1 And the second lot went out, for the sons of Simeon by their families. And their inheritance was,1 The second lot to come out was for Simeon, for the tribe of the sons of Simeon, by clans; their heritagewas within the heritage of the sons of Judah.
2 in the midst of the possession of the sons of Judah: Beersheba, and Sheba, and Moladah,2 As heritage, they received:
3 and Hazar-shual, Balah, and Ezem,3 Beersheba, Shema, Moladah,
4 and Eltolad, Bethul, and Hormah,4 Hazar-Shual, Balah, Ezem, Eltolad, Bethul, Hormah,
5 and Ziklag, and Beth-marcaboth, and Hazar-susah,5 Ziklag, Beth-ha-Marcaboth, Hazar-Susa,
6 and Bethlebaoth, and Sharuhen: thirteen cities, and their villages;6 Beth-Lebaoth and Sharuhen: thirteen towns and their vil ages.
7 Ain and Enrimmon, and Ether and Ashan: four cities, and their villages;7 Ain, Rimmon, Ether and Ashan: four towns and their villages,
8 all villages around these cities, as far as Baalath-beer, the high place facing the southern region. This is the inheritance of the sons of Simeon, according to their families,8 with al the vil ages situated near these towns as far as Baalath-Beer and Ramah of the Negeb. Suchwas the heritage of the tribe of the sons of Simeon, by clans.
9 within the possession and lot of the sons of Judah, which was greater. And for this reason, the sons of Simeon had a possession in the midst of their inheritance.9 The heritage of the sons of Simeon was taken out of the portion of the sons of Judah, because theshare of the sons of Judah was too large for them; hence, the sons of Simeon received their heritage within theheritage of the sons of Judah.
10 And the third lot fell to the sons of Zebulun, by their families; and the limit of their possession was set as far as Sarid.10 The third lot fel to the sons of Zebulun, by clans; the territory of their heritage stretched as far asSadud;
11 And it ascends from the sea and from Mareal. And it passes on to Dabbesheth, as far as the torrent, which is opposite Jokneam.11 their frontier climbed westwards to Maraalah, touching Dabbesheth and the torrent facing Jokneam.
12 And it turns back from Sarid, to the east, to the end of Chisloth-tabor. And it goes out to Daberath, and it ascends opposite Japhia.12 From Sadud, the frontier turned east, towards the rising sun, as far as the frontier of Chisloth-Tabor; itcame out at Dobrath and went up to Japhia.
13 And from there, it continues to the eastern region of Gathhepher and Ethkazin. And goes out to Rimmon, Amthar, and Neah.13 Thence, it went east, towards the sunrise, to Gath-Hepher and Ittah-Kazin, came out at Rimmon andturned towards Neah.
14 And it circles to the north at Hannathon. And its exits are at the Valley of Iphtahel;14 The northern frontier turned towards Hannathon and came to an end in the Val ey of Iphtah-El;
15 and Kattath and Nahalal, and Shimron and Idalah, and Bethlehem: twelve cities, and their villages.15 with Kattath, Nahalal, Shimron, Iralah and Bethlehem: twelve towns with their villages.
16 This is the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Zebulun, by their families, the cities and their villages.16 Such was the heritage of the sons of Zebulun, by clans: these towns with their vil ages.
17 The fourth lot went out to Issachar, by their families.17 The fourth lot came out for Issachar, for the sons of Issachar, by clans.
18 And his inheritance was: Jezreel, and Chesulloth, and Shunem,18 Their territory stretched towards Jezreel and included Chesul oth, Shunem,
19 and Hapharaim, and Shion, and Anaharath,19 Hapharaim, Shion, Anaharath,
20 and Rabbith and Kishion, Ebez20 Dobrath, Kishion, Ebez,
21 and Remeth, and Engannim, and Enhaddah, and Bethpazzez.21 Remeth, En-Gannim, En-Haddah and Beth-Pazzez.
22 And its limit reaches to Tabor and Shahazumah and Beth-shemesh; and its exits shall be at the Jordan: sixteen cities, and their villages.22 Their frontier touched Tabor, Shahazimah and Beth-Shemesh, and the frontier came to an end at theJordan: sixteen towns with their vil ages.
23 This is the possession of the sons of Issachar by their families, the cities and their villages.23 Such was the heritage of the tribe of the sons of Issachar, by clans: the towns and their vil ages.
24 And the fifth lot fell to the tribe of the sons of Asher, by their families.24 The fifth lot came out for the tribe of the sons of Asher, by clans.
25 And their border was: Helkath, and Hali, and Beten, and Achshaph,25 Their territory included Helkath, Hali, Beten, Achshaph,
26 and Allammelech, and Amad, and Mishal. And it extends even to Carmel by the sea, and Shihor, and Libnath.26 Alammelech, Amad and Mishal.
