Deuteronomy 15

1 “In the seventh year, you shall perform a remission,	1 Tous les sept ans tu feras la rémission.
2 which shall be celebrated according to this order. Anyone to whom anything is owed, by his friend or neighbor or brother, will not be able to request its return, because it is the year of remission of the Lord.	2 Celui qui aura prêté de l’argent à quelqu’un effacera cette dette. Après qu’on aura publié la rémission de Yahvé, tu ne feras plus pression sur ton prochain, sur ton frère,
3 From the sojourner and the new arrival, you may require its return. From your fellow countryman and neighbor, you will not have the power to request its return.	3 tu pourras faire pression sur l’étranger, mais tu effaceras la dette de ton frère.
4 And there shall not be anyone indigent or begging among you, so that the Lord your God may bless you in the land which he will deliver to you as a possession.	4 Ainsi il n’y aura pas de pauvre chez toi lorsque Yahvé t’aura béni, dans le pays que Yahvé ton Dieu te donne en héritage et en possession,
5 But only if you heed the voice of the Lord your God, and keep to all that he has ordered, that which I am entrusting to you this day, will he bless you, just as he has promised.	5 à condition toutefois que tu écoutes attentivement la voix de Yahvé ton Dieu, et que tu pratiques avec soin tout ce que je t’ordonne aujourd’hui.
6 You shall lend money to many nations, and you yourselves shall borrow in return from no one. You shall rule over very many nations, and no one shall rule over you.	6 Alors Yahvé ton Dieu te bénira comme il l’a promis. Tu prêteras à de nombreuses nations et toi, tu n’auras pas à emprunter, tu domineras sur de nombreuses nations mais elles, ne domineront pas sur toi.
7 If one of your brothers, who dwells within the gates of your city, in the land which the Lord your God will give to you, falls into poverty, you shall not harden your heart, nor tighten your hand.	7 Si, dans l’une des villes du pays que Yahvé ton Dieu te donne, tu rencontres un pauvre parmi tes frères, tu ne fermeras ni ton cœur, ni ta main devant ce frère qui est dans la pauvreté.
8 Instead, you shall open your hand to the poor, and you shall lend to him whatever you perceive him to need.	8 Tu lui ouvriras ta main et tu lui prêteras ce dont il a besoin, ce qui lui manque.
9 Take care, lest perhaps an impious thought might creep within you, and you might say in your heart: ‘The seventh year of remission approaches.’ And so you might turn your eyes away from your poor brother, unwilling to lend to him what he has asked. If so, then he may cry out against you to the Lord, and it will be a sin for you.	9 Ne fais pas dans ta tête ce petit calcul: “Voici que la septième année, l’année de la rémission approche”; ne regarde pas méchamment ce frère qui est pauvre, ne lui refuse pas ce dont il a besoin de peur qu’il ne crie vers Yahvé contre toi et que toi, tu ne sois chargé d’un péché.
10 Instead, you shall give to him. Neither shall you do anything craftily while assisting him in his needs, so that the Lord your God may bless you, at all times and in all things to which you will put your hand.	10 Tu dois lui donner, et lui donner sans regret. Alors Yahvé ton Dieu te bénira dans tous tes travaux et dans tout ce que tu entreprendras, à cause de ce que tu as fait.
11 The poor will not be absent from the land of your habitation. For this reason, I instruct you to open your hand to your indigent and poor brother, who lives among you in the land.	11 Il ne manquera jamais de pauvres au milieu du pays, c’est pourquoi je te donne ce commandement: Tu ouvriras ta main à ton frère, à celui qui est démuni, au pauvre qui est dans le pays.
12 When your brother, a Hebrew man or a Hebrew woman, has been sold to you, and has served you for six years, in the seventh year you shall set him free.	12 Si l’un de tes frères hébreux, homme ou femme, se vend à toi, il te servira durant six années, mais la septième année tu le renverras libre de chez toi.
13 And when you grant his freedom, you shall by no means permit him to go away empty.	13 Tu le renverras libre, mais non pas les mains vides.
14 Instead, you shall give to him, for his journey, from your flocks and threshing floor and winepress, with which the Lord your God has blessed you.	14 Tu lui donneras en cadeau quelque chose de ton troupeau, de ton grenier et de ton pressoir: tu lui donneras une part des biens dont Yahvé ton Dieu t’aura béni.
15 Remember that you yourself also served in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God set you free. And therefore, I now command this of you.	15 Tu te souviendras que tu as été esclave en Égypte et que Yahvé ton Dieu t’a racheté; c’est pourquoi aujourd’hui je te donne ce commandement.
16 But if he will say, ‘I am not willing to depart,’ because he loves you and your household, and because he feels that it would be good for him to stay with you,	16 Mais peut-être ton esclave te dira: “Je ne veux pas te quitter”, parce qu’il t’aime, toi et ta famille, et qu’il se trouve bien chez toi,
17 then you shall take an awl and pierce his ear, at the door of your house. And he shall serve you even forever. You shall also act similarly toward your woman servant.	17 alors tu prendras un poinçon et tu lui perceras l’oreille contre le montant de ta porte: il sera pour toujours ton serviteur. Tu feras la même chose s’il s’agit d’une servante.
18 You should not avert your eyes from them when you set them free, because he has served you for six years, in a manner deserving of the pay of a hired hand. So may the Lord your God bless you in all the works that you do.	18 N’aie pas peur de le renvoyer libre de chez toi, pense que durant les six ans qu’il t’a servi il t’a économisé deux fois le salaire d’un ouvrier, et puis Yahvé ton Dieu te bénira dans tout ce que tu feras.
19 Of the firstborn, those born from your herds and sheep, you shall sanctify to the Lord your God whatever is of the male sex. You shall not put the firstborn of the oxen to work, nor shall you shear the firstborn of the sheep.	19 Tu consacreras à Yahvé tout premier-né qui naîtra dans ton gros et dans ton petit bétail. Tu ne feras pas travailler le premier-né de ta vache et tu ne tondras pas le premier-né de tes brebis.
20 In the sight of the Lord your God, you shall eat these, each year, in the place which the Lord will choose, you and your household.	20 Mais chaque année, toi et ta famille, tu les mangeras devant Yahvé ton Dieu, dans le lieu qu’il aura choisi.
21 But if it has a blemish, or is lame, or is blind, or if it is in any part deformed or debilitated, it shall not be immolated to the Lord your God.	21 Cependant, si ce premier-né est infirme, boiteux ou aveugle, ou s’il a une tare quelconque, tu ne l’offriras pas en sacrifice à Yahvé ton Dieu.
22 Instead, you shall eat it within the gates of your city. The clean as well as the unclean alike shall feed on these, such as the roe deer and the stag.	22 Tu le mangeras chez toi; qu’on soit pur ou impur on en mangera comme on mange de la gazelle ou du cerf.
23 This alone shall you observe: that you do not eat their blood, but pour it upon the ground like water.”	23 Seulement tu ne mangeras pas son sang, tu le verseras à terre comme l’eau.
