Let Samaria perish, because she has urged her God towards bitterness. Let them perish by the sword, let their little ones be thrown down, and let their pregnant women be cut in two.1 Rea de castigo es Samaria, porque se rebeló contra su Dios. A espada caerán, serán sus niños estrellados, y reventadas sus mujeres encinta.
Israel, convert to the Lord your God. For you have been ruined by your own iniquity.2 Vuelve, Israel, a Yahveh tu Dios, pues has tropezado por tus culpas.
Take these words with you and return to the Lord. And say to him, “Remove all iniquity and accept the good. And we will repay the calves of our lips.3 Tomad con vosotros palabras, y volved a Yahveh. Decidle: «Quita toda culpa; toma lo que es bueno; y en vez de novillos te ofreceremos nuestros labios.
Assur will not save us; we will not ride on horses. Neither will we say any more, ‘The works of our hands are our gods,’ for those that are in you will have mercy on the orphan.”4 Asiria no nos salvará, no montaremos ya a caballo, y no diremos más “Dios nuestro” a la obra de nuestros manos, oh tú, en quien halla compasión el huérfano».
I will heal their contrition; I will love them spontaneously. For my wrath has been turned away from them.5 - Yo sanaré su infidelidad, los amaré graciosamente; pues mi cólera se ha apartado de él,
I will be like the dew; Israel will spring forth like the lily, and his root will spread out like that of the cedars of Lebanon.6 seré como rocío para Israel: él florecerá como el lirio, y hundirá sus raíces como el Líbano.
His branches will advance, and his glory will be like the olive tree, and his fragrance will be like that of the cedars of Lebanon.7 Sus ramas se desplegarán, como el del olivo será su esplendor, y su fragancia como la del Líbano.
They will be converted, sitting in his shadow. They will live on wheat, and they will grow like a vine. His memorial will be like the wine of the cedars of Lebanon.8 Volverán a sentarse a mi sombra; harán crecer el trigo, florecerán como la vid, su renombre será como el del vino del Líbano.
Ephraim will say, “What are idols to me any more?” I will listen to him, and I will set him straight like a healthy spruce tree. Your fruit has been found by me.9 Efraím... ¿qué tiene aún con los ídolos? Yo le atiendo y le miro. Yo soy como un ciprés siempre verde, y gracias a mí se te halla fruto.
Who is wise and will understand this? Who has understanding and will know these things? For the ways of the Lord are straight, and the just will walk in them, but truly, the traitors will fall in them.10 ¿Quién es sabio para entender estas cosas, inteligente para conocerlas?: Que rectos son los caminos de Yahveh, por ellos caminan los justos, mas los rebeldes en ellos tropiezan.
