1 And the Lord spoke to Moses in the desert of Sinai, in the tabernacle of the covenant, on the first day of the second month, in the year after their departure from Egypt, saying:	1 וידבר יהוה אל משה במדבר סיני באהל מועד באחד לחדש השני בשנה השנית לצאתם מארץ מצרים לאמר
2 “Take a total of the entire assembly of the sons of Israel, by their families and houses, and the names of each one, of whomever is of the male sex,	2 שאו את ראש כל עדת בני ישראל למשפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שמות כל זכר לגלגלתם
3 from twenty years and above, of all the able-bodied men out of Israel, and you shall number them by their companies, you and Aaron.	3 מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא בישראל תפקדו אתם לצבאתם אתה ואהרן
4 And there shall be with you the leaders of the tribes, as well as of the houses, in their kinships,	4 ואתכם יהיו איש איש למטה איש ראש לבית אבתיו הוא
5 the names of whom are these: of Ruben, Elizur the son of Shedeur;	5 ואלה שמות האנשים אשר יעמדו אתכם לראובן אליצור בן שדיאור
6 of Simeon, Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai;	6 לשמעון שלמיאל בן צורישדי
7 of Judah, Nahshon the son of Amminadab;	7 ליהודה נחשון בן עמינדב
8 of Issachar, Nathanael the son of Zuar;	8 ליששכר נתנאל בן צוער
9 of Zebulon, Eliab the son of Helon.	9 לזבולן אליאב בן חלן
10 And from the sons of Joseph: of Ephraim, Elishama the son of Ammihud; of Manasseh, Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur;	10 לבני יוסף לאפרים אלישמע בן עמיהוד למנשה גמליאל בן פדהצור
11 of Benjamin, Abidan the son of Gideoni;	11 לבנימן אבידן בן גדעני
12 of Dan, Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai;	12 לדן אחיעזר בן עמישדי
13 of Asher, Pagiel the son of Ochran;	13 לאשר פגעיאל בן עכרן
14 of Gad, Eliasaph the son of Reuel;	14 לגד אליסף בן דעואל
15 of Naphtali, Ahira the son of Enan.”	15 לנפתלי אחירע בן עינן
16 These are the very noble leaders of the multitude, by their tribes and kinships, and the heads of the army of Israel.	16 אלה קריאי העדה נשיאי מטות אבותם ראשי אלפי ישראל הם
17 Moses and Aaron took these, with all the multitude of the common people,	17 ויקח משה ואהרן את האנשים האלה אשר נקבו בשמות
18 and they gathered them together on the first day of the second month, taking a census of them by kinships, and houses, and families, and heads, and the names of each one from twenty years and above,	18 ואת כל העדה הקהילו באחד לחדש השני ויתילדו על משפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שמות מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה לגלגלתם
19 just as the Lord had instructed Moses. And they were numbered in the desert of Sinai.	19 כאשר צוה יהוה את משה ויפקדם במדבר סיני
20 Of Ruben, the firstborn of Israel, by their generations and families and houses, and the names of each head, of all who were of the male sex, from twenty years and above, capable of going to war,	20 ויהיו בני ראובן בכר ישראל תולדתם למשפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שמות לגלגלתם כל זכר מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא
21 there were forty-six thousand five hundred.	21 פקדיהם למטה ראובן ששה וארבעים אלף וחמש מאות
22 Of the sons of Simeon, by their generations and families, and the houses of their kinships, having been counted by the names and heads of each one, of all who were of the male sex, from twenty years and above, capable of going to war,	22 לבני שמעון תולדתם למשפחתם לבית אבתם פקדיו במספר שמות לגלגלתם כל זכר מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא
23 there were fifty-nine thousand three hundred.	23 פקדיהם למטה שמעון תשעה וחמשים אלף ושלש מאות
24 Of the sons of Gad, by their generations and families, and the houses of their kinships, having been counted by the names of each one, from twenty years and above, of all who could go forth to war,	24 לבני גד תולדתם למשפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שמות מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא
25 there were forty-five thousand six hundred fifty.	25 פקדיהם למטה גד חמשה וארבעים אלף ושש מאות וחמשים
26 Of the sons of Judah, by their generations and families, and the houses of their kinships, by the names of each one, from twenty years and above, of all who were able to go forth to war,	26 לבני יהודה תולדתם למשפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שמת מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא
27 there were counted seventy-four thousand six hundred.	27 פקדיהם למטה יהודה ארבעה ושבעים אלף ושש מאות
28 Of the sons of Issachar, by their generations and families, and the houses of their kinships, by the names of each one, from twenty years and above, of all who could go forth to war,	28 לבני יששכר תולדתם למשפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שמת מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא
29 there were counted fifty-four thousand four hundred.	29 פקדיהם למטה יששכר ארבעה וחמשים אלף וארבע מאות
30 Of the sons of Zebulon, by their generations and families, and the houses of their kinships, having been counted by the names of each one, from twenty years and above, of all who were able to go forth to war,	30 לבני זבולן תולדתם למשפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שמת מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא
