Psalms 114

CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAINNEW AMERICAN BIBLE
Alleluia. I have loved: therefore, the Lord will heed the voice of my prayer.1 When Israel came forth from Egypt, the house of Jacob from an alien people,
For he has inclined his ear to me. And in my days, I will call upon him.2 Judah became God's holy place, Israel, God's domain.
The sorrows of death have surrounded me, and the perils of Hell have found me. I have found tribulation and sorrow.3 The sea beheld and fled; the Jordan turned back.
And so, I called upon the name of the Lord. O Lord, free my soul.4 The mountains skipped like rams; the hills, like lambs of the flock.
Merciful is the Lord, and just. And our God is compassionate.5 Why was it, sea, that you fled? Jordan, that you turned back?
The Lord is the keeper of little ones. I was humbled, and he freed me.6 You mountains, that you skipped like rams? You hills, like lambs of the flock?
Turn again, my soul, to your rest. For the Lord has done good to you.7 Tremble, earth, before the Lord, before the God of Jacob,
For he has rescued my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from slipping.8 Who turned rock into pools of water, stone into flowing springs.
I will please the Lord in the land of the living.
