1 And it happened that, when Jesus entered the house of a certain leader of the Pharisees on the Sabbath to eat bread, they were observing him.	1 Or avvenne che, essendo egli entrato in giorno di sabato a prendere cibo in casa di uno dei principali Farisei, questi gli tenevano gli occhi addosso.
2 And behold, a certain man before him was afflicted with edema.	2 Ed ecco stargli davanti un idropico.
3 And responding, Jesus spoke to the experts in the law and to the Pharisees, saying, “Is it lawful to cure on the Sabbath?”	3 E Gesù prese a dire ai dottori in legge ed ai Farisei: E' lecito o no curare di sabato?
4 But they kept silent. Yet truly, taking hold of him, he healed him and sent him away.	4 Ma quelli tacquero. Allora egli, preso per la mano quell'uomo, lo guarì e lo rimandò.
5 And responding to them, he said, “Which of you will have a donkey or an ox fall into a pit, and will not promptly pull him out, on the day of the Sabbath?”	5 Indi soggiunse: Chi di voi, se dì sabato gii cade l'asino o il bove in un pozzo, non lo tira subito fuori?
6 And they were unable to respond to him about these things.	6 E a queste sue parole essi non potevano rispondere.
7 Then he also told a parable, to those who were invited, noticing how they chose the first seats at the table, saying to them:	7 Notando poi come gli invitati sceglievano i primi posti, disse loro questa parabola:
8 “When you are invited to a wedding, do not sit down in the first place, lest perhaps someone more honored than yourself may have been invited by him.	8 Quando sei invitato a nozze da qualcuno, non ti mettere al primo posto, chè forse non sia invitato uno più degno di te,
9 And then he who called both you and him, approaching, may say to you, ‘Give this place to him.’ And then you would begin, with shame, to take the last place.	9 e chi ha invitato te e lui non venga a dirti: Cedigli il posto, e allora tu non cominci a stare con vergogna all'ultimo posto.
10 But when you are invited, go, sit down in the lowest place, so that, when he who invited you arrives, he may say to you, ‘Friend, go up higher.’ Then you will have glory in the sight of those who sit at table together with you.	10 Ma,quando sei invitato vatti a mettere nell'ultimo posto, affinchè venendo chi ti ha invitato, ti dica: Amico, sali più in su. E allora ne avrai onore presso tutti i commensali.
11 For everyone who exalts himself shall be humbled, and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted.”	11 Chi di fatti s'innalza sarà umiliato, e chi s'umilia sarà esaltato.
12 Then he also said to the one who had invited him: “When you prepare a lunch or dinner, do not choose to call your friends, or your brothers, or your relatives, or your wealthy neighbors, lest perhaps they might then invite you in return and repayment would made to you.	12 E diceva anche a colui che lo aveva invitato: Quando fai un desinare o una cena non invitare i tuoi amici o fratelli, nè parenti, nò i ricchi vicini, affinchè forse non ti rendano essi pure l'invito, e ne abbia il contraccambio.
13 But when you prepare a feast, call the poor, the disabled, the lame, and the blind.	13 Ma quando fai un convito chiama i poveri, gli storpi, gli zoppi ed i ciechi,
14 And you will be blessed because they do not have a way to repay you. So then, your recompense will be in the resurrection of the just.”	14 e sarai fortunato, perchè non han da contraccambiarti; ma tu allora sarai retribuito nella resurrezione dei giusti.
15 When someone sitting at table with him had heard these things, he said to him, “Blessed is he who will eat bread in the kingdom of God.”	15 Uno dei commensali, udite queste parole, gli disse: Beato chi potrà banchettare nel regno di Dio.
16 So he said to him: “A certain man prepared a great feast, and he invited many.	16 Allora egli soggiunse: Un uomo fece una gran cena e invitò molti.
17 And he sent his servant, at the hour of the feast, to tell the invited to come; for now everything was ready.	17 E all'ora della cena mando il suo servo a dir ai convitati: Venite, chè tutto è pronto.
