1 And after these things, in that time, there was a vineyard of Naboth, the Jezreelite, who was in Jezreel, beside the palace of Ahab, the king of Samaria.	1 - Dopo questi fatti Nabot di Jezrael, aveva in quel tempo una vigna, la quale si trovava in Jezrael, accanto al palazzo di Acab, re di Samaria.
2 Therefore, Ahab spoke to Naboth, saying: “Give your vineyard to me, so that I may make for myself a garden of herbs. For it is nearby and is beside my house. And I will give to you, in place of it, a better vineyard. Or if you consider it to be more convenient for you, I will give you the price in silver, whatever it is worth.”	2 Acab parlò così a Nabot: «Dammi la tua vigna per farne un orto da erbaggi, poichè è vicina alla mia casa; in cambio ti darò una vigna migliore, oppure, se preferisci, te la pagherò con giusto prezzo d'argento».
3 Naboth responded to him, “May the Lord be gracious to me, lest I give to you the inheritance of my fathers.”	3 Ma Nabot gli rispose: «Mi guardi il Signore dal dare a te l'eredità dei miei padri».
4 Then Ahab went into his house, angry and gnashing his teeth over the word that Naboth, the Jezreelite, had spoken to him, saying, “I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers.” And casting himself on his bed, he turned away his face to the wall, and he would not eat bread.	4 Acab venne perciò in casa indignato e irritato per la risposta avuta da Nabot Jezraelita, il quale aveva detto: «Non ti darò la eredità di mio padre». E gettatosi su un letto, volse la sua faccia alla parete e non volle prender cibo.
5 Then Jezebel, his wife, entered to him, and she said to him: “What is this matter, by which your soul has been saddened? And why do you not eat bread?”	5 Jezabel sua moglie venne da lui e gli disse: «Perchè ciò? Perchè la tua anima è contristata? Perchè non mangi?».
6 And he responded to her: “I spoke to Naboth, the Jezreelite, and I said to him: ‘Give your vineyard to me, and accept money. Or if it pleases you, I will give to you a better vineyard, in place of it.’ And he said, ‘I will not give my vineyard to you.’ ”	6 Egli le rispose: «Ho parlato con Nabot Jezraelita e gli ho detto: - Dammi la tua vigna a prezzo di denaro, oppure, se preferisci, ti darò in cambio una vigna migliore -; ma egli rispose: - Non ti darò la mia vigna -».
7 Then Jezebel, his wife, said to him: “You are of great authority, and you rule well in the kingdom of Israel. Rise up and eat bread, and be even-tempered. I will give the vineyard of Naboth, the Jezreelite, to you.”	7 Allora Jezabel sua moglie gli disse: «Hai davvero una grande autorità e reggi bene il regno d'Israele! Levati però e mangia e sta' di buon animo; io ti darò la vigna di Nabot Jezraelita».
8 And so, she wrote letters in the name of Ahab, and she sealed these with his ring. And she sent to those greater by birth, and to the nobles who were in his city and living with Naboth.	8 Scritta quindi una lettera in nome di Acab e sigillatala col suggello di lui, la mandò agli anziani e agli ottimati, che erano nella città e abitavano con Nabot.
9 And this was the judgment of the letters: “Proclaim a fast, and cause Naboth to sit among the first rulers of the people.	9 La lettera era di questo tenore: «Pubblicate un digiuno e fatto sedere Nabot tra i principali del popolo,
10 And send out two men, sons of Belial, against him. And let them speak the false testimony: ‘He has blasphemed God and king.’ And then lead him away, and stone him, and so let him die.”	10 subornate due uomini figli di Belial, i quali contro di lui testifichino il falso, dicendo: - Ha bestemmiato Dio e il re -; e poi conducetelo fuori e lapidatelo e così muoia!».
11 Then his fellow citizens, those greater by birth and the nobles who were living with him in the city, did just as Jezebel had instructed them, and just as it was written in the letters that she had sent to them.	11 I suoi concittadini, gli anziani e i notabili che abitavano con lui in quella città, fecero quanto aveva comandato di fare Jezabel e come stava scritto nella lettera, ch'essa aveva inviata a loro.
12 They proclaimed a fast, and they caused Naboth to sit among the first rulers of the people.	12 Intimarono un digiuno e fecero sedere Nabot tra i principali del popolo:
13 And bringing forward two men, sons of the devil, they caused them to sit opposite him. And they, acting indeed like diabolical men, spoke testimony against him before the multitude: “Naboth has blasphemed God and king.” For this reason, they led him away, beyond the city, and they put him to death by stoning.	13 poi fatti venire due uomini malvagi li fecero sedere contro di lui: e costoro da veri uomini perversi diedero, al cospetto della moltitudine, questa testimonianza: «Nabot ha bestemmiato Dio e il re». Perciò lo condussero fuori della città e lo uccisero lapidandolo.
14 And they sent to Jezebel, saying, “Naboth has been stoned, and he has died.”	14 Poi mandarono a dire a Jezabel: «Nabot è stato lapidato ed è morto».
