1 And one of the seven Angels, those who hold the seven bowls, approached and spoke with me, saying: “Come, I will show you the condemnation of the great harlot, who sits upon many waters.	1 Dann kam einer der sieben Engel, welche die sieben Schalen trugen, und sagte zu mir: Komm, ich zeige dir das Strafgericht über die große Hure, die an den vielen Gewässern sitzt.
2 With her, the kings of the earth have fornicated. And those who inhabit the earth have been inebriated by the wine of her prostitution.”	2 Denn mit ihr haben die Könige der Erde Unzucht getrieben und vom Wein ihrer Hurerei wurden die Bewohner der Erde betrunken.
3 And he carried me away in spirit to the desert. And I saw a woman sitting upon a scarlet beast, filled with names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.	3 Der Geist ergriff mich und der Engel entrückte mich in die Wüste. Dort sah ich eine Frau auf einem scharlachroten Tier sitzen, das über und über mit gotteslästerlichen Namen beschrieben war und sieben Köpfe und zehn Hörner hatte.
4 And the woman was clothed all around with purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, holding a golden cup in her hand, filled with the abomination and with the filth of her fornication.	4 Die Frau war in Purpur und Scharlach gekleidet und mit Gold, Edelsteinen und Perlen geschmückt. Sie hielt einen goldenen Becher in der Hand, der mit dem abscheulichen Schmutz ihrer Hurerei gefüllt war.
5 And a name was written upon her forehead: Mystery, Babylon the great, the mother of the fornications and the abominations of the earth.	5 Auf ihrer Stirn stand ein Name, ein geheimnisvoller Name: Babylon, die Große, die Mutter der Huren und aller Abscheulichkeiten der Erde.
6 And I saw that the woman was inebriated from the blood of the saints and from the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And I was amazed, when I had seen her, with a great wonder.	6 Und ich sah, dass die Frau betrunken war vom Blut der Heiligen und vom Blut der Zeugen Jesu. Beim Anblick der Frau ergriff mich großes Erstaunen.
7 And the Angel said to me: “Why do you wonder? I will tell you the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carries her, which has seven heads and ten horns.	7 Der Engel aber sagte zu mir: Warum bist du erstaunt? Ich will dir das Geheimnis der Frau enthüllen und das Geheimnis des Tieres mit den sieben Köpfen und zehn Hörnern, auf dem sie sitzt.
8 The beast that you saw, was, and is not, and is soon to ascend from the abyss. And he goes forth unto destruction. And the inhabitants upon the earth (those whose names have not been written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world) shall be amazed upon seeing the beast who was and is not.	8 Das Tier, das du gesehen hast, war einmal und ist jetzt nicht; es wird aber aus dem Abgrund heraufsteigen und dann ins Verderben gehen. Staunen werden die Bewohner der Erde, deren Namen seit der Erschaffung der Welt nicht im Buch des Lebens verzeichnet sind. Sie werden bei dem Anblick des Tieres staunen; denn es war einmal und ist jetzt nicht, wird aber wieder da sein.
9 And this is for one who understands, who has wisdom: the seven heads are seven mountains, upon which the woman sits, and they are seven kings.	9 Hier braucht man Verstand und Kenntnis. Die sieben Köpfe bedeuten die sieben Berge, auf denen die Frau sitzt. Sie bedeuten auch sieben Könige.
10 Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet arrived. And when he arrives, he must remain for a brief time.	10 Fünf sind bereits gefallen. Einer ist jetzt da, einer ist noch nicht gekommen; wenn er dann kommt, darf er nur kurze Zeit bleiben.
11 And the beast who was, and is not, the same is also the eighth, and he is of the seven, and he goes forth unto destruction.	11 Das Tier aber, das war und jetzt nicht ist, bedeutet einen achten König und ist doch einer von den sieben und wird ins Verderben gehen.
12 And the ten horns that you saw are ten kings; these have not yet received a kingdom, but they shall receive authority, as if they were kings, for one hour, after the beast.	12 Die zehn Hörner, die du gesehen hast, bedeuten zehn Könige, die noch nicht zur Herrschaft gekommen sind; sie werden aber königliche Macht für eine einzige Stunde erhalten, zusammen mit dem Tier.
13 These hold to one plan, and they shall hand over their power and authority to the beast.	13 Sie sind eines Sinnes und übertragen ihre Macht und Gewalt dem Tier.
14 These shall fight against the Lamb, and the Lamb shall conquer them. For he is the Lord of lords and the King of kings. And those who are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.”	14 Sie werden mit dem Lamm Krieg führen, aber das Lamm wird sie besiegen. Denn es ist der Herr der Herren und der König der Könige. Bei ihm sind die Berufenen, Auserwählten und Treuen.
15 And he said to me: “The waters that you saw, where the harlot sits, are peoples and nations and languages.	15 Und er sagte zu mir: Du hast die Gewässer gesehen, an denen die Hure sitzt; sie bedeuten Völker und Menschenmassen, Nationen und Sprachen.
16 And the ten horns that you saw on the beast, these shall hate the woman who fornicates, and they shall make her desolate and naked, and they shall chew her flesh, and they shall burn her completely with fire.	16 Du hast die zehn Hörner und das Tier gesehen; sie werden die Hure hassen, ihr alles wegnehmen, bis sie nackt ist, werden ihr Fleisch fressen und sie im Feuer verbrennen.
17 For God has granted to their hearts that they may do to her whatever is pleasing, so that they may give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God may be completed.	17 Denn Gott lenkt ihr Herz so, dass sie seinen Plan ausführen: Sie sollen einmütig handeln und ihre Herrschaft dem Tier übertragen, bis die Worte Gottes erfüllt sind.
18 And the woman that you saw is the great City, which holds a kingdom above that of the kings of the earth.”	18 Die Frau aber, die du gesehen hast, ist die große Stadt, die die Herrschaft hat über die Könige der Erde.
