Daniel 7

1 In the first year of Belshazzar, king of Babylon, Daniel saw a dream and a vision in his head on his bed. And, writing down the dream, he understood it in a concise manner, and so, summarizing it tersely, he said:	1 El año primero de Baltasar, rey de Babilonia, Daniel tuvo un sueño y visiones de su cabeza, mientras se hallaba en su lecho. En seguida puso el sueño por escrito. Comienzo del relato:
2 I saw in my vision at night, and behold, the four winds of the heavens fought upon the great sea.	2 Daniel tomó la palabra y dijo: Contemplaba yo en mi visión durante la noche lo siguiente: los cuatro vientos del cielo agitaron el mar grande,
3 And four great beasts, different from one another, ascended from the sea.	3 y cuatro bestias enormes, diferentes todas entre sí, salieron del mar.
4 The first was like a lioness and had the wings of an eagle. I watched as its wings were plucked off, and it was raised from the earth and stood on its feet like a man, and the heart of a man was given to it.	4 La primera era como un león con alas de águila. Mientras yo la miraba, le fueron arrancadas las alas, fue levantada de la tierra, se incorporó sobre sus patas como un hombre, y se le dio un corazón de hombre.
5 And behold, another beast, like a bear, stood to one side, and there were three rows in its mouth and in its teeth, and they spoke to it in this way: “Arise, devour much flesh.”	5 A continuación, otra segunda bestia, semejante a un oso, levantada de un costado, con tres costillas en las fauces, entre los dientes. Y se le decía: «Levántate, devora mucha carne».
6 After this, I watched, and behold, another like a leopard, and it had wings like a bird, four upon it, and four heads were on the beast, and power was given to it.	6 Después, yo seguía mirando y vi otra bestia como un leopardo con cuatro alas de ave en su dorso; la bestia tenía cuatro cabezas, y se le dio el dominio.
7 After this, I watched in the vision of the night, and behold, a fourth beast, terrible yet wondrous, and exceedingly strong; it had great iron teeth, eating yet crushing, and trampling down the remainder with his feet, but it was unlike the other beasts, which I had seen before it, and it had ten horns.	7 Después seguí mirando, en mis visiones nocturnas, y vi una cuarta bestia, terrible, espantosa, extraordinariamente fuerte; tenía enormes dientes de hierro; comía, triburaba, y lo sobrante lo pisoteaba con sus patas. Era diferente de las bestias anteriores y tenía diez cuernos.
8 I considered the horns, and behold, another little horn rose out of the midst of them. And three of the first horns were rooted out by its presence. And behold, eyes like the eyes of a man were in this horn, and a mouth speaking unnatural things.	8 Estaba yo observando los cuernos, cuando en esto despuntó entre ellos otro cuerno, pequeño, y tres de los primeros cuernos fueron arrancados delante de él. Tenía este cuerno ojos como los de un hombre, y una boca que decía grandes cosas.
9 I watched until thrones were set up, and the ancient of days sat down. His garment was radiant like snow, and the hair of his head like clean wool; his throne was flames of fire, its wheels had been set on fire.	9 Mientras yo contemplaba: Se aderezaron unos tronos y un Anciano se sentó. Su vestidura, blanca como la nieve; los cabellos de su cabeza, puros como la lana. Su trono, llamas de fuego, con ruedas de fuego ardiente.
10 A river of fire rushed forth from his presence. Thousands upon thousands ministered to him, and ten thousand times hundreds of thousands attended before him. The trial began, and the books were opened.	10 Un río de fuego corría y manaba delante de él. Miles de millares le servían, miriadas de miriadas estaban en pie delante de él. El tribunal se sentó, y se abrieron los libros.
11 I watched because of the voice of the great words which that horn was speaking, and I saw that the beast had been destroyed, and its body was ruined and had been handed over to be burnt with fire.	11 Miré entonces, atraído por el ruido de las grandes cosas que decía el cuerno, y estuve mirando hasta que la bestia fue muerta y su cuerpo destrozado y arrojado a la llama de fuego.
12 Likewise, the power of the other beasts was taken away, and a limited time of life was appointed to them, until one time and another.	12 A las otras bestias se les quitó el dominio, si bien se les concedió una prolongación de vida durante un tiempo y hora determinados.
13 I watched, therefore, in the vision of the night, and behold, with the clouds of heaven, one like a son of man arrived, and he approached all the way to the ancient of days, and they presented him before him.	13 Yo seguía contemplando en las visiones de la noche: Y he aquí que en las nubes del cielo venía como un Hijo de hombre. Se dirigió hacia el Anciano y fue llevado a su presencia.
