Isaiah 45

1 Thus says the Lord to my anointed Cyrus, whose right hand I hold, so that I may subjugate the nations before his face, and I may turn the backs of kings, and I may open the doors before him, and so that the gates will not be shut.	1 Così ha detto il Signore a Ciro, suo unto, ed il quale io ho preso, dice egli, per la man destra, per atterrar davanti a lui le genti, e sciogliere i lombi dei re; per aprir gli usci dinanzi a lui, e far che le porte non gli sieno serrate:
2 I will go before you. And I will humble the glorious ones of the earth. I will shatter the gates of brass, and I will break apart the bars of iron.	2 Io andrò dinanzi a te, e dirizzerò le vie distorte; io romperò le porte di rame, e spezzerò le sbarre di ferro.
3 And I will give you hidden treasures and the knowledge of secret things, so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, who calls your name.	3 E ti darò i tesori riposti in luoghi tenebrosi, e le cose nascoste in luoghi segreti; acciocchè tu conosca che io sono il Signore, l’Iddio d’Israele, che ti ho chiamato per lo tuo nome;
4 For the sake of Jacob, my servant, and Israel, my elect, I have even called you by your name. I have taken you up, and you have not known me.	4 per amor di Giacobbe, mio servitore, e d’Israele, mio eletto; anzi ti ho chiamato per lo tuo nome, e ti ho soprannominato, benchè tu non mi conoscessi
5 I am the Lord, and there is no one else. There is no god beside me. I girded you, and you have not known me.	5 Io sono il Signore, e non ve n’è alcun altro; non vi è Dio alcuno fuor che me; io ti ho cinto, benchè tu non mi conoscessi;
6 So may those who are from the rising of the sun, and those who are from its setting, know that there is no one beside me. I am the Lord, and there is no other.	6 acciocchè si conosca dal sol levante, e dal Ponente, che non vi è alcun Dio fuor che me. Io sono il Signore, e non ve n’è alcun altro;
7 I form the light and create the darkness. I make peace and create disaster. I, the Lord, do all these things.	7 che formo la luce, e creo le tenebre; che fo la pace, e creo il male. Io sono il Signore, che fo tutte queste cose.
8 Send down dew from above, O heavens, and let the clouds rain down upon the just! Let the earth open and spring forth a savior! And let justice rise up at once! I, the Lord, have created him.	8 Cieli, gocciolate da alto, e stillino le nuvole la giustizia; aprasi la terra, e fruttino la salute, e la giustizia; facciale quella germogliare insieme. Io, il Signore, ho creato questo.
9 Woe to him who contradicts his Maker, a mere shard from an earthen vessel! Should the clay say to the potter, “What are you making?” or, “Your work is not made by your hands?”	9 Guai a chi contende col suo Formatore! contenda il testo co’ testi di terra; l’argilla dirà ella al suo formatore: Che fai? non vi è alcuna opera di mani nel tuo lavoro.
10 Woe to him who says to his father, “Why did you conceive?” or to a woman, “Why did you give birth?”	10 Guai a chi dice al padre: Che generi? ed alla donna: Che partorisci?
11 Thus says the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, his Maker: Would you question me about the future, concerning my sons, and command me concerning the work of my hands?	11 Così ha detto il Signore, il Santo d’Israele, e suo Formatore: Domandatemi delle cose avvenire; ordinatemi ciò che io ho da fare intorno a’ miei figliuoli, ed all’opera delle mie mani.
12 I made the earth, and I created man upon it. My hand stretched out the heavens, and I have commanded all their hosts.	12 Io ho fatta la terra, ed ho creati gli uomini che sono sopra essa; le mie mani hanno distesi i cieli, ed io ho dati gli ordini a tutto il loro esercito.
13 I have raised him up unto justice, and I will direct all his ways. He himself will build my city and release my captives, but not for ransom or gifts, says the Lord, the God of hosts.	13 Io ho suscitato quell’uomo in giustizia, e addirizzerò tutte le sue imprese; egli riedificherà la mia città, e rimanderà il mio popolo, che sarà stato in cattività, senza prezzo, e senza presente, ha detto il Signor degli eserciti.
