Isaiah 30

1 “Woe to the sons of apostasy!” says the Lord. For you would take advice, but not from me. And you would begin to weave, but not by my spirit. Thus do you add sin upon sin!	1 ¡Ay de los hijos rebeldes –oráculo del Señor– que hacen planes sin cortar conmigo, que concluyen pactos contrarios a mi espíritu. añadiendo así un pecado tras otro!
2 You are walking so as to descend into Egypt, and you have not sought answers from my mouth, instead hoping for assistance from the strength of Pharaoh and placing trust in the shadow of Egypt.	2 Se ponen en camino para bajar a Egipto sin haberme consultado, para refugiarme al amparo del Faraón y protegerse a la sombra de Egipto.
3 And so, the strength of Pharaoh will be your confusion, and trust in the shadow of Egypt will be your disgrace.	3 El amparo del Faraón será su vergüenza y la protección a la sombra de Egipto, su confusión.
4 For your leaders were at Tanis, and your messengers have traveled even as far as Hanes.	4 Aunque sus jefes estén en Soán y sus mensajeros hayan llegado a Janés,
5 They have all been confounded because of a people who were not able to offer profit to them, who were not of assistance, nor of other usefulness, except to offer confusion and reproach.	5 todos ellos serán defraudados por un pueblo que no sirve de nada, que no les aporta ayuda ni provecho, sino vergüenza y oprobio.
6 The burden of the beasts in the south. In a land of tribulation and anguish, from which go forth the lioness and the lion, the viper and the flying king snake, they carry their riches upon the shoulders of beasts of burden, and their valuables upon the humps of camels, to a people who are not able to offer profit to them.	6 Oráculo sobre las bestias del Négueb: Por una tierra de miseria y angustia, de donde salen la leona y el león, la víbora y la serpiente voladora, ellos llevan sus riquezas a lomo de asnos y sus tesoros sobre la giba de los camellos, a un pueblo que no sirve de nada.
7 For Egypt will offer assistance, but without purpose or success. Therefore, concerning this, I cried out: “It is only arrogance! Remain calm.”	7 ¡Egipto! Su ayuda es inútil y vana; por eso yo lo llamé: «Rahab, la inmóvil».
8 Now, therefore, enter and write for them upon a tablet, and note it diligently in a book, and this shall be a testimony in the last days, and even unto eternity.	8 Ahora ve, escribe esto en una tabla, delante de ellos, e inscríbelo en un libro: que sirva de testimonio perpetuo para el tiempo futuro.
9 For they are a people who provoke to wrath, and they are lying sons, sons unwilling to listen to the law of God.	9 Porque este es un pueblo en rebeldía, son hijos mentirosos, hijos que no quieren escuchar la enseñanza del Señor.
10 They say to the seers, “Do not see,” and to those who behold: “Do not behold for us the things that are right. Speak to us of pleasing things. See errors for us.	10 Ellos dicen a los videntes: «¡No tengan visiones!», y a los profetas: «¡No nos vaticinen la verdad! ¡Háblennos de cosas agradables, tengan visiones ilusorias!
11 Take me from the way. Avert me from the path. Let the Holy One of Israel cease from before our face.”	11 ¡Apártense del camino, desvíense del sendero, dejen de ponernos por delante al Santo de Israel!».
12 Because of this, thus says the Holy One of Israel: Since you have rejected this word, and you have hoped in calumny and rebellion, and since you have depended upon these things,	12 Por eso, así habla el Santo de Israel: Porque ustedes desprecian esta palabra y confían en lo que es tortuoso y retorcido, para tener donde apoyarse,
13 for this reason, this iniquity will be to you like a breach that has fallen, and like a gap in a high wall. For its destruction will happen suddenly, when it is not expected.	13 por eso, esta falta será para ustedes como una grieta amenazadora que se va agrandando en un muro elevado, y de pronto, en un instante, sobreviene el derrumbe;
14 And it will be crushed, just as the earthen vessel of a potter is destroyed by a sharp blow. And not even a fragment of its earthenware will be found, which might carry a little fire from the hearth, or which might draw a little water from a hollow.	14 o como se quiebra una vasija de alfarero hecha añicos sin piedad, sin que se encuentre entre sus pedazos ni un trozo para sacar fuego del brasero o para extraer agua del aljibe.
15 For thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: If you return and are quiet, you shall be saved. Your strength will be found in silence and in hope. But you are not willing!	15 Porque así habla el Señor, el Santo de Israel: En la conversión y en la calma está la salvación de ustedes; en la serenidad y la confianza está su fuerza. ¡Pero ustedes no lo han querido!
16 And you have said: “Never! Instead, we will flee by horseback.” For this reason, you will be put to flight. And you have said, “We will climb upon swift ones.” For this reason, those who pursue you will be even swifter.	16 Ustedes dijeron: «¡No, huiremos a caballo!». Está bien, tendrán que huir. «¡Cabalgaremos velozmente!». Está bien, sus perseguidores serán más veloces.
17 A thousand men will flee in terror from the face of one, and you will flee in terror from the face of five, until you who have been left behind are like the mast of a ship at the top of a mountain, or like a sign on a hill.	17 Ante la amenaza de uno solo, temblarán mil; ante la amenaza de cinco, ustedes huirán, hasta que sean dejados como un mástil en la cumbre de una montaña, como señal sobre una colina.