14 And he gave him power, and honor, and the kingdom, and all peoples, tribes, and languages will serve him. His power is an eternal power, which will not be taken away, and his kingdom, one which will not be corrupted.	14 A él se le dio imperio, honor y reino, y todos los pueblos, naciones y lenguas le sirvieron. Su imperio es un imperio eterno, que nunca pasará, y su reino no será destruido jamás.
15 My spirit was terrified. I, Daniel, was fearful at these things, and the visions of my head disturbed me.	15 Yo, Daniel, quedé muy impresionado en mi espíritu por estas cosas, y las visiones de mi cabeza me dejaron turbado.
16 I approached one of the attendants and asked the truth from him about all these things. He told me the interpretation of the words, and he instructed me:	16 Me acerqué a uno de los que estaban allí de pie y le pedí que me dijera la verdad acerca de todo esto. El me respondió y me indicó la interpretación de estas cosas:
17 “These four great beasts are four kingdoms, which will rise from the earth.	17 «Estas cuatro grandes bestias son cuatro reyes que surgirán de la tierra.
18 Yet it is the saints of the Most High God who will receive the kingdom, and they will hold the kingdom from this generation, and forever and ever.”	18 Los que han de recibir el reino son los santos del Altísimo, que poseerán el reino eternamente, por los siglos de los siglos».
19 After this, I wanted to learn diligently about the fourth beast, which was very different from all, and exceedingly terrible; his teeth and claws were of iron; he devoured and crushed, and the remainder he trampled with his feet;	19 Después quise saber la verdad sobre la cuarta bestia, que era diferente de las otras, extraordinariamente terrible, con dientes de hierro y uñas de bronce, que comía, trituraba y pisoteaba con sus patas lo sobrante;
20 and about the ten horns, which he had on his head, and about the other, which had sprung up, before which three horns fell, and about that horn which had eyes and a mouth speaking great things, and which was more powerful than the rest.	20 y acerca de los diez cuernos que había en su cabeza, y del otro cuerno que había despuntado, ante el cual cayeron los tres primeros; y de este cuerno que tenía ojos y una boca que decía grandes cosas, y cuyo aspecto era mayor que el de los otros.
21 I watched, and behold, that horn made war against the holy ones and prevailed over them,	21 Yo contemplaba cómo este cuerno hacía la guerra a los santos y los iba subyugando,
22 until the Ancient of days came and gave judgment to the holy ones of the Supreme One, and the time arrived, and the holy ones obtained the kingdom.	22 hasta que vino el Anciano a hacer justicia a los santos del Altísimo, y llegó el tiempo en que los santos poseyeron el reino.
23 And thus he said, “The fourth beast will be the fourth kingdom on earth, which will be greater than all the kingdoms, and will devour the whole earth, and will trample and crush it.	23 El habló así: «La cuarta bestia será un cuarto reino que habrá en la tierra, diferente de todos los reinos. Devorará toda la tierra, la aplastará y la pulverizará.
24 Moreover, the ten horns of the same kingdom will be ten kings, and another will rise up after them, and he will be mightier than the ones before him, and he will bring down three kings.	24 Y los diez cuernos: de este reino saldrán diez reyes, y otro saldrá después de ellos; será diferente de los primeros y derribará a tres reyes;
25 And he will speak words against the Supreme One, and will exhaust the holy ones of the Most High, and he will think about what it would take to change the times and the laws, and they will be given into his hand until a time, and times, and half a time.	25 proferirá palabras contra el Altísimo y pondrá a prueba a los santos del Altísimo. Tratará de cambiar los tiempos y la ley, y los santos serán entregados en sus manos por un tiempo y tiempos y medio tiempo.
26 And a trial will begin, so that his power may be taken away, and be crushed, and be undone all the way to the end.	26 Pero el tribunal se sentará, y el dominio le será quitado, para ser destruido y aniquilado definitivamente.
27 Yet the kingdom, and the power, and the greatness of that kingdom, which is under all of heaven, shall be given to the people of the holy ones of the Most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all kings will serve and obey him.”	27 Y el reino y el imperio y la grandeza de los reinos bajo los cielos todos serán dados al pueblo de los santos del Altísimo. Reino eterno es su reino, y todos los imperios le servirán y le obedecerán».
28 And here is the end of the message. I, Daniel, was greatly disturbed by my thoughts, and my mood was changed in me, but I preserved the message in my heart.	28 Hasta aquí la relación. Yo, Daniel, quedé muy turbado en mis pensamientos, se me demudó el color del rostro y guardé estas cosas en mi corazón.
