Alleluia. Confess to the Lord, and invoke his name. Announce his works among the nations.1 Bless Yahweh, my soul, Yahweh, my God, how great you are! Clothed in majesty and splendour,
Sing to him, and sing psalms to him. Describe all his wonders.2 wearing the light as a robe! You stretch out the heavens like a tent,
Be praised in his holy name. Let the heart of those who seek the Lord rejoice.3 build your palace on the waters above, making the clouds your chariot, gliding on the wings of thewind,
Seek the Lord, and be confirmed. Seek his face always.4 appointing the winds your messengers, flames of fire your servants.
Remember his miracles, which he has done, his portents and the judgments of his mouth:5 You fixed the earth on its foundations, for ever and ever it shal not be shaken;
you offspring of Abraham his servant, you sons of Jacob his elect.6 you covered it with the deep like a garment, the waters overtopping the mountains.
He is the Lord our God. His judgments are throughout the entire earth.7 At your reproof the waters fled, at the voice of your thunder they sped away,
He has remembered his covenant for all ages: the word that he entrusted to a thousand generations,8 flowing over mountains, down val eys, to the place you had fixed for them;
which he assigned to Abraham, and his oath to Isaac.9 you made a limit they were not to cross, they were not to return and cover the earth.
And he stationed the same for Jacob with a precept, and for Israel with an eternal testament,10 In the ravines you opened up springs, running down between the mountains,
saying: To you, I will give the land of Canaan, the allotment of your inheritance.11 supplying water for al the wild beasts; the wild asses quench their thirst,
Though they may have been but a small number, very few and foreigners there,12 on their banks the birds of the air make their nests, they sing among the leaves.
and though they passed from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people,13 From your high hal s you water the mountains, satisfying the earth with the fruit of your works:
he allowed no man to harm them, and he reproved kings on their behalf.14 for cattle you make the grass grow, and for people the plants they need, to bring forth food from theearth,
Do not be willing to touch my Christ, and do not be willing to malign my prophets.15 and wine to cheer people's hearts, oil to make their faces glow, food to make them sturdy of heart.
And he called a famine upon the land, and he crushed every foundation of the bread.16 The trees of Yahweh drink their fill, the cedars of Lebanon which he sowed;
He sent a man before them: Joseph, who had been sold as a slave.17 there the birds build their nests, on the highest branches the stork makes its home;
They humbled his feet in shackles; the iron pierced his soul,18 for the wild goats there are the mountains, in the crags the coneys find refuge.
until his word arrived. The eloquence of the Lord inflamed him.19 He made the moon to mark the seasons, the sun knows when to set.
The king sent and released him; he was the ruler of the people, and he dismissed him.20 You bring on darkness, and night fal s, when al the forest beasts roam around;
He established him as master of his house and ruler of all his possessions,21 young lions roar for their prey, asking God for their food.
so that he might instruct his princes as himself, and teach his elders prudence.22 The sun rises and away they steal, back to their lairs to lie down,
And Israel entered into Egypt, and Jacob became a sojourner in the land of Ham.23 and man goes out to work, to labour til evening falls.
And he helped his people greatly, and he strengthened them over their enemies.24 How countless are your works, Yahweh, al of them made so wisely! The earth is ful of yourcreatures.
He turned their heart to hate his people, and to deal deceitfully with his servants.25 Then there is the sea, with its vast expanses teeming with countless creatures, creatures both greatand smal ;
He sent Moses, his servant, and Aaron, the one whom he chose.26 there ships pass to and fro, and Leviathan whom you made to sport with.
He placed with them signs of his word, and portents in the land of Ham.27 They al depend upon you, to feed them when they need it.
He sent darkness and made it conceal, and he did not afflict them with his speech.28 You provide the food they gather, your open hand gives them their fil .
He turned their waters into blood, and he slaughtered their fish.29 Turn away your face and they panic; take back their breath and they die and revert to dust.
Their land brought forth frogs, even in the inner chambers of their kings.30 Send out your breath and life begins; you renew the face of the earth.
He spoke, and there came forth common flies and gnats, in every region.31 Glory to Yahweh for ever! May Yahweh find joy in his creatures!
He gave them a shower of hail and a burning fire, in the same land.32 At his glance the earth trembles, at his touch the mountains pour forth smoke.
And he struck their vineyards and their fig trees, and he crushed the trees of their region.33 I shal sing to Yahweh al my life, make music for my God as long as I live.
He spoke, and the locust came forth, and the caterpillar, of which there was no number.34 May my musings be pleasing to him, for Yahweh gives me joy.
And it devoured all the grass in their land, and it consumed all the fruit of their land.35 May sinners vanish from the earth, and the wicked exist no more! Bless Yahweh, my soul.
And he struck all the first-born in their land, the first-fruits of all their labor.
And he led them out with silver and gold, and there was not an infirm one among their tribes.
Egypt was joyful at their departure, for the fear of them lay heavy upon them.
He spread a cloud for their protection, and a fire, to give them light through the night.
They petitioned, and the quail came; and he satisfied them with the bread of heaven.
He ruptured the rock and the waters flowed: rivers gushed in the dry land.
For he had called to mind his holy word, which he kept near to his servant Abraham.
And he led forth his people in exultation, and his elect in rejoicing.
And he gave them the regions of the Gentiles, and they possessed the labors of the peoples,
so that they might observe his justifications, and inquire about his law.
