Isaia 47

LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Scendi, siediti nella polvere, o vergine, figlia di Babilonia! Siediti sulla terra, senza trono, figlia dei Caldei! Perché non sarai più chiamata tenera e delicata.	1 Step down! Sit in the dust, virgin daughter of Babylon. Sit on the ground, no throne, daughter of theChaldaeans, for never again will you be cal ed tender and delicate.
2 Prendi la mola e macina la farina! Rimuovi il tuo velo, scopri lo strascico, denuda le gambe, attraversa i fiumi!	2 Take the grinding mil , crush up the meal. Remove your veil, tie up your skirt, bare your legs, cross therivers.
3 La tua nudità sarà scoperta, e apparirà il tuo obbrobrio. Farò vendetta e nessuno intercederà.	3 Let your nakedness be displayed and your shame exposed. I am going to take vengeance and no onewil stand in my way.
4 Il nostro redentore, il cui nome è Signore degli eserciti, il Santo d'Israele, dice:	4 Our redeemer, Yahweh Sabaoth is his name, the Holy One of Israel, says:
5 "Siedi silenziosa ed entra nelle tenebre, figlia dei Caldei, perché non sarai più chiamata signora dei regni!".	5 Sit in silence, bury yourself in darkness, daughter of the Chaldaeans, for never again wil you be cal edthe mistress of kingdoms.
6 Mi sono adirato contro il mio popolo, ho profanato la mia eredità; li ho consegnati in tuo potere, ma tu non hai dimostrato loro pietà. Sugli anziani facesti pesare il tuo giogo enormemente.	6 Being angry with my people, I rejected my heritage, surrendering them into your clutches. You showedthem no mercy, you made your yoke very heavy on the aged.
7 Tu pensavi: "Sarò per sempre, sarò sovrana in perpetuo". Non hai considerato queste cose, non hai meditato sul loro seguito.	7 You thought, 'I shal be a queen for ever.' You did not reflect on these matters or think about the future.
8 Ed ora ascolta questo, o voluttuosa, che riposi sicura, che pensi in cuor tuo: "Io e nessun altro! Non rimarrò vedova, non conoscerò la mancanza di figli!".	8 Now listen to this, voluptuous woman, lolling at ease and thinking to yourself, 'I am the only one whomatters. I shal never be widowed, never know bereavement.'
9 Queste due cose piomberanno su di te, istantaneamente, in un sol giorno: mancanza di figli e vedovanza verranno a te in piena misura, malgrado l'abbondanza dei tuoi sortilegi e la potenza dei tuoi numerosi scongiuri.	9 Yet both these things wil befall you, suddenly, in one day. Bereavement and widowhood wil suddenlybefal you in spite of al your witchcraft and the potency of your spel s.
10 Confidavi nella tua malizia e dicevi: "Nessuno mi vede". La tua sapienza e la tua scienza ti hanno fuorviato. Eppure tu pensavi nel tuo cuore: "Io e nessun altro".	10 Confident in your wickedness, you thought, 'No one can see me.' Your wishes and your knowledgewere what deluded you, as you thought to yourself, 'I am the only one who matters.'
11 Ti sopraggiungerà la disgrazia che tu non potrai scongiurare; cadrà su di te la rovina che non potrai evitare; verrà su di te all'istante la catastrofe, che non hai previsto.	11 Hence, disaster wil befal you which you wil not know how to charm away, calamity overtake youwhich you wil not be able to avert, ruination will suddenly befal you, such as you have never known.
12 Rimani con i tuoi incantesimi e con la moltitudine dei tuoi sortilegi, per i quali ti sei affaticata sin dalla giovinezza: forse te ne potrai giovare, forse ti renderai terribile!	12 Keep to your spel s then, and al your sorceries, at which you have worked so hard since you wereyoung. Perhaps you wil succeed, perhaps you wil strike terror!
13 Ti sei stancata per i tuoi molti consiglieri: si presentino, e ti salvino quelli che misurano il cielo, che contemplano le stelle e pronosticano ogni mese ciò che ti accadrà.	13 You have had many tiring consultations: let the astrologers come forward now and save you, the star-gazers who announce month by month what wil happen to you next.
14 Ecco, sono diventati come paglia; il fuoco li ha bruciati! Non salveranno le loro persone dal potere della fiamma. Ma non sono braci per cuocere il pane né focolare per sedervisi davanti.	14 Look, they are like wisps of straw, the fire wil burn them up. They will not save their lives from thepower of the flame. No embers these, for keeping warm, no fire to sit beside!
15 Così sono stati per te i tuoi incantatori, con i quali ti sei affaticata sin dalla giovinezza. Ognuno erra per conto suo, non c'è nessuno che ti salvi!	15 Such wil your wizards prove to be for you, for whom you have worked so hard since you were young;each wandering his own way, none of them can save you.
