1 Then David, being old and full of days, appointed his son Solomon as king over Israel.	1 Viejo ya David y colmado de días, proclamó a su hijo Salomón rey de Israel.
2 And he gathered together all the leaders of Israel, with the priests as well as the Levites.	2 Reunió a todos los jefes de Israel, a los sacerdotes y a los levitas,
3 And the Levites were numbered from the age of thirty years and upward. And there were found thirty-eight thousand men.	3 y se hizo el censo de los levitas de treinta años para arriba; su número, contado por cabezas uno a uno, fue de 38.000 varones.
4 Of these, twenty-four thousand were chosen and distributed to the ministry of the house of the Lord. Then six thousand were overseers and judges.	4 De éstos, 24.000 estaban al frente del servicio de la Casa de Yahveh; 6.000 eran escribas y jueces,
5 Moreover, four thousand were porters. And the same number were the singers of psalms to the Lord, with the musical instruments which he had made for the music.	5 4.000 eran porteros y 4.000 alababan a Yahveh con los instrumentos que David había fabricado para rendir alabanzas.
6 And David distributed them into courses according to the sons of Levi, specifically, Gershom, and Kohath, and Merari.	6 David los distribuyó por clases, según los hijos de Leví: Guersón, Quehat y Merarí.
7 The sons of Gershom: Ladan and Shimei.	7 De los guersonitas: Ladán y Simí.
8 The sons of Ladan: the leader Jahiel, and Zetham, and Joel, three.	8 Hijos de Ladán: Yejiel, el primero, Zetam y Joel, tres.
9 The sons of Shimei: Shelomoth, and Haziel, and Haran, three. These were the leaders of the families of Ladan.	9 Hijos de Simí: Selomit, Jaziel y Harán, tres. Estos son los jefes de las casas paternas de Ladán.
10 Then the sons of Shimei: Jahath, and Zizah, and Jeush, and Beriah. These were the sons of Shimei, four.	10 Hijos de Simí: Yájat, Zizá, Yeús y Beriá. Estos eran los cuatro hijos de Simí.
11 Now Jahath was first, Zizah second, but Jeush and Beriah did not have many sons, and for this reason they were reckoned as one family and one house.	11 Yájat era el jefe, Zizá, el segundo, Yeús y Beriá no tuvieron muchos hijos, por lo cual representaron en el censo una sola casa paterna.
12 The sons of Kohath: Amram and Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel, four.	12 Hijos de Quehat: Amram, Yishar, Hebrón y Uzziel, cuatro.
13 The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses. Now Aaron was separated so that he might minister in the Holy of Holies, he and his sons forever, and so that he might burn incense to the Lord, according to his rite, and so that he might bless his name in perpetuity.	13 Hijos de Amram: Aarón y Moisés. Aarón fue separado, juntamente con sus hijos, para consagrar por siempre las cosas sacratísimas, para quemar incienso ante Yahveh, para servirle y para bendecir en su nombre por siempre.
14 The sons of Moses, the man of God, were also numbered in the tribe of Levi.	14 En cuanto a Moisés, varón de Dios, sus hijos fueron contados en la tribu de Leví.
15 The sons of Moses: Gershom and Eliezer.	15 Hijos de Moisés: Guersom y Eliezer.
16 The sons of Gershom: Shebuel the first.	16 Hijos de Guersom: Sebuel, el primero.
17 Now the sons of Eliezer were Rehabiah the first. And there were no other sons for Eliezer. But the sons of Rehabiah were multiplied exceedingly.	17 Hijos de Eliezer: Rejabías, el primero. Eliezer no tuvo más hijos, pero los hijos de Rejabías fueron muy numerosos.
18 The sons of Izhar: Shelomith the first.	18 Hijos de Yishar: Selomit, el primero,
19 The sons of Hebron: Jeriah the first, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, Jekameam the fourth.	19 Hijos de Hebrón: Yeriyyías, el primero, Amarías, el segundo, Yajaziel, el tercero y Yecamam, el cuarto.
20 The sons of Uzziel: Micah the first, Isshiah the second.	20 Hijos de Uzziel: Miká, el primero y Yissías el segundo.
21 The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli: Eleazar and Kish.	21 Hijos de Merarí: Majlí y Musí. Hijos de Majlí: Eleazar y Quis.
22 Then Eleazar died, and had no sons, but only daughters. And so the sons of Kish, their brothers, married them.	22 Eleazar murió sin tener hijos; sólo tuvo hijas, a las que los hijos de Quis, sus hermanos, tomaron por mujeres.
23 The sons of Mushi: Mahli, and Eder, and Jeremoth, three.	23 Hijos de Musí: Majlí, Eder y Yeremot, tres.
24 These are the sons of Levi, in their kindred and families, leaders in turns, and the number of each of the heads who were doing the works of the ministry of the house of the Lord, from twenty years of age and upward.	24 Estos son los hijos de Leví, según sus casas paternas, los cabezas de familia, según el censo de ellos, contados nominalmente uno por uno. Estaban encargados del servicio de la Casa de Yahveh desde la edad de veinte años en adelante.
25 For David said: “The Lord, the God of Israel, has given rest to his people, and a habitation in Jerusalem even unto eternity.	25 Pues David había dicho: «Yahveh, el Dios de Israel, ha dado reposo a su pueblo y mora en Jerusalén para siempre.
26 Neither shall it be the office of the Levites any more to carry the tabernacle with all its equipment for use in the ministry.”	26 Y en cuanto a los levitas, ya no tendrán que transportar la Morada, con todos los utensilios de su servicio».
27 Also, according to the last precepts of David, the sons of Levi shall be counted by number from twenty years of age and upward.	27 Conforme a estas últimas disposiciones de David, se hizo el cómputo de los hijos de Leví de veinte años para arriba.
28 And they shall be under the hand of the sons of Aaron, in the care of the house of the Lord, in the vestibule, and in the chambers, and in the place of purification, and in the sanctuary, and in all the works of the ministry of the temple of the Lord.	28 Estaban a las órdenes de los hijos de Aarón, para el servicio de la Casa de Yahveh, teniendo a su cargo los atrios y las cámaras, la limpieza de todas las cosas sagradas y la obra del servicio de la Casa de Dios;
29 But the priests shall be over the bread of the presence, and the sacrifice of fine wheat flour, and the unleavened cakes, and the frying pan, and the roasting, and over every weight and measure.	29 asimismo tenían a su cargo disponer en filas los panes, la flor de harina para la oblación, las tortas sin levadura, lo frito en la sartén, lo cocido y toda clase de medidas de capacidad y longitud.
30 Yet truly, the Levites shall stand to confess and to sing to the Lord, in the morning, and similarly in the evening,	30 «Tenían que estar presentes todas las mañanas y todas las tardes para celebrar y alabar a Yahveh
31 as much in the oblation of the holocausts of the Lord, as in the Sabbaths and new moons and other solemnities, according to the number and ceremonies for each and every matter, perpetually before the Lord.	31 y para ofrecer todos los holocaustos a Yahveh en los sábados, novilunios y solemnidades, según su número y su rito especial, delante de Yahveh para siempre,
32 And let them keep the observances of the tabernacle of the covenant, and the rituals of the sanctuary, and the observance of the sons of Aaron, their brothers, so that they may minister in the house of the Lord.	32 guardando en el servicio de la Casa de Dios el ritual de la Tienda del Encuentro, el ritual del santuario y el ritual de los hijos de Aarón, sus hermanos.
