Jeremiah 39

1 In the ninth year of Zedekiah, the king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem, with his entire army, and they besieged it.	1 Il nono anno di Sedecia re di Giuda, nel decimo mese, Nabucodonosor re di Babilonia venne con tutto il suo esercito a Gerusalemme e la fece assediare.
2 Then, in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, on the fifth of the month, the city was opened.	2 E l'anno undecimo di Sedecia, nel quarto mese, ai cinque del mese, la città fu presa.
3 And all the rulers of the king of Babylon entered and were seated at the middle gate: Nergal-Sharezer, the priest of Nebo, Sarsechim, the chief eunuch, Nergal-Sharezer, the chief magi, and all the other rulers of the king of Babylon.	3 E v'entrarono tutti i principi del re di Babilonia, e si stabilirono alla porta di mezzo: Neregel, Sereser, Semegarnabu, Sarsachim, Rabsares, Neregel, Sereser, Rebmag, e tutti gli altri principi del re di Babilonia.
4 And when Zedekiah, the king of Judah, with all the men of war, had seen them, they fled. And they departed from the city at night, by way of the king’s garden, and through the gate which was between the two walls. And they departed along the way of the desert.	4 Quando Sedecia re di Giuda e tutta la gente di guerra li ebbero veduti, fuggirono, e di notte tempo usciron dalla città per la strada del giardino del re, per la porta che era tra i due muri, e presero la via del deserto.
5 But the army of the Chaldeans pursued them. And they overtook Zedekiah in the plain of the desert of Jericho. And having captured him, they led him to Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, at Riblah, which is in the land of Hamath. And he declared a judgment against him	5 Ma l'esercito dei Caldei tenne loro dietro, e raggiunse Sedecia nella deserta campagna di Gerico. Avendolo preso, lo condussero a Nabucodonosor re di Babilonia in Reblata, che è nella terra d'Emat, ed egli pronunziò contro di lui la sentenza.
6 And the king of Babylon killed the sons of Zedekiah, at Riblah, before his eyes. And the king of Babylon killed all the nobles of Judah.	6 In Reblata il re di Babilonia uccise i figli di Sedecia sotto gli occhi di lui, e fece morire tutti i nobili di Giuda, il re di Babilonia.
7 Also, he plucked out the eyes of Zedekiah. And he bound him with fetters, to be led away to Babylon.	7 Fece poi cavar gli occhi a Sedecia, e lo mise in ceppi, per farlo condurre a Babilonia.
8 Also, the Chaldeans burned the house of the king and the house of the people with fire, and they overturned the wall of Jerusalem.	8 I Caldei diedero alle fiamme la casa del re e le case del popolo, ed abbatteron le mura di Gerusalemme.
9 And Nebuzaradan, the leader of the military, carried away captive to Babylon the remnant of the people who had remained in the city, and the fugitives who had fled to him, and all the rest of the people who had remained.	9 Nabuzardan capo dei soldati trasportò a Babilonia il resto del popolo rimasto nella città, e i disertori che si eran rifugiati presso di lui, e gli avanzi del volgo che era rimasto.
10 And Nebuzaradan, the leader of the military, released some of the poor people, those who had almost nothing, into the land of Judah. And he gave them vineyards and cisterns in that day.	10 Della turba dei poveri, di quelli che non avevan proprio niente, Nabuzardan capo dei soldati ne lasciò nella terra di Giuda, donando loro in quel giorno vigne e cisterne.
11 Now Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, had instructed Nebuzaradan, the leader of the military, about Jeremiah, saying:	11 Riguardo a Geremia, Nabucodonosor re di Babilonia aveva dato a Nabuzardan capo dei soldati quest'ordine:
12 “Take him, and set your eyes on him, and you shall do no harm to him at all. But as he is willing, so shall you do with him.”	12 « Prendilo, abbine cura, non gli fare alcun male, ma agisci riguardo a lui come egli desidera ».
13 Therefore, Nebuzaradan, the leader of the military, sent, and Nebushazban, the chief eunuch, and Nergal-Sharezer, the chief magi, and all the nobles of the king of Babylon sent,	13 Per questo, Nabuzardan capo dell'esercito, Nabusezban, Rabsares, Neregel, Sereser, Rebmag, e tutti i capi del re di Babilonia,
14 and they took Jeremiah from the vestibule of the prison, and they delivered him to Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, so that he could enter a house and live among the people.	14 mandarono a prendere Geremia dal vestibolo della prigione, e lo consegnarono a Godolia, figlio di Ahicain figlio di Safan, perchè lo facesse entrare in casa e abitare in mezzo al popolo.
15 But the word of the Lord had come to Jeremiah, when he had been confined to the vestibule of the prison, saying: “Go, and speak to Ebedmelech, the Ethiopian, saying:	15 Or a Geremia, mentre era chiuso nel vestibolo del carcere, era stata indirizzata la parola di Dio in questi termini:
16 Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will bring my words over this city for evil, and not for good; and they shall be in your sight in that day.	16 « Va a dire all'etiope Abdemelec: Queste cose dice il Signore degli eserciti il Dio d'Israele: Ecco io adempirò le mie parole sopra questa città, in male e non in bene, e in quel giorno si avvereranno sotto i tuoi occhi.
17 And I will free you in that day, says the Lord. And you will not be delivered into the hands of the men whom you dread.	17 Ma in quel giorno io ti libererò — dice il Signore — e tu non sarai dato nelle mani di uomini di cui hai paura.
18 But when delivering, I will free you. And you will not fall by the sword. Instead, your life will be saved for you, because you had faith in me, says the Lord.”	18 In ogni maniera io ti libererò, e tu non perirai di spada, ma salverai la tua vita, perchè hai riposta la fiducia in me — dice il Signore ».