18 And at once they all began to make excuses. The first said to him: ‘I bought a farm, and I need to go out and see it. I ask you to excuse me.’	18 E cominciarono tutti insieme a scusarsi. Il primo gli disse: Ho comprato un podere e bisogna che vada a vederlo; ti prego, abbimi per iscusato.
19 And another said: ‘I bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to examine them. I ask you to excuse me.’	19 E un altro gli disse: Ho comprato cinque paia, di buoi e vo a provarli; ti prego, abbimi per iscusato.
20 And another said, ‘I have taken a wife, and therefore I am not able to go.’	20 E un altro gli disse: Ho preso moglie, quindi non posso venire.
21 And returning, the servant reported these things to his lord. Then the father of the family, becoming angry, said to his servant: ‘Go out quickly into the streets and neighborhoods of the city. And lead here the poor, and the disabled, and the blind, and the lame.’	21 Ed il servo tornò a riferire queste cose al padrone. Allora, sdegnato, il padrone di casa disse al servo: Presto, và per le piazze e per le vie della città, e mena qua poveri, storpi, ciechi e zoppi.
22 And the servant said: ‘It has been done, just as you ordered, lord, and there is still room.’	22 E come il servo tornò a dire: Signore, è stato fatto come hai ordinato, e ancora c'è posto;
23 And the lord said to the servant: ‘Go out to the highways and hedges, and compel them to enter, so that my house may be filled.	23 Il padrone gli disse: Va' fuori per le strade e lungo le siepi e forza la gente a venire, affinchè si riempia la mia casa.
24 For I tell you, that none of those men who were invited will taste of my feast.’ ”	24 E vi assicuro che nessuno dei primi invitati assaggerà la mia cena.
25 Now great crowds traveled with him. And turning around, he said to them:	25 Or molte turbe andavano con lui, ed egli, voltosi, disse loro:
26 “If anyone comes to me, and does not hate his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brothers, and sisters, and yes, even his own life, he is not able to be my disciple.	26 Se uno viene a me e non odia suo padre e sua madre e moglie e figli e fratelli e sorelle, e perfino la sua vita, non può essere mio discepolo.
27 And whoever does not bear his cross and come after me, is not able to be my disciple.	27 E chi non porta la sua croce e non viene dietro a me, non può esser mio discepolo.
28 For who among you, wanting to build a tower, would not first sit down and determine the costs that are required, to see if he has the means to complete it?	28 Infatti chi di voi, volendo fabbricare una torre, non calcola prima attentamente la spesa necessaria, e se ha da finirla;
29 Otherwise, after he will have laid the foundation and not been able to finish it, everyone who sees it may begin to mock him,	29 onde non avvenga che, gettate le fondamenta, non potendo terminarla, comincino tutti quelli che stanno a vedere a beffarsi di lui
30 saying: ‘This man began to build what he was not able to finish.’	30 e a dire: Costui ha incominciato a fabbricare e non ha potuto finire.
31 Or, what king, advancing to engage in war against another king, would not first sit down and consider whether he may be able, with ten thousand, to meet one who comes against him with twenty thousand?	31 E qual re prima di muover guerra ad un altro re, non esamina prima con calma se con diecimila possa andare a combattere uno che viene contro con trentamila?
32 If not, then while the other is still far away, sending a delegation, he would ask him for terms of peace.	32 Altrimenti, mentre l'altro è ancora lontano, gli manda una ambasciata a chiedere di fare la pace.
33 Therefore, everyone of you who does not renounce all that he possesses is not able to be my disciple.	33 Così pure chi di voi non rinuncia a tutto quello che possiede, non può essere mio discepolo.
34 Salt is good. But if the salt has lost its flavor, with what will it be seasoned?	34 Il sale, certo, è buono; ma se anche il sale diventa scipito con che gli si darà il sapore?
35 It is useful neither in soil, nor in manure, so instead, it shall be thrown away. Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.”	35 Non è buono, nè per la terra, nè per fare il concime; si butta via. Chi ha orecchi da intendere, intenda.
