1 And after this he said: “Cut out for yourself two tablets of stone similar to the first ones, and I will write upon them the words which were held on the tablets that you broke.	1 Yahvé dit à Moïse: "Taille deux tables de pierre semblables aux premières, monte vers moi sur lamontagne, et j'écrirai sur les tables les paroles qui étaient sur les premières tables que tu as brisées.
2 Be prepared in the morning, so that you may immediately ascend onto Mount Sinai, and you shall stand with me on the summit of the mountain.	2 Sois prêt au matin, monte dès le matin sur le mont Sinaï et attends-moi là, au sommet de lamontagne.
3 Let no one ascend with you, and do not let anyone be seen throughout the entire mountain. Likewise, do not let the oxen or the sheep pasture up against it.”	3 Que personne ne monte avec toi; que personne même ne paraisse sur toute la montagne. Que mêmele bétail, petit et gros, ne paisse pas devant cette montagne."
4 And so he cut out two tablets of stone, like those that were before. And rising up in the night, he ascended onto Mount Sinai, just as the Lord had instructed him, carrying with him the tablets.	4 Il tailla donc deux tables de pierre, semblables aux premières, et, s'étant levé de bon matin, Moïsemonta sur le mont Sinaï, comme Yahvé le lui avait ordonné, et il prit dans sa main les deux tables de pierre.
5 And when the Lord had descended in a cloud, Moses stood with him, calling upon the name of the Lord.	5 Yahvé descendit dans une nuée et il se tint là avec lui. Il invoqua le nom de Yahvé.
6 And as he was crossing before him, he said: “The Ruler, the Lord God, merciful and lenient, patient and full of compassion and also truthful,	6 Yahvé passa devant lui et il cria: "Yahvé, Yahvé, Dieu de tendresse et de pitié, lent à la colère, richeen grâce et en fidélité;
7 who preserves mercy a thousand fold, who takes away iniquity, and wickedness, and also sin; and with you no one, in and of himself, is innocent. You render the iniquity of the fathers to the sons, and also to their descendents to the third and fourth generation.”	7 qui garde sa grâce à des milliers, tolère faute, transgression et péché mais ne laisse rien impuni etchâtie les fautes des pères sur les enfants et les petits-enfants, jusqu'à la troisième et la quatrième génération."
8 And hurrying, Moses bowed down prostrate to the ground; and worshiping,	8 Aussitôt Moïse tomba à genoux sur le sol et se prosterna,
9 he said: “If I have found grace in your sight, O Lord, I beg you to walk with us, (for the people are stiff-necked) and take away our iniquities and our sin, and so possess us.”	9 puis il dit: "Si vraiment, Seigneur, j'ai trouvé grâce à tes yeux, que mon Seigneur veuille bien allerau milieu de nous, bien que ce soit un peuple à la nuque raide, pardonne nos fautes et nos péchés et fais de nouston héritage."
10 The Lord responded: “I will enter into a pact in the sight of all. I will perform signs which have never been seen on earth, nor among any nation, so that this people, in whose midst you are, may discern the terrible work of the Lord that I will do.	10 Il dit: "Voici que je vais conclure une alliance: devant tout ton peuple je ferai des merveilles tellesqu'il n'en a été accompli dans aucun pays ni aucune nation. Le peuple au milieu duquel tu te trouves verral'oeuvre de Yahvé, car c'est chose redoutable, ce que je vais faire avec toi.
11 Observe everything that I command you this day. I myself will drive out before your face the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite.	11 Observe donc ce que je te commande aujourd'hui. Je vais chasser devant toi les Amorites, lesCananéens, les Hittites, les Perizzites, les Hivvites et les Jébuséens.
12 Beware that you do not ever join in friendship with the inhabitants of that land, which may be your ruin.	12 Garde-toi de faire alliance avec les habitants du pays où tu vas entrer, de peur qu'ils ne constituentun piège au milieu de toi.
13 But destroy their altars, break their statues, and cut down their sacred groves.	13 Vous démolirez leurs autels, vous mettrez leurs stèles en pièces et vous couperez leurs pieuxsacrés.
14 Do not be willing to worship any strange god. The jealous Lord is his name. God is a rival.	14 Tu ne te prosterneras pas devant un autre dieu, car Yahvé a pour nom Jaloux: c'est un Dieu jaloux.
15 Do not enter into a pact with the men of those regions, lest, when they will have fornicated with their gods and worshiped their idols, someone might call upon you to eat from what was immolated.	15 Ne fais pas alliance avec les habitants du pays, car lorsqu'ils se prostituent à leurs dieux et leuroffrent des sacrifices, ils t'inviteraient et tu mangerais de leur sacrifice,
16 Neither shall you take a wife for your son from their daughters, lest, after they themselves have fornicated, they may cause your sons also to fornicate with their gods.	16 tu prendrais de leurs filles pour tes fils, leurs filles se prostitueraient à leurs dieux et feraient seprostituer tes fils à leurs dieux.
