorni sul suolo che il Signore ha giurato ai vostri padri di dare loro e alla loro discendenza, terra dove scorre latte e miele.	9 and so that you may live, for a long time, in the land which the Lord promised under oath to your fathers, and to their offspring, a land flowing with milk and honey.
10 Poiché la terra che tu vai a conquistare non è come la terra d'Egitto, donde siete usciti, dove seminavi la tua semente e poi la irrigavi con il piede come un giardino da erbaggi.	10 For the land, which you shall enter and possess, is not like the land of Egypt, from which you departed, where, when seed has been sown, waters are brought in by irrigation, in the manner of gardens.
11 Invece la terra che andate a conquistare è una terra di montagne e di valli, che si disseta di acqua con la pioggia del cielo;	11 Rather, it has mountainous regions and plains, which lay waiting for rain from heaven.
12 una terra di cui il Signore tuo Dio ha cura: continuamente sono su di essa gli occhi del Signore tuo Dio, dall'inizio dell'anno fino al suo termine.	12 And the Lord your God always visits it, and his eyes are upon it, from the beginning of the year, all the way to its end.
13 Se veramente ascolterete i precetti che oggi vi prescrivo, amando il Signore vostro Dio e servendolo con tutto il vostro cuore e con tutta la vostra anima,	13 So then, if you obey my commandments, which I am instructing to you this day, so that you love the Lord your God, and serve him with your whole heart and your whole soul,
14 darò la pioggia alla vostra terra al suo tempo, la prima pioggia e l'ultima, così raccoglierai il tuo frumento, il tuo mosto e il tuo olio,	14 he will give to your land the early rain and the late rain, so that you may gather your grain, and your wine, and your oil,
15 e darò erba al tuo campo per il tuo bestiame: tu mangerai e ti sazierai.	15 and your hay from the fields in order to feed your cattle, and so that you yourselves may eat and be satisfied.
16 Badate a voi, che non sia sedotto il vostro cuore, deviando, servendo altri dèi e prostrandovi innanzi a loro:	16 Be careful, lest perhaps your heart may be deceived, and you might withdraw from the Lord, and serve strange gods, and adore them.
17 si accenderebbe l'ira del Signore contro di voi, chiuderebbe il cielo, non vi sarebbe più pioggia, il suolo non darebbe più i suoi prodotti e perireste presto dalla buona terra che il Signore vi dona.	17 And the Lord, becoming angry, might close up heaven, so that the rain would not descend, nor would the earth produce her seedlings, and then you would quickly perish from the excellent land, which the Lord will give to you.
18 Porrete queste mie parole sul vostro cuore e sulla vostra anima, le legherete come segno sulle vostre mani e saranno come un pendaglio tra i vostri occhi.	18 Place these words of mine in your hearts and minds, and hang them as a sign on your hands, and arrange them between your eyes.
19 Le insegnerete ai vostri figli, parlandone quando ti trovi in casa, quando cammini per strada, quando sei coricato e quando sei in piedi;	19 Teach your sons to meditate on them, when you sit in your house, and when you walk along the way, and when you lie down or rise up.
20 le scriverai sugli stipiti della tua casa e sulle tue porte:	20 You shall write them upon the doorposts and the gates of your house,
21 perché si prolunghino i vostri giorni e i giorni dei vostri figli come i giorni del cielo sopra la terra, sul suolo che il Signore ha giurato ai vostri padri di dar loro.	21 so that your days may be multiplied, and the days of your sons, in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, that he would give it to them for as long as heaven is suspended above the earth.
22 Poiché se veramente osserverete tutti questi ordini che vi prescrivo di praticare, amando il Signore vostro Dio, camminando in tutte le sue vie e aderendo a lui,	22 For if you keep the commandments which I am entrusting to you, and if you do them, so that you love the Lord your God, and walk in all his ways, clinging to him,
23 il Signore spossesserà tutte quelle nazioni innanzi a voi e voi conquisterete nazioni più grandi e forti di voi.	23 the Lord will scatter all these nations before your face, and you shall possess them, though they are greater and stronger than you.
24 Vostro sarà ogni luogo che la pianta dei vostri piedi calcherà; i vostri confini si estenderanno dal deserto al Libano, dal fiume, il fiume Eufrate, al Mare Mediterraneo.	24 Every place upon which your foot shall tread will be yours. From the desert, and from Lebanon, from the great river Euphrates, as far as the western sea, shall be your borders.
25 Non resisterà alcuno dinanzi a te; il Signore vostro Dio getterà il terrore e lo spavento di voi su tutta la faccia della terra che voi calcherete, come vi ha detto.	25 No one will stand against you. The Lord your God will spread the terror and dread of you over all the land upon which you shall tread, just as he has spoken to you.
26 Vedi, io pongo oggi innanzi a voi benedizione e maledizione:	26 Behold, I am setting forth in your sight today a blessing and a curse.
27 benedizione se obbedirete ai precetti del Signore vostro Dio, che vi prescrivo oggi;	27 It will be a blessing, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I am instructing to you this day.
28 maledizione se non obbedirete ai precetti del Signore vostro Dio e devierete dal cammino che vi prescrivo oggi, seguendo altri dèi che non avete conosciuto.	28 It will be a curse, if you do not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but instead you withdraw from the way, which I am revealing to you now, and you walk after foreign gods that you have not known.
29 Quando il Signore tuo Dio ti avrà condotto nella terra che vai a conquistare, tu porrai la benedizione sul monte Garizim e la maledizione sul monte Ebal.	29 Yet truly, when the Lord your God will have led you into the land, to which you are traveling for a habitation, you shall place the blessing upon Mount Gerizim, the curse upon Mount Ebal,
30 Essi non si trovano forse al di là del Giordano, dietro il cammino del tramonto del sole, nella terra del Cananeo che abita l'Araba, di fronte a Gàlgala presso le Querce di More?	30 which are across the Jordan, behind the way which slopes toward the setting of the sun, in the land of the Canaanite, who lives in the plains opposite Gilgal, which is near the valley extending toward and entering a distant place.
31 Voi infatti state per attraversare il Giordano per andare a conquistare la terra che il Signore vostro Dio vi dona: voi la conquisterete e dimorerete in essa,	31 For you shall cross over the Jordan, so that you may possess the land which the Lord your God will give you, so that you may have it and possess it.
32 e baderete di eseguire tutte le prescrizioni e i decreti che oggi vi espongo.	32 Therefore, see to it that you fulfill the ceremonies and judgments, which I am placing in your sight this day.”