15 Then it happened that, when Jezebel had heard that Naboth was stoned and was dead, she said to Ahab: “Rise up and take possession of the vineyard of Naboth, the Jezreelite, who was not willing to acquiesce to you, and to give it to you in exchange for money. For Naboth is not alive, but dead.”	15 Quando Jezabel seppe che Nabot era stato lapidato ed era morto, disse ad Acab: «Levati e prendi possesso della vigna di Nabot Jezraelita, che si rifiutò di fare a modo tuo e di dartela dietro compenso in denaro; poichè Nabot non vive più, ma è morto».
16 And when Ahab had heard this, namely, that Naboth was dead, he rose up and descended to the vineyard of Naboth, the Jezreelite, so that he might take possession of it.	16 Acab avendo udito una tal cosa, che cioè Nabot era morto, si levò e discese verso la vigna di Nabot per prenderne possesso.
17 Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah, the Tishbite, saying:	17 Frattanto la voce del Signore parlò ad Elia il Tesbite in questi termini:
18 “Rise up, and descend to meet Ahab, the king of Israel, who is in Samaria. Behold, he is descending to the vineyard of Naboth, so that he may take possession of it.	18 «Levati e scendi incontro ad Acab, re d'Israele, che è in Samaria; eccolo, egli discende nella vigna di Nabot per prenderne possesso.
19 And you shall speak to him, saying: ‘Thus says the Lord: You have killed. Moreover you have also taken possession.’ And after this, you shall add: ‘Thus says the Lord: In this place, where the dogs have licked the blood of Naboth, they shall also lick your blood.’ ”	19 Tu gli dirai: - Così parla il Signore: " Hai ucciso e di più ti sei impossessato ". - E poi aggiungerai: - Così dice il Signore: " Nel luogo stesso ove i cani hanno leccato il sangue di Nabot, i cani leccheranno anche il tuo sangue "- ».
20 And Ahab said to Elijah, “Have you discovered me to be your enemy?” And he said: “I have discovered you to have been sold, so that you would do evil in the sight of the Lord:	20 Rispose Acab ad Elia: «Mi hai tu dunque trovato tuo nemico?». Elia disse: «Sì, ti ho trovato [tale], poichè ti sei venduto per fare il male al cospetto del Signore;
21 ‘Behold, I will lead evil over you. And I will cut down your posterity. And I will put to death of Ahab whatever urinates against a wall, and whatever is lame, and whatever is last in Israel.	21 perciò io farò venire sopra di te la sventura, io mieterò la tua posterità e sterminerò dalla casa di Acab chiunque orina contro al muro, chi è rinchiuso e chi è ultimo in Israele;
22 And I will cause your house to be like the house of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha, the son of Ahijah. For you have acted so that you provoked me to anger, and so that you caused Israel to sin.’	22 e ridurrò la tua casa come la casa di Geroboamo figlio di Nabat e come la casa di Baasa figlio di Aia, perchè tu hai agito in modo da provocarmi alla collera e hai fatto peccare Israele».
23 And about Jezebel also, the Lord spoke, saying: ‘The dogs shall consume Jezebel in the field of Jezreel.	23 Anche contro Jezabel parlò il Signore, dicendo: «I cani mangeranno Jezabel nel campo di Jezrael.
24 If Ahab will have died in the city, the dogs will consume him. But if he will have died in the field, the birds of the air will consume him.’ ”	24 Se Acab morirà nella città lo mangeranno i cani; se morirà nella campagna lo divoreranno gli uccelli del cielo».
25 And so, there was no other person similar to Ahab, who was sold so that he did evil in the sight of the Lord. For his wife, Jezebel, urged him on.	25 Non vi fu adunque altra persona, che come Acab siasi venduta per fare il male al cospetto del Signore, e fu sua moglie Jezabel che lo spinse a ciò.
26 And he became abominable, so much so that he followed the idols that the Amorites had made, whom the Lord consumed before the face of the sons of Israel.	26 Divenne abominevole tanto da seguire gli idoli fatti dagli Amorrei, che il Signore aveva sterminato dalla faccia dei figli d'Israele.
27 Then, when Ahab had heard these words, he tore his garments, and he put haircloth on his body, and he fasted, and he slept in sackcloth, and he walked with his head downcast.	27 Acab avendo udito tali parole si stracciò le vesti, si coprì la carne col cilicio, digiunò e dormì con un sacco e se ne andava a testa bassa.
28 And the word of the Lord came to Elijah, the Tishbite, saying:	28 Perciò la parola del Signore si rivolse a Elia Tesbite in questo modo:
29 “Have you not seen how Ahab has humbled himself before me? Therefore, since he has humbled himself because of me, I will not lead in the evil during his days. Instead, during the days of his son, I will bring in the evil to his house.”	29 «Hai tu visto Acab umiliato dinanzi a me? Poichè si umiliò davanti a me, io non farò venire la sventura durante la vita di lui; ma durante quella del figliuol suo, manderò la sventura sulla sua casa».
