1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:	1 Il Signore parlò a Mosè, dicendo:
2 “Instruct the sons of Israel to cast out of the camp every leper, and those who have a flow of seed, and those who have been polluted because of the dead;	2 « Ordina ai figli d'Israele di mandar fuori del campo chi è lebbroso, chi ha la gonorrea e chi è immondo a causa d'un morto.
3 cast out of the camp both male and female, lest they contaminate it while I am dwelling with you.”	3 Maschi o femmine che siano, mandateli fuori del campo, chè non lo contaminino, abitando io con voi ».
4 And the sons of Israel did so, and they cast them out, beyond the camp, just as the Lord had spoken to Moses.	4 I figli d'Israele così fecero e li mandarono fuor del campo, come il Signore aveva detto a Mosè.
5 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:	5 Il Signore parlò a Mosè, dicendo:
6 “Say to the sons of Israel: A man or a woman, when they have done anything out of all the sins that often befall men, or if, by negligence, they have transgressed the commandment of the Lord, and so have committed an offense,	6 « Di' ai figli d'Israele: Se un uomo o una donna avrà fatto di quei peccati che sogliono essere contro il prossimo, e avrà trasgredito per negligenza il precetto del Signore, e si sarà reso colpevole,
7 they shall confess their sin, and they shall restore the principle itself, plus a fifth part above it, to any against whom they have sinned.	7 confesserà la sua colpa e restituirà l'oggetto con un quinto di più a colui contro il quale ha peccato.
8 But if there would be no one to receive it, they shall give it to the Lord, and it shall be for the priest, except for the ram, which is offered for expiation, in order to be a pleasing victim.	8 Ma se non vi fosse chi riceva la restituzione, la darà al Signore, e sarà del sacerdote, oltre il montone che è offerto come espiazione, affinchè l'ostia sia propiziatoria.
9 Likewise, all the first-fruits, which the sons of Israel offer, belong to the priest,	9 Appartengono pure al sacerdote tutte le primizie offerte dai figli d'Israele,
10 with whatever is offered by each one at the Sanctuary, and which is delivered into the hands of the priest; it shall be his.”	10 anche tutto ciò che uno offre al santuario e pone nelle mani del sacerdote, sarà del sacerdote ».
11 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:	11 Il Signore parlò a Mosè, dicendo:
12 “Speak to the sons of Israel, and you shall say to them: The man whose wife will have gone astray, and, disdaining her husband,	12 « Parla ai figli d'Israele e di' loro: Se una donna maritata, dispregiando il marito,
13 will have slept with another man, and if her husband cannot discover it, but the adultery is secret, and if it cannot be proved by witnesses, because she was not caught in the shameful act,	13 dormirà con un altro uomo; ma il marito non può venirne in chiaro, e l'adulterio è nascosto, e non può provarsi con testimoni, perchè essa non fu colta sul fatto;
14 if the spirit of jealousy stirs up the husband against his wife, who either has been polluted or is being assailed with a false suspicion,	14 dato che lo spirito di gelosia ecciti l'uomo contro la sua moglie che si è contaminata, o ne viene accusata con falso sospetto,
15 he shall bring her to the priest, and he shall offer an oblation for her, a tenth part of native barley meal. He shall not pour oil over it, nor shall he place frankincense on it, because it is a sacrifice for jealousy, or an oblation investigating adultery.	15 egli la condurrà al sacerdote, e offrirà in oblazione per lei la decima parte d'un sato di farina d'orzo, senza mettervi sopra nè olio nè incenso, essendo un sacrifizio di gelosia, un'oblazione per scoprir l'adulterio.
