1 He ascends, who would scatter before your eyes, who would maintain the blockade. Contemplate the way, fortify your back, reinforce virtue greatly.	1 - Già sale incontro a te colui che devasterà, colui che ti stringerà d'assedio; e tu sorvegliane la marcia, ingagliardisci i fianchi, rinforza la lena molto.
2 For the Lord has repaid the arrogance of Jacob, just like the arrogance of Israel. For the despoilers have scattered them, and they have corrupted their procreation.	2 Perchè il Signore ha restituita la gloria di Giacobbe, la gloria di quei di Israele com'era; benchè i devastatori li abbiano dispersi e abbian dato il guasto a tutte le propaggini loro.
3 The shield of his strong ones is fire, the men of war are in scarlet. The reins of the chariot are fiery in the day of his preparation, and the drivers have been drugged.	3 Lo scudo dei suoi forti è fiammeggiante; in vesti vermiglie è la gente del suo esercito; sono scintillanti le bardature dei carri: nel giorno dei preparativi, i cocchieri li agitano vertiginosamente.
4 They have become confused on their journey. The four-horse chariots have collided in the streets. Their appearance is like torches, like lightning dashing around.	4 Si confondono per le strade, s'urtano i carri per le piazze, hanno l'aspetto di faci, di folgori guizzanti.
5 He will call to mind his strong ones; they will destroy along their journey. They will quickly ascend its walls, and a shelter will be prepared.	5 Arringa i suoi prodi, si precipitano per le vie, salgono veloci alle mura e si dispone il riparo.
6 The gates of the rivers have been opened, and the temple has been pulled down to the ground.	6 Già si sono spalancate le porte dei fiumi e la reggia è rovesciata al suolo;
7 And the foot soldier has been led away captive, and her handmaids were driven away, mourning like doves, murmuring in their hearts.	7 la milizia fatta prigioniera è condotta via; le sue ancelle trascinate gementi come colombe coi singhiozzi nel petto;
8 And Nineveh, her waters are like a fish pond. Yet truly, they have fled away: “Stand, stand!” But there is no one who will turn back.	8 e Ninive dalle sue proprie acque invasa è come una laguna; ma essi sono fuggiti. Fermatevi, fermatevi! Ma non c'è nessuno, che si volga indietro.
9 Despoil the silver, despoil the gold. And there is no end to all the riches of desirable equipment.	9 Predate l'argento, predate l'oro, ricchezze senza fine di oggetti preziosissimi d'ogni sorta!
10 She has been scattered, and cut, and torn apart. And the heart melts, and the knees buckle, and weakness is in every temperament. And the faces of them all are like a black kettle.	10 Devastata, squarciata, messa a brani, strutto il cuore, disciolte le ginocchia, spossata di tutte le forze, e tutte le facce tinte come paiuoli!
11 Where is the dwelling place of the lions, and the feeding ground of the young lions, to which the lion went, so as to open a way for the young lion, and so that there would be none to make them afraid?	11 Dov'è l'albergo dei leoni, il luogo dei pasti dei lioncelli, dove andava il leone a ritirarsi col lioncello, senza alcuno che osasse disturbarli?
12 The lion seized enough for his young, and killed enough for his lionesses, and he filled his caves with prey, and his den with spoils.	12 Il leone faceva abbondanti prede pei suoi lioncelli e strozzava vittime per le sue leonesse, e aveva riempito di preda la sua tana e di rapina il suo covo.
13 Behold, I will come to you, says the Lord of hosts, and I will burn your chariots even to smoke, and the sword will devour your young lions. And I will exterminate your prey from the land, and the voice of your messengers shall no longer be heard.	13 Ma eccomi a te, dice il Signore degli eserciti, io voglio incenerire e mandare in fumo tutte le tue quadrighe; i tuoi leoni saranno pascolo della spada e sterminerò dalla terra la tua preda, e non si udirà più mai la voce dei tuoi nunzi!
