Unto the end. A Psalm of David.1 [Psalm Of David When he was in the desert of Judah] God, you are my God, I pine for you; my heartthirsts for you, my body longs for you, as a land parched, dreary and waterless.
Hear, O God, my prayer of supplication. Rescue my soul from the fear of the enemy.2 Thus I have gazed on you in the sanctuary, seeing your power and your glory.
You have protected me from the assembly of the malignant, from a multitude of workers of iniquity.3 Better your faithful love than life itself; my lips wil praise you.
For they have sharpened their tongues like a sword; they have formed their bow into a bitter thing,4 Thus I will bless you al my life, in your name lift up my hands.
so that they may shoot arrows from hiding at the immaculate.5 Al my longings fulfil ed as with fat and rich foods, a song of joy on my lips and praise in my mouth.
They will suddenly shoot arrows at him, and they will not be afraid. They are resolute in their wicked talk. They have discussed hidden snares. They have said, “Who will see them?”6 On my bed when I think of you, I muse on you in the watches of the night,
They have been searching carefully for iniquities. Their exhaustive search has failed. Man will approach with a deep heart,7 for you have always been my help; in the shadow of your wings I rejoice;
and God will be exalted. The arrows of the little ones have become their wounds,8 my heart clings to you, your right hand supports me.
and their tongues have been weakened against them. All those who saw them have been troubled;9 May those who are hounding me to death go down to the depths of the earth,
and every man was afraid. And they announced the works of God, and they understood his acts.10 given over to the blade of the sword, and left as food for jackals.
The just will rejoice in the Lord, and they will hope in him. And all the upright of heart will be praised.11 Then the king shall rejoice in God, al who swear by him shal gain recognition, for the mouths of liarsshall be silenced.