16 Therefore, the priest shall offer it, and he shall set it in the sight of the Lord.	16 Ii sacerdote farà avvicinare la donna e la farà stare in piedi davanti al Signore,
17 And he shall take up holy water in an earthen vessel, and he shall cast a little earth from the pavement of the tabernacle into it.	17 e presa dell'acqua santa in un vaso di terra, vi getterà dentro un po' di terra del pavimento del Tabernacolo;
18 And while the woman stands before the Lord, he shall uncover her head, and he shall place over her hands the sacrifice of recollection and oblation of jealousy. But he shall take hold of the most bitter waters, in which he has gathered curses with loathing.	18 scoperto poi il capo alla donna che sta in piedi davanti al Signore, le porrà sulle mani il sacrifizio della ricordanza e l'oblazione della gelosia, e, tenendo le acque amarissime sopra le quali con esecrazione ha accumulato le maledizioni,
19 And he shall bind her by an oath, and he shall say: ‘If another man has not slept with you, and if you have not been polluted by forsaking the bed of your husband, these most bitter waters, into which I have gathered curses, shall not harm you.	19 la scongiurerà e dirà: Se nessun uomo straniero ha dormito con te e non ti sei contaminata coll'abbandonare il talamo di tuo marito, queste acque amare sopra le quali ho accumulate le maledizioni non ti noceranno;
20 But if you have turned away from your husband, and also have been defiled, and have lain together with another man,	20 ma se ti sei sviata da tuo marito, e ti sei contaminata e hai dormito con un altro uomo,
21 these curses shall be thrown upon you: May the Lord turn you into a curse and an example among all his people. May he cause your thigh to rot, and may your abdomen swell up and burst out.	21 cadrai sotto queste maledizioni: il Signore ti metta in maledizione ed esempio a tutti nel suo popolo: faccia imputridire la tua coscia, e il tuo ventre gonfi e crepi:
22 May the cursed waters enter into your stomach, and may your womb swell and your thigh rot.’ And the woman shall respond: ‘Amen, amen.’	22 queste acque maledette entrando nel tuo ventre faccian gonfiare il tuo utero e imputridire la tua coscia. E la donna risponderà: Così sia, così sia!
23 And the priest shall write these curses in a little book, and then he shall erase them with the very bitter waters, into which he had gathered the curses,	23 Il Sacerdote scriverà in un libretto queste maledizioni, e le cancellerà colle acque amarissime, sopra le quali ha accumulate le maledizioni,
24 and he shall give it to her to drink. And when she has emptied it,	24 e che saran date a bere alla donna. E quando essa le avrà bevute,
25 the priest shall take from her hand the sacrifice of jealousy, and he shall elevate it before the Lord, and he shall impose it upon the altar. Yet only after he first	25 il sacerdote prenderà dalle mani di lei il sacrifizio della gelosia, e, alzatolo dinanzi al Signore, lo porrà sull'altare; ma prima
26 takes a handful of the sacrifice from that which is offered, and burns it upon the altar, and then he may give the most bitter waters to the woman as a drink.	26 prenderà una manata del sacrifizio che è offerto, e lo brucerà sull'altare, poi darà a bere le acque amarissime alla donna:
27 And when she drinks it, if she has been defiled, and, having despised her husband, is guilty of adultery, the curse shall pass through her, and as her belly swells up, her thigh shall decay, and the woman shall become a curse and an example to all the people.	27 alla quale, bevute che siano, se essa si è contaminata, ha disprezzato il marito e si è fatta rea di adulterio, le acque di maledizione penetreranno dentro a far gonfiare il ventre, a far marcire la coscia; e così tal donna sarà in maledizione ed in esempio a tutto il popolo.
28 But if she has not been defiled, she shall be unharmed and she shall bear children.	28 Se invece non si è contaminata, non patirà alcun male ed avrà figli.
29 This is the law for jealousy. If a woman has turned aside from her husband, and if she has been polluted,	29 Questa è la legge della gelosia, per quando una donna, sviandosi dal suo marito, si è contaminata,
30 and if the husband, being stirred up by the spirit of jealousy, has brought her before the sight of the Lord, and the priest has acted toward her according to all that has been written:	30 e il marito, preso da spirito di gelosia, la conduce al cospetto del Signore, e il sacerdote fa a lei tutto quello che è scritto,
31 then the husband shall be without guilt, and she shall bear her iniquity.”	31 il marito sarà senza colpa, e lei riceverà secondo la sua iniquità ». |