18 Therefore, the Lord waits, so that he may take pity on you. And therefore, he will be exalted for sparing you. For the Lord is the God of judgment. Blessed are all those who wait for him.	18 A pesar de todo, el Señor espera para apiadarse de ustedes; a pesar de todo, él se levantará para tenerles compasión; porque el Señor es un Dios de justicia. ¡Felices todos los que esperan en él!
19 For the people of Zion will live in Jerusalem. Bitterly, you will not weep. Mercifully, he will take pity on you. At the voice of your outcry, as soon as he hears, he will respond to you.	19 Sí, pueblo de Sión, que habitas en Jerusalén, ya no tendrás que llorar: él se apiadará de ti al oír tu clamor; apenas te escuche, te responderá.
20 And the Lord will give you thick bread and accessible water. And he will not cause your teacher to fly away from you anymore. And your eyes will behold your instructor.	20 Cuando el Señor les haya dado el pan de la angustia y el agua de la aflicción, aquel que te instruye no se ocultará más, sino que verás a tu maestro con tus propios ojos.
21 And your ears will listen to the word of one admonishing you behind your back: “This is the way! Walk in it! And do not turn aside, neither to the right, nor to the left.”	21 Tus oídos escucharán detrás de ti una palabra: «Este es el camino, síganlo, aunque se hayan desviado a la derecha o a la izquierda».
22 And you will defile the plates of your silver graven images and the vestment of your gold molten idols. And you will throw these things away like the uncleanness of a menstruating woman. You will say to it, “Go away!”	22 Tendrás por impuros a tus ídolos recubiertos de plata y a tus estatuas enchapadas en oro; los arrojarás como inmundicia, y les dirás: «¡Fuera de aquí!».
23 And wherever you sow seed upon the earth, rain will be given to the seed. And bread from the grain of the earth will be very plentiful and full. In that day, the lamb will pasture in the spacious land of your possession.	23 El Señor te dará lluvia para la semilla que siembres en el suelo, y el pan que produzca el terreno será rico y sustancioso. Aquel día, tu ganado pacerá en extensas praderas.
24 And your bulls, and the colts of the donkeys that work the ground, will eat a mix of grains like that winnowed on the threshing floor.	24 Los bueyes y los asnos que trabajen el suelo comerán forraje bien sazonado, aventado con el bieldo y la horquilla.
25 And there will be, on every lofty mountain, and on every elevated hill, rivers of running water, in the day of the slaughter of many, when the tower will fall.	25 En todo monte elevado y en toda colina alta, habrá arroyos y corrientes de agua, el día de la gran masacre, cuando se derrumben las torres.
26 And the light of the moon will be like the light of the sun, and the light of the sun will be sevenfold, like the light of seven days, in the day when the Lord will bind the wound of his people, and when he will heal the stroke of their scourge.	26 Entonces, la luz de la luna será como la luz del sol, y la luz del sol será siete veces más intensa –como la luz de siete días– el día en que el Señor vende la herida de su pueblo y sane las llagas de los golpes que le infligió.
27 Behold, the name of the Lord arrives from far away. His fury is burning and heavy to bear. His lips have been filled with indignation, and his tongue is like a devouring fire.	27 ¡Miren que el nombre del Señor viene de lejos! Arde su ira y es densa la humareda; sus labios desbordan de indignación y su lengua es como fuego devorador.
28 His Spirit is like a torrent, inundating, even as high as the middle of the neck, in order to reduce the nations to nothing, along with the bridle of error that was in the jaws of the people.	28 Su aliento es como un torrente desbordado, que sube hasta el cuello, para zarandear a las naciones con la criba destructora y poner el freno del extravío en las quijadas de los pueblos.
29 There will be a song for you, as in the night of a sanctified solemnity, and a joy of heart, as when one travels with music to arrive at the mountain of the Lord, to the Strong One of Israel.	29 Entonces, ustedes cantarán como en la noche sagrada de la fiesta, y habrá alegría en los corazones, como cuando se avanza al son de la flauta para ir a la montaña del Señor, hacia la Roca de Israel.
30 And the Lord will cause the glory of his voice to be heard, and, with a threatening fury and a devouring flame of fire, he will reveal the terror of his arm. He will crush with the whirlwind and with hailstones.	30 El Señor hará oír su voz majestuosa y mostrará su brazo que se descarga en el ardor de su ira, en la llama de un fuego devorador, en el huracán, la tormenta y el granizo.
31 For at the voice of the Lord, Assur will dread being struck with the staff.	31 Asiria temblará ante la voz del Señor, que golpeará con el bastón;
32 And when the passage of the staff has been begun, the Lord will cause it to rest upon him, with timbrels and harps. And with special battles, he will fight against them.	32 y cada vez que pase la vara vengadora que el Señor descargará contra ella, irá acompañada de tamboriles y cítaras, en los combates que el Señor entablará con ella, blandiendo su brazo.
33 For a burning place, deep and wide, has been prepared from yesterday, prepared by the King. Its nourishment is fire and much wood. The breath of the Lord, like a torrent of brimstone, kindles it.	33 Porque la hoguera está preparada hace tiempo, está dispuesta también para el rey: se ha hecho una pira profunda y ancha, con fuego y leña en abundancia, y el soplo del Señor la encenderá como un torrente de azufre.
