Isaia 26

LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 In quel giorno si canterà questo canto nel paese di Giuda: "Abbiamo una città potente, a salvezza nostra ha eretto mura e baluardo.	1 That day, this song wil be sung in Judah: 'We have a fortress city, the wal s and ramparts providesafety.
2 Aprite le porte ed entri una nazione giusta, che mantiene la fedeltà!	2 Open the gates! Let the upright nation come in, the nation that keeps faith!
3 Il suo proposito è fermo, tu gli assicuri la pace, perché confida in te.	3 This is the plan decreed: you wil guarantee peace, the peace entrusted to you.
4 Confidate nel Signore sempre, perché il Signore è una roccia perpetua,	4 Trust in Yahweh for ever, for Yahweh is a rock for ever.
5 perché ha abbattuto quanti abitavano in alto; la città elevata l'ha umiliata, l'ha umiliata fino a terra, l'ha gettata nella polvere.	5 He has brought low the dwel ers on the heights, the lofty citadel; he lays it low, brings it to the ground,flings it down in the dust.
6 I piedi la calpestano, i piedi del misero, i passi dei poveri".	6 It wil be trodden under foot, by the feet of the needy, the steps of the weak.'
7 Il cammino del giusto è retto, tu appiani la via del giusto.	7 The path of the Upright One is honesty; you smooth the honest way of the upright.
8 Sì, nella via dei tuoi giudizi, o Signore, noi speriamo in te! Il tuo nome e la tua memoria sono l'aspirazione dell'anima.	8 Fol owing the path of your judgements, Yahweh, we set our hopes in you, your name, your memory areal our soul desires.
9 L'anima mia anela a te di notte, anche il mio spirito nel mio intimo ti cerca. Perché quando i tuoi giudizi appaiono sulla terra, gli abitanti del mondo apprendono la giustizia.	9 At night my soul longs for you and my spirit within me seeks you out; for when your judgements appearon earth the inhabitants of the world learn what saving justice is.
10 Se si fa grazia all'iniquo, egli non apprende la giustizia; sulla terra del bene, egli opera il male e non riconosce la maestà del Signore.	10 If pity is shown to the wicked without his learning what saving justice is, he wil act wrongly in the landof right conduct and not see the majesty of Yahweh.
11 Signore, eccelsa è la tua mano, ma essi non vedono! Vedano, arrossendo, la tua gelosia per il popolo, anzi il fuoco dei tuoi nemici li divori!	11 Yahweh, your hand is raised but they do not see! The antagonists of your people will look and growpale; with your fiery wrath you wil devour your enemies.
12 Signore, tu ci procurerai la pace, perché ogni nostra azione tu la compi per noi.	12 Yahweh, you wil grant us peace, having completed al our undertakings for us.
13 Signore, nostro Dio, altri signori, all'infuori di te, ci hanno dominato; ma soltanto te noi invochiamo, il tuo nome!	13 Yahweh our God, other lords than you have ruled us but, loyal to you alone, we invoke your name.
14 I morti non rivivranno, le ombre non risorgeranno, perché li hai puniti e distrutti, hai fatto sparire ogni loro memoria.	14 The dead wil not come back to life, the shadows wil not rise again, for you have punished them,annihilated them, wiping out their very memory.
15 Hai accresciuto la nazione, o Signore, hai accresciuto la nazione, ti sei glorificato, hai esteso tutti i confini del paese.	15 You have made the nation larger, Yahweh, made the nation larger and won yourself glory, you haverol ed back the frontiers of the country.
16 Signore, ti abbiamo cercato nella tribolazione, l'angoscia dell'oppressione è stata il tuo castigo per noi,	16 Yahweh, in distress they had recourse to you, they expended themselves in prayer, since yourpunishment was on them.
17 come una partoriente in procinto di generare si contorce e grida per il dolore, così siamo noi al tuo cospetto, o Signore!	17 As a pregnant woman near her time of delivery writhes and cries out in her pangs, so have we been,Yahweh, in your eyes:
18 Abbiamo concepito, abbiamo sentito le doglie, come se dovessimo partorire: era solo vento! Non abbiamo portato la salvezza alla terra e non nacquero abitanti del mondo!	18 we have been pregnant, we have writhed, but we have given birth only to wind: we have not givensalvation to the earth, no inhabitants for the world have been brought to birth.
19 I tuoi morti rivivranno, i loro cadaveri risorgeranno, si risveglieranno ed esulteranno quelli che giacciono nella polvere, perché la tua rugiada è una rugiada luminosa, e la terra darà alla luce le ombre.	19 Your dead will come back to life, your corpses wil rise again. Wake up and sing, you dwel ers in thedust, for your dew wil be a radiant dew, but the earth will give birth to the shades.
20 Va', popolo mio, entra nelle tue camere e chiudi i battenti dietro a te! Nasconditi per un istante, finché non sia passata la collera.	20 Go, my people, go to your private room, shut yourselves in. Hide yourselves a little while until theretribution has passed.
21 Perché, ecco, il Signore esce dalla sua dimora per punire l'iniquità degli abitanti della terra, la terra scoprirà il suo sangue e non nasconderà più i suoi uccisi.	21 For see, Yahweh emerges from his dwel ing to punish the inhabitants of earth for their guilt; and theearth will reveal the blood shed on it and no longer hide its slain.
