Amos 2

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Così dice il Signore: - Per tre misfatti di Moab e per quattro io più non gliela risparmierò: perchè hanno arso fino alla calcinazione le ossa del re di Edom.	1 Yahweh says this: For the three crimes, the four crimes of Moab, I have made my decree and will notrelent: because they have burnt the bones of the king of Edom to ash,
2 E metterò il fuoco a Moab e divorerà i palazzi di Cariot; e Moab perirà tra il tumulto e il fragor della tromba.	2 I shal send fire down into Moab to devour the palaces of Kerioth, and Moab will die in the tumult, amidwar cries and the blare of trumpets;
3 E sterminerò dal suo mezzo il giudice, e ucciderò con lui tutti i suoi principi, - dice il Signore.	3 I shal destroy the ruler there and slaughter al the chief men there with him, says Yahweh.
4 Così dice il Signore: - Per tre misfatti di Giuda e per quattro io più non gliela risparmierò: perchè hanno rigettata la legge di Dio, e non hanno osservato i suoi comandamenti tratti nell'errore dai loro idoli, dietro ai quali andavano già i loro padri.	4 Yahweh says this: For the three crimes, the four crimes of Judah, I have made my decree and wil notrelent: because they have despised Yahweh's law and not kept his commandments, since their Falsehoods,which their ancestors followed, have led them astray,
5 E metterò il fuoco in Giuda e divorerà i palazzi di Gerusalemme, - dice il Signore.	5 I shal send fire down on Judah to devour the palaces of Jerusalem.
6 Così dice il Signore: - Per tre misfatti d'Israele e per quattro io più non gliela risparmierò: perchè hanno venduto il giusto per il denaro; e il povero per un paio di sandali.	6 Yahweh says this: For the three crimes, the four crimes of Israel, I have made my decree and wil notrelent: because they have sold the upright for silver and the poor for a pair of sandals,
7 Calpestano al suolo nella polvere la testa dei poveri e attraversano la strada ai meschini, e figlio e padre frequentarono la stessa ragazza, a profanazione del mio santo nome.	7 because they have crushed the heads of the weak into the dust and thrust the rights of the oppressedto one side, father and son sleeping with the same girl and thus profaning my holy name,
8 E sopra vestimenta prese in pegno si sono coricati a fianco d'un altare; e il prezzo delle condanne se lo bevevano in vino nella casa del loro Dio.	8 lying down beside every altar on clothes acquired as pledges, and drinking the wine of the people theyhave fined in the house of their god.
9 Eppure io ho sterminato dinanzi a loro l'Amorreo che agli alti cedri era simile in altezza, ch'era robusto al pari d'una quercia; io maciullai i suoi frutti al di sopra e le sue radici al di sotto.	9 Yet it was I who destroyed the Amorite before them, he who was as tal as the cedars, as strong as theoaks; I who destroyed his fruit above ground and his roots below.
10 Sono io che vi ho fatto salire dalla terra d'Egitto, e che vi ho condotto quarant'anni pel deserto a prendere possesso della terra dell'Amorreo:	10 It was I who brought you up from Egypt and for forty years led you through the desert to takepossession of the Amorite's country;
11 e che dai vostri figliuoli ho fatto sorgere profeti, e nazarei dai vostri giovani. Non è forse così, o figli d'Israele? dice il Signore.	11 I who raised up prophets from your sons and Nazirites from your young men. Israelites, is this nottrue? -declares Yahweh!
12 Ma voi offrirete vino a bere ai nazarei, e darete ordine ai profeti dicendo: "Non profetate più!".	12 But you have made the Nazirite drink wine and given orders to the prophets, 'Do not prophesy.'
13 Ecco, ch'io vi farò stridere come stride un carro carico di fieno.	13 Very wel ! Like a cart overloaded with sheaves I shall crush you where you stand;
14 E al veloce mancherà la forza di fuggire, e il gagliardo non ritroverà il suo vigore, e il valoroso non si salverà la vita;	14 flight wil be cut off for the swift, the strong will have no chance to exert his strength nor the warrior beable to save his life;
15 e il tiratore d'arco non resisterà, e l'uomo dai piè leggeri non scamperà, e il montatore di cavalli non avrà salva la vita,	15 the archer wil not stand his ground, the swift of foot wil not escape, nor will the horseman save hislife;
16 e il più intrepido di cuore tra i valorosi fuggirà nudo in quel giorno, - dice il Signore.	16 even the bravest of warriors will jettison his arms and run away, that day! -declares Yahweh!