17 You shall not make for yourselves any molten gods.	17 Tu ne te feras pas de dieu de métal fondu.
18 You shall keep the solemnity of unleavened bread. For seven days, you shall eat unleavened bread, just as I instructed you, in the time of the month of what is new. For in the month of springtime you departed from Egypt.	18 Tu observeras la fête des Azymes. Pendant sept jours tu mangeras des azymes, comme je te l'aiordonné, au temps fixé du mois d'Abib, car c'est au mois d'Abib que tu es sorti d'Egypte.
19 All of the male kind, which open the womb, shall be mine: from all the animals, as much of oxen as of sheep, it shall be mine.	19 Tout être sorti le premier du sein maternel est à moi: tout mâle, tout premier-né de ton petit ou deton gros bétail.
20 The firstborn of a donkey, you shall redeem with a sheep. But if you will not give a price for it, it shall be slain. The firstborn of your sons you shall redeem. You shall not appear empty in my sight.	20 Les premiers ânons mis bas tu les rachèteras par une tête de petit bétail et si tu ne les rachètes pas,tu leur briseras la nuque. Tous les premiers-nés de tes fils, tu les rachèteras, et l'on ne se présentera pas devantmoi les mains vides.
21 For six days you shall work. On the seventh day you shall cease to cultivate and to harvest.	21 Pendant six jours tu travailleras, mais le septième jour, tu chômeras, que ce soient les labours ou lamoisson, tu chômeras.
22 You shall observe the Solemnity of Weeks with the first-fruits of the grain from the harvest of your wheat, and a Solemnity when the time of the year returns and everything is stored away.	22 Tu célébreras la fête des Semaines, prémices de la moisson des blés, et la fête de la récolte auretour de l'année.
23 Three times a year, all your males shall appear in the sight of the Almighty, the Lord God of Israel.	23 Trois fois l'an, toute ta population mâle se présentera devant le Seigneur Yahvé, Dieu d'Israël.
24 For when I will have taken away the nations before your face, and enlarged your borders, no one shall lie in wait against your land when you will go up to appear in the sight of the Lord your God, three times a year.	24 Je déposséderai les nations devant toi et j'élargirai tes frontières, et nul ne convoitera ta terre quandtu monteras te présenter devant Yahvé ton Dieu, trois fois l'an.
25 You shall not immolate the blood of my victim over leaven; and there shall not remain, in the morning, any of the victim of the Solemnity of the Passover.	25 Tu n'offriras pas avec du pain levé le sang de ma victime, et la victime de la fête de Pâque ne serapas gardée jusqu'au lendemain.
26 The first of the fruits of your land you shall offer in the house of the Lord your God. You shall not boil a young goat in the milk of its mother.”	26 Le meilleur des prémices de ton terroir, tu l'apporteras à la maison de Yahvé ton Dieu et tu ne feraspas cuire un chevreau dans le lait de sa mère."
27 And the Lord said to Moses, “Write these words to you, through which I have formed a covenant, both with you and with Israel.”	27 Yahvé dit à Moïse: "Mets par écrit ces paroles car selon ces clauses, j'ai conclu mon alliance avectoi et avec Israël."
28 Therefore, he was in that place with the Lord for forty days and forty nights; he did not eat bread and he did not drink water, and he wrote on the tablets the ten words of the covenant.	28 Moïse demeura là, avec Yahvé, 40 jours et 40 nuits. Il ne mangea ni ne but, et il écrivit sur lestables les paroles de l'alliance, les dix paroles.
29 And when Moses descended from Mount Sinai, he held the two tablets of the testimony, and he did not know that his face was radiant from the sharing of words with the Lord.	29 Lorsque Moïse redescendit de la montagne du Sinaï, les deux tables du Témoignage étaient dans lamain de Moïse quand il descendit de la montagne, et Moïse ne savait pas que la peau de son visage rayonnaitparce qu'il avait parlé avec lui.
30 Then Aaron and the sons of Israel, seeing that the face of Moses was radiant, were afraid to approach close by.	30 Aaron et tous les Israélites virent Moïse, et voici que la peau de son visage rayonnait, et ils avaientpeur de l'approcher.
31 And being called by him, they turned back, both Aaron and the leaders of the assembly. And after he had spoken to them,	31 Moïse les appela; Aaron et tous les chefs de la communauté revinrent alors vers lui, et Moïse leurparla.
32 all the sons of Israel also now came to him. And he instructed them in all the things that he had heard from the Lord on Mount Sinai.	32 Ensuite tous les Israélites s'approchèrent, et il leur ordonna tout ce dont Yahvé avait parlé sur lemont Sinaï.
33 And having completed these words, he placed a veil over his face.	33 Quand Moïse eut fini de leur parler, il mit un voile sur son visage.
34 But when he entered to the Lord and was speaking with him, he took it off, until he exited. And then he spoke to the sons of Israel all that had been commanded to him.	34 Lorsque Moïse entrait devant Yahvé pour parler avec lui, il ôtait le voile jusqu'à sa sortie. Ensortant, il disait aux Israélites ce qui lui avait été ordonné,
35 And they saw that the face of Moses, when he came out, was radiant, but he covered his face again, whenever he spoke to them.	35 et les Israélites voyaient le visage de Moïse rayonner. Puis Moïse remettait le voile sur son visage,jusqu'à ce qu'il entrât pour parler avec lui.