14 Thus says the Lord: The labor of Egypt, and the business dealings of Ethiopia, and of the Sabeans, men of stature, will pass to you and will be yours. They will walk behind you. They will travel, bound in irons. And they will adore you and petition you: “In you alone is God, and there is no God apart from you.	14 Così ha detto il Signore: La fatica dell’Egitto, e il traffico degli Etiopi, e de’ Sabei, uomini di grande statura, passeranno a te, e saranno tuoi, o Gerusalemme; que’ popoli cammineranno dietro a te, passeranno co’ ceppi, e s’inchineranno dinanzi a te; ti supplicheranno, dicendo: Certo in te è Iddio; e fuor d’Iddio, non vi è alcun altro Dio.
15 Truly, you are a hidden God, the God of Israel, the Savior.”	15 Veramente tu sei l’Iddio, che ti nascondi, l’Iddio d’Israele, il Salvatore.
16 They have all been confounded and should be ashamed! These fabricators of errors have departed together into confusion!	16 Essi tutti sono stati confusi e svergognati; gli artefici degl’idoli se ne sono andati tutti quanti con vituperio.
17 Israel is saved in the Lord by an eternal salvation. You will not be confounded, and you will not be ashamed, even forever and ever.	17 Ma Israele è stato salvato dal Signore, di una salute eterna; voi Israeliti non sarete giammai in eterno confusi, nè svergognati.
18 For thus says the Lord, who created the heavens, God himself who formed the earth and made it, the very Molder of it. He did not create it to no purpose. He formed it so that it would be inhabited. I am the Lord, and there is no other.	18 Perciocchè, così ha detto il Signore che ha creati i cieli; l’Iddio, che ha formata la terra, e l’ha fatta, e l’ha stabilita, e non l’ha creata per restar vacua, anzi l’ha formata per essere abitata: Io sono il Signore, e non ve n’è alcun altro.
19 I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth. I have not said to the offspring of Jacob, “Seek me in vain.” I am the Lord, who speaks justice, who announces what is right.	19 Io non ho parlato di nascosto, nè in luogo tenebroso della terra; io non ho detto alla progenie di Giacobbe in vano: Cercatemi; io sono il Signore, che parlo in giustizia, ed annunzio cose diritte
20 Assemble yourselves, and approach, and draw near together, you who have been saved among the Gentiles. They lack knowledge, who lift up the wood of their sculpture, and who petition a god unable to save.	20 Adunatevi, e venite; accostatevi tutti quanti voi che siete scampati d’infra le genti. Quelli che portano il legno della loro scultura, e fanno orazione ad un dio che non può salvare, non hanno conoscimento alcuno.
21 Announce it, and approach, and consult together. Who has caused this to be heard from the beginning, and who has foretold it from that time? Is it not I, the Lord? And is there some other god beside me? I am a just God who saves, and there is no one except me.	21 Annunziate loro, e fateli appressare, ed anche prendano consiglio insieme; chi ha fatto intender questo ab antico, chi l’ha annunziato già da lungo tempo? non son desso io, il Signore, fuor del quale non vi è alcun altro Dio? l’Iddio giusto, e Salvatore; fuor di me non ve n’è alcun altro.
22 All ends of the earth, be converted to me, and you will be saved. For I am God, and there is no other.	22 Riguardate a me, voi tutti i termini della terra, e siate salvati; perciocchè io sono Iddio, e non ve n’è alcun altro.
23 I have sworn by myself. The Word of justice will proceed from my mouth, and it will not turn back.	23 Io ho giurato per me stesso, una parola è uscita della mia bocca, in giustizia, e non sarà revocata: Che ogni ginocchio si piegherà davanti a me, ed ogni lingua giurerà per me.
24 For every knee shall bend to me, and every tongue shall swear it.	24 Ei si dirà di me: Veramente nel Signore è ogni giustizia e forza; tutti quelli che sono accesi d’ira contro a lui verranno a lui, e saranno confusi.
25 Therefore, he will say, “In the Lord are my justices and my dominion.” They will go to him. And all who fight against him will be confounded.	25 Tutta la progenie d’Israele sarà giustificata nel Signore, e si glorierà in lui
26 In the Lord, all the offspring of Israel will be justified and praised.
