1 Now after these things, it happened that David struck the Philistines, and he humbled them. And David took the bridle of tribute from the hand of the Philistines.	1 - Dopo queste cose Davide sconfisse i Filistei e li umiliò e prese dalle mani dei Filistei il comando della fortezza.
2 And he struck Moab, and he measured them with a line, leveling them to the ground. Now he measured with two lines, one to kill, and one to keep alive. And Moab was made to serve David under tribute.	2 Sconfisse pure i Moabiti e distesili per terra, li misurò con una corda e ne misurò due parti, una di quelli che dovevano essere uccisi e l'altra di quelli che dovevano conservarsi in vita. E Moab divenne tributario di Davide.
3 And David struck Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, the king of Zobah, when he set out to rule over the river Euphrates.	3 Davide sconfisse anche Adarezer figlio di Roob re di Soba, allorchè questi partì per dominare sul fiume Eufrate.
4 And from his troops, David seized one thousand seven hundred horsemen and twenty thousand foot soldiers. And he cut the sinew of the leg in all the chariot horses. But he left aside enough of them for one hundred chariots.	4 Davide gli prese millesettecento cavalieri e ventimila pedoni, tagliò i garretti a tutti i cavalli da tiro e si riservò [dei cavalli] per cento carri.
5 And the Syrians of Damascus arrived, so that they might bring reinforcements to Hadadezer, the king of Zobah. And David struck down twenty-two thousand men of the Syrians.	5 Anche la Siria di Damasco era venuta in aiuto di Adarezer re di Soba, e Davide sconfisse ventiduemila Siri,
6 And David positioned a garrison in Syria of Damascus. And Syria served David under tribute. And the Lord assisted David in all things whatsoever that he set out to accomplish.	6 e posto nella Siria di Damasco un presidio, si assoggettò la Siria e la sottopose ad un tributo. Il Signore poi conservò Davide in tutti i luoghi dove era andato.
7 And David took the armbands of gold, which the servants of Hadadezer had, and he brought them to Jerusalem.	7 Davide prese le armi d'oro che avevano i servi di Adarezer le portò a Gerusalemme.
8 And from Betah and Beeroth, cities of Hadadezer, king David took an exceedingly great amount of brass.	8 Parimenti, da Bete e da Berot, città di Adarezer, Davide portò via gran quantità di rame.
9 Then Toi, the king of Hamath, heard that David had struck down the entire strength of Hadadezer.	9 Avendo Tou re di Emat udito che Davide aveva disfatto tutto l'esercito di Adarezer,
10 And so, Toi sent his son Joram to king David, so that he might greet him with congratulations, and give thanks, because he had fought against Hadadezer and had struck him down. For indeed, Toi was the enemy of Hadadezer. And in his hand were vessels of gold, and vessels of silver, and vessels of brass.	10 inviò al re Davide il figliuolo suo Joram per salutarlo, per congratularsi con lui e per ringraziarlo d'aver sconfitto Adarezer e di averlo battuto, perchè Tou era nemico di Adarezer. Joram aveva portato seco vasi di oro, d'argento e di rame
11 And king David also sanctified these things to the Lord, with the silver and gold that he had sanctified from all the peoples whom he had subdued:	11 e anche questi furono dal re Davide consacrati al Signore, come già aveva consacrato l'argento e l'oro preso alle nazioni da lui soggiogate,
12 from Syria, and Moab, and the sons Ammon, and the Philistines, and Amalek, and from the best spoils of Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, the king of Zobah.	12 cioè alla Siria, a Moab, ai figli di Ammon, ai Filistei, agli Amaleciti e al bottino di Adarezer figlio di Roob re di Soba.
13 David also made a name for himself when he returned from seizing Syria, in the Valley of the Salt Pits, having cut down eighteen thousand.	13 Davide acquistò pure molta celebrità quando, di ritorno dall'aver soggiogata la Siria, sconfisse nella valle delle Saline, diciottomila uomini.
14 And he positioned guards in Edom, and he stationed a garrison. And all of Edom was made to serve David. And the Lord assisted David in all things whatsoever that he set out to accomplish.	14 Anche nella Idumea collocò guarnigioni e stabilì un presidio e tutta l'Idumea fu soggetta a Davide. Il Signore poi protesse Davide in tutti i luoghi dove andò.
15 And David reigned over all of Israel. And David accomplished judgment and justice with all his people.	15 Davide regnò sopra tutto Israele e rendeva ragione e giustizia a tutto il suo popolo.
16 Now Joab, the son Zeruiah, was over the army. And Jehoshaphat, the son of Ahilud, was the keeper of records.	16 Joab figliuolo di Sarvia comandava all'esercito; Josafat figlio di Ailud faceva da istoriografo,
17 And Zadok, the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech, the son of Abiathar, were the priests. And Seraiah was the scribe.	17 Sadoc figlio di Achitob e Achimelec figlio di Abiatar erano sacerdoti, Saraia era lo scriba,
18 And Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, was over the Cherethites and Pelethites. But the sons of David were priests.	18 Banaia figlio di Joiada era capo dei Ceretei e dei Feletei, mentre i figli di Davide fungevano da Ministri.
