1 Corinthians 11

1 Be imitators of me, as I also am of Christ.	1 Siate miei imitatori, come io lo sono di Cristo.
2 Now I praise you, brothers, because you are mindful of me in everything, in such a way as to hold to my precepts as I have handed them down to you.	2 Vi lodo, o fratelli, perchè in ogni occasione vi ricordate di me e ritenete tali e quali le istruzioni che vi ho date.
3 So I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ. But the head of woman is man. Yet truly, the head of Christ is God.	3 Voglio però farvi notare che capo d'ogni uomo è Cristo, capo della donna è l'uomo, e capo di Cristo è Dio.
4 Every man praying or prophesying with his head covered disgraces his head.	4 Ogni uomo che prega o profetizza a capo coperto, fa disonore al suo capo;
5 But every woman praying or prophesying with her head not covered disgraces her head. For it is the same as if her head were shaven.	5 così ogni donna che prega o profetizza a capo scoperto, fa disonore al suo capo, perchè è come se fosse rasa.
6 So if a woman is not veiled, let her hair be cut off. Truly then, if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off, or to have her head shaven, then she should cover her head.	6 Or se la donna non porta il velo, si faccia anche tagliare i capelli, e se è per lei vergognoso l'essere tosata o rasa, copra la sua testa.
7 Certainly, a man ought not to cover his head, for he is the image and glory of God. But woman is the glory of man.	7 L'uomo non deve coprire la sua testa, perchè è imagine e gloria di Dio; mentre la donna è la gloria dell'uomo;
8 For man is not of woman, but woman is of man.	8 infatti non è venuto l'uomo dalla donna, ma la donna dall'uomo;
9 And indeed, man was not created for woman, but woman was created for man.	9 e non fu creato l'uomo per la donna, ma la donna per l'uomo.
10 Therefore, a woman ought to have a sign of authority on her head, because of the Angels.	10 Deve quindi la donna avere sopra il capo il segno della dipendenza, per riguardo degli Angeli.
11 Yet truly, man would not exist without woman, nor would woman exist without man, in the Lord.	11 Tuttavia nè l'uomo può far senza la donna, nè la donna senza l'uomo, secondo il Signore;
12 For just as woman came into existence from man, so also does man exist through woman. But all things are from God.	12 Infatti come la donna vien dall'uomo, cosi l'uomo nasce dalla donna, e tutto vien da Dio.
13 Judge for yourselves. Is it proper for a woman to pray to God unveiled?	13 Giudicatene voi stessi: è decente che una donna preghi Dio non velata?
14 Does not even nature herself teach you that, indeed, if a man grows his hair long, it is a disgrace for him?	14 E la stessa natura non ve lo insegna che per l'uomo è indecente portare una lunga capigliatura,
15 Yet truly, if a woman grows her hair long, it is a glory for her, because her hair has been given to her as a covering.	15 mentre una lunga capigliatura è a gloria d'una donna, perchè i capelli le sono stati dati per velo?
16 But if anyone has a mind to be contentious, we have no such custom, nor does the Church of God.	16 Che se ad alcuno piacesse opporsi, noi non abbiamo tal uso, nè lo ha la Chiesa di Dio.
17 Now I caution you, without praising, about this: that you assemble together, and not for better, but for worse.	17 Or vi devo avvertire, senza lodarvi, che vi adunate, non solo senza profitto, ma con iscapito.
18 First of all, indeed, I hear that when you assemble together in the church, there are schisms among you. And I believe this, in part.	18 Prima di tutto sento che allorquando vi radunate nella chiesa, ci son delle divisioni tra di voi; e in parte ci credo;
19 For there must also be heresies, so that those who have been tested may be made manifest among you.	19 è necessario infatti che ci siano anche delle eresie, affinchè tra voi si possan conoscere quelli di virtù provata.
20 And so, when you assemble together as one, it is no longer in order to eat the Lord’s supper.	20 Quando voi dunque vi radunate, quello non è un mangiar la cena del Signore.
21 For each one first takes his own supper to eat. And as a result, one person is hungry, while another is inebriated.	21 Infatti ciascuno mangia avanti la sua cena, e uno patisce la fame, mentre l'altro è briaco.
22 Do you not have houses, in which to eat and drink? Or do you have such contempt for the Church of God that you would confound those who do not have such contempt? What should I say to you? Should I praise you? I am not praising you in this.	22 Ma non oi avete le case per mangiare e bere? O volete disprezzare la chiesa, e fare arrossire quelli che non hanno nulla? Che devo dirvi? Lodarvi? In questo no, davvero.
23 For I have received from the Lord what I have also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus, on the same night that he was handed over, took bread,	23 Perchè io l'ho ricevuto dal Signore quello che ho insegnato a voi, che il Signore Gesù, nella notte in cui era tradito, prese del pane
24 and giving thanks, he broke it, and said: “Take and eat. This is my body, which shall be given up for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”	24 e, dopo aver rese le grazie, lo spezzò e disse: Prendete e mangiate; questo è il mio corpo, che sarà dato a morte per voi: fate questo in memoria di me.
25 Similarly also, the cup, after he had eaten supper, saying: “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”	25 Parimenti, dopo aver cenato, prese anche il calice, dicendo: Questo calice è il nuovo testamento nel mio sangue: fate questo, tutte le volte che ne berrete, in memoria di me.
26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord, until he returns.	26 Or dunque, tutte le volte che mangerete questo pane e berrete questo calice, annunzierete la morte del Signore, finché egli non venga.
27 And so, whoever eats this bread, or drinks from the cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be liable of the body and blood of the Lord.	27 Pertanto chiunque mangerà questo pane o berrà il calice del Signore indegnamente, sarà reo del corpo e del sangue del Signore.
28 But let a man examine himself, and, in this way, let him eat from that bread, and drink from that cup.	28 Provi dunque ciascuno se stesso, e così mangi di quel pane e beva di quel calice;
29 For whoever eats and drinks unworthily, eats and drinks a sentence against himself, not discerning it to be the body of the Lord.	29 perchè chi ne mangia e ne beve indegnamente, mangia e beve la sua condanna, non distinguendo il corpo del Signore.
30 As a result, many are weak and sick among you, and many have fallen asleep.	30 Ecco perchè tra voi ci son molti malati e deboli e ne muoion parecchi.
31 But if we ourselves were discerning, then certainly we would not be judged.	31 Se da noi stessi ci si giudicasse, non si sarebbe certamente giudicati.
32 Yet when we are judged, we are being corrected by the Lord, so that we might not be condemned along with this world.	32 Invece siam giudicati dal Signore, e castigati, per non esser condannati con questo mondo.
33 And so, my brothers, when you assemble together to eat, be attentive to one another.	33 Quando dunque, o fratelli, vi adunate per mangiare, aspettatevi gli uni gli altri;
34 If anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, so that you may not assemble together unto judgment. As for the rest, I will set it in order when I arrive.	34 e se qualcuno ha fame, mangi a casa, affinchè non vi raduniate per vostra condanna. In quanto alle altre cose, le regolerò quando verrò da voi.
