Isaiah 2

1 The word that Isaiah, the son of Amoz, saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.	1 E cose vedute da Isaia, figliuolo di Amos, riguardo a Gerusalemme, e da Giuda.
2 And in the last days, the mountain of the house of the Lord will be prepared at the summit of the mountains, and it will be exalted above the hills, and all the nations shall flow to it.	2 E sarà negli ultimi giorni fondato il monte della casa del Signore sopra la cima di tutti i monti, e si alzerà sopra le colline, e correranno a lui tutte le genti.
3 And many peoples will go, and they will say: “Let us approach and ascend to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob. And he will teach us his ways, and we will walk in his paths.” For the law will go forth from Zion, and the Word of the Lord from Jerusalem.	3 E popoli molti verranno, e diranno: Venite, andiamo, e salghiamo al monte del Signore, e alla casa del Dio di Giacobbe; ed ei ci insegnerà le sue vie, e le vie di lui batteremo: perocché da Sionne verrà la legge, e da Gerusalemme la parola del Signore.
4 And he will judge the nations, and he will rebuke many peoples. And they shall forge their swords into plowshares, and their spears into sickles. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, neither will they continue to train for battle.	4 Ed ei sarà giudice delle genti, e convincerà popoli molti: e delle spade loro ne faran vomeri, e falci delle lor lance: non alzerà la spada popolo contro popolo, né si eserciteranno più a combattere.
5 O house of Jacob, let us approach and walk in the light of the Lord.	5 Casa di Giacobbe venite, e camminiamo nella luce del Signore;
6 For you have cast aside your people, the house of Jacob, because they have been filled up, as in past times, and because they have had soothsayers as the Philistines have, and because they have joined themselves to foreign servants.	6 Imperocché tu (Signore) hai rigettato il popol tuo, la casa di Giacobbe; perchè sono pieni come in antico, e hanno avuti degli auguri come i Filistei, e sono affezionati a' servi stranieri.
7 Their land has been filled with silver and gold. And there is no end to their storehouses.	7 Il (loro) paese è pieno d'argento, e d'oro e i suoi tesori sono inesausti.
8 And their land has been filled with horses. And their four-horse chariots are innumerable. And their land has been filled with idols. They have adored the work of their hands, which their own fingers have made.	8 E il loro paese è pieno di cavalli, e i suoi cocchi son senza numero. E il loro paese è pieno d'idoli: hanno adorato l'opera delle lor mani, fatta dalle lor dita.
9 And man has bowed himself down, and so man has become debased. Therefore, you should not forgive them.	9 E il piccolo s'incurvò, e il grande si umiliò; tu adunque non dar loro venia.
10 Enter into the rock, and hide in a ditch in the soil, from the presence of the fear of the Lord, and from the glory of his majesty.	10 Entra nella caverna, nasconditi nella fossa dalla faccia terribile del Signore, e dalla gloria della sua maestà.
11 The lofty eyes of man have been humbled, and the haughtiness of men will be bowed down. Then the Lord alone shall be exalted, in that day.	11 Gli occhi superbi dell'uomo sono umiliati, e la altura de' grandi sarà depressa: e il Signore solo sarà esaltato in quel giorno;
12 For the day of the Lord of hosts will prevail over all the proud and self-exalted, and over all the arrogant, and each one shall be humbled,	12 Imperocché il giorno del Signore degli eserciti per tutti i superbi, e altieri, e per tutti gli arroganti, e saranno umiliati.
13 and over all the straight and tall cedars of Lebanon, and over all the oaks of Bashan;	13 E per tutti i cedri del Libano alti, e diritti, e per tutte le querce di Basan;
14 and over all the lofty mountains, and over all the elevated hills;	14 E per tutti i monti eccelsi, e per tutti i colli elevati;
15 and over every lofty tower, and over every fortified wall;	15 E per tutte le torri eccelse, e per tutte le mura fortificate;
16 and over all the ships of Tarshish, and over all the beauty that may be seen.	16 E per tutte le navi di Tharso, e per tutto quello, che è bello a vedersi.
17 And the loftiness of men will be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men will be brought low. And the Lord alone shall be exalted, in that day.	17 E la sublimità degli uomini sarà incurvata, e umiliata l'altura de' grandi, e il Signore solo sarà esaltato in quel giorno.
18 And idols will be thoroughly crushed.	18 E gl'idoli tutti saranno stritolati.
19 And they will go into the caves of the rocks, and into the caverns of the earth, from the presence of the dread of the Lord, and from the glory of his majesty, when he will have risen up to strike the earth.	19 Ed entreranno nelle caverne de' massi, e nelle voragini della terra per la paura del Signore, e della gloria di sua maestà, allorché egli si leverà per flagellare la terra.
20 In that day, man shall cast aside his idols of silver and his images of gold, which he had made for himself, as if to reverence the moles and the bats.	20 In quel giorno l'uomo getterà via gl'idoli, e i simolacri, i quali col suo argento, e col suo oro si era egli fatti, per adorare le talpe, e i pipistrelli.
21 And so he will go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the caverns of stone, from the presence of the dread of the Lord, and from the glory of his majesty, when he will have risen up to strike the earth.	21 Ed entrerà nelle spaccature delle pietre, e nelle caverne de' massi per la paura del Signore, e della gloria di sua maestà, allorché egli si leverà per flagellare la terra.
22 Therefore, rest away from man, whose breath is in his nostrils, for he considers himself to be exalted.	22 Lasciate adunque star l'uomo, che ha lo spirito nelle narici; perocché egli è, che e stato riputato l'eccelso.
