Isaiah 54

1 Give praise, you who are barren and unable to conceive. Sing praise and make a joyful noise, you who have not given birth. For many are the children of the desolate, more so than of her who has a husband, says the Lord.	1 Canta inni, o sterile che non partorisci, canta inni di lode e di gioia, tu che non hai nati, perchè i figlioli dell'abbandonata saran più numerosi di quelli di colei che ha marito — dice il Signore. —
2 Enlarge the place of your tent and extend the skins of your tabernacles, unsparingly. Lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes.	2 Allargalo spazio della tua tenda, distendi senza risparmio i teli dei tuoi padiglioni, allunga le tue funi, rendi più solidi i tuoi piuoli,
3 For you shall extend to the right and to the left. And your offspring shall inherit the nations, and you shall inhabit the desolate cities.	3 perchè ti allargherai a destra e a sinistra, la tua stirpe dominerà le nazioni e abiterà le città deserte.
4 Do not be afraid! For you will not be confounded, and you will not blush. And you will not be put to shame, because you shall forget the confusion of your youth, and you shall no longer remember the disgrace of your widowhood.	4 Non temere, perchè tu non sarai più confusa, non avrai più da arrossire, nè da vergognarti, perchè dimenticherai l'onta di tua adolescenza, e non ti ricorderai più dell'ignominia di tua vedovanza;
5 For the One who made you will rule over you. The Lord of hosts is his name. And your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, will be called the God of all the earth.	5 perchè sarà tuo signore il tuo creatore: il suo nome è: Signore degli eserciti, il tuo redentore è il Santo d'Israele, e sarà chiamato: Dio di tutta la terra,
6 For the Lord has called you, like a woman forsaken and mourning in spirit, and like a wife rejected in her youth, said your God.	6 perchè come donna abbandonata ed afflitta di spirito il Signore ti ha chiamata, come sposa ripudiata nei verdi anni, dice il tuo Dio.
7 For a brief moment, I have forsaken you, and with great pities, I will gather you.	7 Per un momento, per poco tempo ti ho abbandonata e ti accoglierò con grandi misericordie.
8 In a moment of indignation, I have hidden my face from you, for a little while. But with everlasting mercy, I have taken pity on you, said your Redeemer, the Lord.	8 Nel momento del mio furore nascosi a te per un istante la mia faccia, ma con eterna misericordia, ho avuto compassione di te — dice il Signore tuo redentore.
9 For me, it is just as in the days of Noah, to whom I swore that I would no longer bring in the waters of Noah over the earth. Thus have I sworn not to be angry with you, and not to rebuke you.	9 Per me sarà come ai tempi di Noè, a cui giurai che le acque di Noè non le avrei più mandate sulla terra; così ho giurato di non irritarmi con te, di non più rimproverarti.
10 For the mountains will be moved, and the hills will tremble. But my mercy will not depart from you, and the covenant of my peace will not be shaken, said the Lord, who has compassion on you.	10 I monti crolleranno, le colline saranno sconvolte, ma non si ritirerà da te la mia misericordia, e la mia alleanza di paee sarà immobile — dice chi ha compassione di te, il Signore.
11 O poor little ones, convulsed by the tempest, away from any consolation! Behold, I will set your stones in order, and I will lay your foundation with sapphires,	11 Poverina, sbattuta dalla tempesta, priva d'ogni consolazione, ecco io metterò al loro posto le tue pietre, e ti fonderò sugli zaffiri;
12 and I will make your ramparts out of jasper, and your gates out of sculpted stones, and all your borders out of desirable stones.	12 farò di iaspide i tuoi baluardi, e le tue porte di pietre scolpite, e tutta la tua cinta di pietre preziose.
13 All your children will be taught by the Lord. And great will be the peace of your children.	13 Tutti i tuoi figli saranno istruiti dal Signore, i tuoi figli avranno abbondanza di pace.
14 And you will be founded in justice. Depart far from oppression, for you will not be afraid. And depart from terror, for it will not approach you.	14 E tu sarai fondata nella giustizia. Lungi da te la calunnia, chè non avrai da temere, e lo spavento, perchè non potrà avvicinarsi a te.
15 Behold, a settler will arrive, who was not with me, a certain new arrival will be joined to you.	15 Ecco, verrà il forestiero che non era con me, chi era una volta straniero si unirà teco.
16 Behold, I created the smith who fans the coals of the fire and produces an object by his work, and I have created the slayer who destroys.	16 Ecco, io ho creato il fabbro che soffia sui carboni ardenti per formare uno strumento pel suo lavoro, ed ho creato l'uccisore per sterminare.
17 No object which has been formed to use against you will succeed. And every tongue that resists you in judgment, you shall judge. This is the inheritance of the servants of the Lord, and this is their justice with me, says the Lord.	17 Ogni arma preparata contro di te sarà senza effetto, condannerai ogni lingua che ti resisterà in giudizio. Questa è l'eredità dei servi del Signore, la loro giustizia dinnanzi a me — dice il Signore.
