Abacuc 2

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 - Ed ora sto fermo in vedetta, mi tengo in piedi sul baluardo e osserverò, per vedere ciò che mi si dirà, e come rispondere a colui che mi redarguisce.	1 I will stand at my guard post, and station myself upon the rampart, And keep watch to see what he will say to me, and what answer he will give to my complaint.
2 E il Signore mi rispose e disse: - Scrivi la visione e stendila sopra tavolette, affinchè la possa scorrere bene chi la leggerà.	2 Then the LORD answered me and said: Write down the vision Clearly upon the tablets, so that one can read it readily.
3 Perchè la visione è lungi ed apparirà alla fine e non mentirà; se indugia aspettala, che certamente verrà e non differirà.	3 For the vision still has its time, presses on to fulfillment, and will not disappoint; If it delays, wait for it, it will surely come, it will not be late.
4 Ecco chi è incredulo non ha in se stesso anima retta, e il giusto nella sua fede vivrà.	4 The rash man has no integrity; but the just man, because of his faith, shall live. Wealth, too, is treacherous: the proud, unstable man--
5 Or, come il vino tradisce l'uomo, così fa l'orgoglio coll'uomo superbo, e non conserverà la sua dignità costui che allargò le sue brame come le fauci degli Inferi, ed è, come la morte, insaziabile; riunir vorrebbe sotto di sè tutte le genti e tutti insieme ammassare i popoli!	5 He who opens wide his throat like the nether world, and is insatiable as death, Who gathers to himself all the nations, and rallies to himself all the peoples--
6 Ma tutti costoro non lo metteranno essi in proverbio, con un linguaggio da beffa? E si dirà: ''Guai a chi accumula roba non sua!''. E fino a quando durerà a caricarsi addosso denso fango?	6 Shall not all these take up a taunt against him, satire and epigrams about him, to say: Woe to him who stores up what is not his: how long can it last! he loads himself down with debts.
7 E non sorgeranno improvvisamente coloro che ti mordono, e non si leveranno coloro che ti faranno a brani, e ti faranno loro preda?	7 Shall not your creditors rise suddenly? Shall not they who make you tremble awake? You shall become their spoil!
8 Perchè tu hai spogliato molte genti, spoglieranno te quanti saranno rimasti di quei popoli; a cagione del sangue umano sparso e della crudeltà usata alla terra, alla città e a tutti i suoi abitanti.	8 Because you despoiled many peoples all the rest of the nations shall despoil you; Because of men's blood shed, and violence done to the land, to the city and to all who dwell in it.
9 Guai a colui che raduna in casa sua rapina di malacquisto, per collocare in alto il suo nido, credendo di sfuggire agli artigli del male!	9 Woe to him who pursues evil gain for his household, setting his nest on high to escape the reach of misfortune!
10 Tu hai determinato la confusione della tua casa, hai distrutto tanti popoli e l'anima tua ha peccato;	10 You have devised shame for your household, cutting off many peoples, forfeiting your own life:
11 perchè dalle muraglie la pietra griderà e il legname dalle travature risponderà.	11 For the stone in the wall shall cry out, and the beam in the woodwork shall answer it!
12 Guai a chi edifica la città col sangue e allestisce la borgata coll'iniquità!	12 Woe to him who builds a city by bloodshed, and establishes a town by wickedness!
13 Ma non sono forse dal Signore degli eserciti queste cose? I popoli si affanneranno per dare pasto abbondante al fuoco e le nazioni per un niente, e si stancheranno;	13 Is not this from the LORD of hosts: peoples toil for the flames, and nations grow weary for nought!
14 perchè la terra sarà piena di ciò che farà conoscere loro la gloria del Signore, come le acque che ricoprono il fondo del mare.	14 But the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the LORD'S glory as water covers the sea.
15 Guai a colui che dà da bere al suo amico mescendogli il suo fiele e ubriacandolo, affine di godere lo spettacolo della sua nudità!	15 Woe to you who give your neighbors a flood of your wrath to drink, and make them drunk, till their nakedness is seen!
16 E tu hai goduto a satollarti d'ignominia invece che di gloria; bevi dunque anche tu e rimani assopito; verrà il turno del calice della destra del Signore anche sopra di te e il vomito stomachevole sulla tua gloria.	16 You are filled with shame instead of glory; drink, you too, and stagger! On you shall revert the cup from the LORD'S right hand, and utter shame on your glory.
17 Perchè la violenza esercitata contro il Libano ti coinvolgerà, e la strage degli animali li spaventerà, a causa del sangue umano sparso e delle iniquità esercitate contro la terra e la città e contro tutti i suoi abitanti.	17 For the violence done to Lebanon shall cover you, and the destruction of the beasts shall terrify you; Because of men's blood shed, and violence done to the land, to the city and to all who dwell in it.
18 A che può giovare una statua che modellata dal suo artefice è stata fusa, un'immagine bugiarda? Il modellatore pone le sue speranze in quella stessa modellatura, in quegli idoli muti che sta facendo!	18 Of what avail is the carved image, that its maker should carve it? Or the molten image and lying oracle, that its very maker should trust in it, and make dumb idols?
19 Guai a colui che dice al legno: Svegliati! e a un muto sasso: Riscuotiti!; potrà fare da insegnante esso? Ecco, è coperto di oro e d'argento, ma spirito nel suo interno non ce n'è affatto. -	19 Woe to him who says to wood, "Awake!" to dumb stone, "Arise!" Can such a thing give oracles? See, it is overlaid with gold and silver, but there is no life breath in it.
20 Il Signore invece è nel suo tempio santo: dinanzi a lui taccia tutta la terra».	20 But the LORD is in his holy temple; silence before him, all the earth!