27 And it turns back toward the east at Bethdagon. And it continues on as far as Zebulun and the Valley of Iphtahel, toward the north, at Beth-emek and Neiel. And it goes out to the left of Cabul,27 On the west, it touched Carmel and the course of the Libnath. On the side of the rising sun, it went asfar as Beth-Dagon, touched Zebulun, the Val ey of Iphtah-El on the north side, Beth-ha-Emek and Neiel, comingout with Cabul on the left,
28 and to Ebron, and Rehob, and Hammon, and Kanah, as far as the great Sidon.28 with Abdon, Rehob, Hammon and Kanah as far as Sidon the Great. The frontier then turned towardsRamah, as far as the fortress-town of Tyre;
29 And it turns back at Ramah, even to the very fortified city of Tyre, and even to Hosah. And its exits shall be at the sea, from the lot of Achzib;29 the frontier then went to Hosah and reached as far as the sea at Mahalab and Achzib,
30 and Ummah, and Aphek, and Rehob: twenty-two cities, and their villages.30 with Acco, Aphek and Rehob: twenty-two towns with their vil ages.
31 This is the possession of the sons of Asher, by their families, and the cities and their villages.31 Such was the heritage of the tribe of the sons of Asher, by clans; these towns and their vil ages.
32 The sixth lot fell to the sons of Naphtali, by their families.32 To the sons of Naphtali fel the sixth portion, to the sons of Naphtali, by clans.
33 And its border begins from Heleph and Elon, into Zaanannim, and Adami, which is Nekeb, and Jabneel, as far as Lakkum. And its exits are as far as the Jordan.33 Their frontier went from Heleph and the Oak of Zanaannim, with Adami-ha-Negeb and Jabneel, as faras Lakkum, and ended at the Jordan.
34 And the border turns back to the west at Aznoth-tabor, and it goes out from there to Hukkok. And continues on to Zebulun, in the south, and to Asher, in the west, and to Judah, at the Jordan, toward the rising of the sun.34 The westward boundary ran to Aznoth-Tabor and thence came out at Hukkok, marching with Zebulunin the south, Asher in the west and the Jordan in the east.
35 And the most fortified cities are Ziddim, Zer and Hammath, and Rakkath, and Chinnereth,35 The fortified towns were Ziddim, Zer, Hammath, Rakkath, Chinnereth,
36 and Adamah and Ramah, Hazor36 Adamah, Ramah, Hazor,
37 and Kedesh and Edrei, Enhazor37 Kedesh, Edrei, En-Hazor,
38 and Yiron and Migdalel, Horem and Bethanath, and Beth-shemesh: nineteen cities, and their villages.38 Jiron, Migdal-El, Horem, Beth-Anath and Beth-Shemesh: nineteen towns and their vil ages.
39 This is the possession of the tribe of the sons of Naphtali, by their families, the cities and their villages.39 Such was the heritage of the sons of Naphtali, by clans: the towns and their vil ages.
40 The seventh lot went out to the tribe of the sons of Dan, by their families.40 To the tribe of the sons of Dan, by clans, fel the seventh portion.
41 And the border of their possession was Zorah, and Eshtaol, and Ir-shemesh, that is, the City of the Sun,41 The territory of their heritage comprised: Zorah, Eshtaol, Ir-Shemesh,
42 Sha-alabbin, and Aijalon, and Ithlah,42 Shaalbim, Aijalon, Silatha,
43 Elon, and Timnah, and Ekron,43 Elon, Timnah, Ekron,
44 Eltekeh, Gibbethon and Baalath,44 Eltekeh, Gibbethon,
45 and Jehud, and Bene and Berak, and Gath-Rimmon,45 Baalath, Azor, Bene-Berak and Gath-Rimmon;
46 and Mejarkon and Rakkon, with a border that looks toward Joppa,46 and, by the sea, Jerakon with the territory facing Jaffa.
47 and there the last part is concluded. And the sons of Dan ascended and fought against Leshem, and they seized it. And they struck it with the mouth of the sword, and they possessed it, and they lived in it, calling it by the name of Leshem-Dan, according to the name of their father Dan.47 The territory of the sons of Dan eluded them, however, and the sons of Dan consequently went upand attacked Leshem, captured it and put it to the sword. Having gained possession of it, they settled there andcal ed Leshem, Dan, after Dan their ancestor.
48 This is the possession of the tribe of the sons of Dan, by their families, the cities and their villages.48 Such was the heritage of the tribe of the sons of Dan, by clans: these towns and their vil ages.
49 And when he had completed dividing the land by lot to each one by their tribes, the sons of Israel gave a possession to Joshua, the son of Nun, in their midst,49 Having finished dividing the country, frontier by frontier, the Israelites gave Joshua son of Nun aheritage among themselves;
50 in accord with the precept of the Lord, the city he requested, Timnath-Serah, on mount Ephraim. And he built up the city, and he lived in it.50 at Yahweh's command, they gave him the town which he had asked for, Timnath-Serah in thehighlands of Ephraim; he rebuilt the town and settled there.
51 These are the possessions which Eleazar, the priest, and Joshua, the son of Nun, and the leaders of the families and tribes of the sons of Israel divided by lot at Shiloh, before the Lord, at the door of the Tabernacle of the Testimony. And so did they divide the land.51 Such are the heritages which the priest Eleazar, Joshua son of Nun, and the heads of each familyapportioned by lot between the tribes of Israel at Shiloh, in Yahweh's presence, at the door of the Tent ofMeeting; and thus the apportioning of the country was completed.