31 there were fifty-seven thousand four hundred.	31 פקדיהם למטה זבולן שבעה וחמשים אלף וארבע מאות
32 From the sons of Joseph, of the sons of Ephraim, by their generations and families, and the houses of their kinships, having been counted by the names of each one, from twenty years and above, of all who were able to go forth to war,	32 לבני יוסף לבני אפרים תולדתם למשפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שמת מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא
33 there were forty thousand five hundred.	33 פקדיהם למטה אפרים ארבעים אלף וחמש מאות
34 Furthermore, of the sons of Manasseh, by their generations and families, and the houses of their kinships, having been counted by the names of each one, from twenty years and above, of all who were able to go forth to war,	34 לבני מנשה תולדתם למשפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שמות מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא
35 there were thirty-two thousand two hundred.	35 פקדיהם למטה מנשה שנים ושלשים אלף ומאתים
36 Of the sons of Benjamin, by their generations and families, and the houses of their kinships, having been counted by the names of each one, from twenty years and above, of all who were able to go forth to war,	36 לבני בנימן תולדתם למשפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שמת מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא
37 there were thirty-five thousand four hundred.	37 פקדיהם למטה בנימן חמשה ושלשים אלף וארבע מאות
38 Of the sons of Dan, by their generations and families, and the houses of their kinships, having been counted by the names of each one, from twenty years and above, of all who were able to go forth to war,	38 לבני דן תולדתם למשפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שמת מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא
39 there were sixty-two thousand seven hundred.	39 פקדיהם למטה דן שנים וששים אלף ושבע מאות
40 Of the sons of Asher, by their generations and families, and the houses of their kinships, having been counted by the names of each one, from twenty years and above, of all who were able to go forth to war,	40 לבני אשר תולדתם למשפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שמת מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא
41 there were forty thousand and one thousand five hundred.	41 פקדיהם למטה אשר אחד וארבעים אלף וחמש מאות
42 Of the sons of Naphtali, by their generations and families, and the houses of their kinships, having been counted by the names of each one, from twenty years and above, of all who were able to go forth to war,	42 בני נפתלי תולדתם למשפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שמת מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא
43 there were fifty-three thousand four hundred.	43 פקדיהם למטה נפתלי שלשה וחמשים אלף וארבע מאות
44 These are the ones who were numbered by Moses and Aaron and the twelve leaders of Israel, each one by the houses of their kinships.	44 אלה הפקדים אשר פקד משה ואהרן ונשיאי ישראל שנים עשר איש איש אחד לבית אבתיו היו
45 And the entire number of the sons of Israel by their houses and families, from twenty years and above, who were able to go forth to war, were	45 ויהיו כל פקודי בני ישראל לבית אבתם מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא בישראל
46 six hundred three thousand five hundred fifty men.	46 ויהיו כל הפקדים שש מאות אלף ושלשת אלפים וחמש מאות וחמשים
47 But the Levites in the tribes of their families were not numbered with them.	47 והלוים למטה אבתם לא התפקדו בתוכם
48 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:	48 וידבר יהוה אל משה לאמר
49 “Do not number the tribe of Levi, neither shall you take a total of them with the sons of Israel.	49 אך את מטה לוי לא תפקד ואת ראשם לא תשא בתוך בני ישראל
50 But appoint them over the tabernacle of the testimony, and all its vessels, and whatever pertains to the ceremonies. They shall carry the tabernacle and all its articles. And they shall be for the ministry, and they shall encamp all around the tabernacle.	50 ואתה הפקד את הלוים על משכן העדת ועל כל כליו ועל כל אשר לו המה ישאו את המשכן ואת כל כליו והם ישרתהו וסביב למשכן יחנו
51 When you would depart, the Levites shall take down the tabernacle. When you are to make camp, they shall set it up. Any outsider who will approach it shall be killed.	51 ובנסע המשכן יורידו אתו הלוים ובחנת המשכן יקימו אתו הלוים והזר הקרב יומת
52 Now the sons of Israel shall make camp, each one by his companies and bands, as well as his army.	52 וחנו בני ישראל איש על מחנהו ואיש על דגלו לצבאתם
53 Moreover, the Levites shall fix their tents all around the tabernacle, lest there be an indignation over the multitude of the sons of Israel. And they shall stand watch as guardians over the tabernacle of the testimony.”	53 והלוים יחנו סביב למשכן העדת ולא יהיה קצף על עדת בני ישראל ושמרו הלוים את משמרת משכן העדות
54 Therefore, the sons of Israel acted according to everything that the Lord had instructed Moses.	54 ויעשו בני ישראל ככל אשר צוה יהוה את משה כן עשו
