1 Then Ishbosheth, the son of Saul, heard that Abner had fallen in Hebron. And his hands were weakened, and all of Israel was troubled.	1 Le fils de Saül apprit qu’Abner était mort à Hébron; les bras lui en tombèrent et tout Israël trembla.
2 Now the son of Saul had two men, leaders among robbers. The name of the one was Baanah, and the name of the other was Rechab, sons of Rimmon, a Beerothite from the sons of Benjamin. For indeed, Beeroth, too, was reputed with Benjamin.	2 Le fils de Saül avait deux chefs de bande, deux fils de Rimmon de Béérot: l’un s’appelait Baana et le second s’appelait Rékab. (Ils étaient de la tribu de Benjamin, car Béérot fait partie du territoire de Benjamin.
3 And the Beerothites had fled into Gittaim. And they were strangers there, until that time.	3 Les gens de Béérot s’étaient réfugiés à Gittayim et ils étaient restés là jusqu’à ce jour.)
4 Now Jonathan, the son of Saul, had a son with disabled feet. For he was five years old when the report about Saul and Jonathan arrived from Jezreel. And so, his nurse, taking him up, fled. And while she was hurrying, so that she might flee, he fell and was made lame. And he was called Mephibosheth.	4 Il y avait là un fils de Jonathan, fils de Saül, qui était infirme des deux pieds. Lorsque la nouvelle de la mort de Saül et de Jonathan arriva à Yizréel, il n’avait que cinq ans. 5 And so, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, arrived and entered the house of Ishbosheth, in the heat of the day. And he was sleeping on his bed at midday. And the doorkeeper of the house, who was cleaning the wheat, fell fast asleep.	5 Les fils de Rimmon de Béérot, Rékab et Baana, partirent pour la maison d’Ichbaal: ils arrivèrent au plus chaud du jour tandis que celui-ci faisait la sieste.
6 Then they entered the house secretly, taking the ears of grain. And Rechab and his brother Baanah stabbed him in the groin, and they fled away.	6 La femme qui gardait la porte s’était assoupie et endormie tandis qu’elle triait son blé. Rékab et son frère Baana entrèrent discrètement,
7 For when they had entered the house, he was sleeping on his bed in a closed room. And striking him, they killed him. And taking his head, they departed by the way of the desert, walking throughout the night.	7 ils pénétrèrent dans la maison et trouvèrent Ichbaal étendu sur son lit dans la chambre à coucher. Ils le frappèrent et lui coupèrent la tête, puis toute la nuit ils marchèrent par la route de la Araba, emportant sa tête.
8 And they brought the head of Ishbosheth to David in Hebron. And they said to the king: “Behold, the head of Ishbosheth, the son of Saul, your enemy, who was seeking your life. And so, the Lord has avenged my lord the king, this day, from Saul and from his offspring.”	8 Ils apportèrent la tête d’Ichbaal à David, à Hébron, et ils dirent au roi: “Voici la tête d’Ichbaal, le fils de ton ennemi Saül qui en voulait à ta vie. Aujourd’hui Yahvé a vengé mon seigneur le roi, de Saül et de sa race.”
9 But David, responding to Rechab and his brother Baanah, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, said to them: “As the Lord lives who has rescued my soul from all distress,	9 Mais David répondit à Rékab et à son frère Baana, fils de Rimmon de Béérot: “Aussi vrai que Yahvé est vivant, lui qui m’a délivré de toutes mes détresses,
10 the one who reported to me and said, ‘Saul is dead,’ who was thinking that he announced good news, I apprehended. And at Ziklag I killed him who ought to have been given a reward for the news.	10 lorsqu’un homme est venu me trouver avec cette nouvelle: Saül est mort! il se croyait porteur d’une bonne nouvelle, mais je l’ai fait arrêter et tuer à Siklag, alors que j’aurais pu le récompenser pour cette bonne nouvelle.
11 How much more so now, when impious men have put to death an innocent man in his own house, upon his bed, shall I not require his blood from your hand, and take you away from the earth?”	11 À plus forte raison lorsque des malfaiteurs ont tué un homme droit dans sa maison tandis qu’il dormait; je vais vous faire payer le sang que vous avez versé, je vais vous balayer de la terre!”
12 And so, David commanded his servants, and they put them to death. And cutting off their hands and feet, they suspended them up over the pool in Hebron. But the head of Ishbosheth they took and buried in the sepulcher of Abner at Hebron.	12 David donna des ordres aux jeunes gens qui étaient présents et on les mit à mort. Ensuite on leur coupa les mains et les pieds et on les attacha au-dessus de la piscine d’Hébron. On prit alors la tête d’Ichbaal et on la déposa dans le tombeau d’Abner à Hébron.
