1 And when David had passed a little beyond the top of the mountain, Ziba, the servant of Mephibosheth, appeared to meet him, with two donkeys, which were burdened with two hundred loaves, and one hundred bunches of dried grapes, and one hundred masses of dried figs, and a skin of wine.	1 Lorsque David eut un peu dépassé le sommet, Ciba, le serviteur de Meribbaal, vint à sa rencontreavec une paire d'ânes bâtés qui portaient 200 pains, cent grappes de raisins secs, cent fruits de saison et une outrede vin.
2 And the king said to Ziba, “What do you intend to do with these things?” And Ziba responded: “The donkeys are for the household of the king, so that they may sit. And the loaves and dried figs are for your servants to eat. But the wine is for anyone to drink who may be faint in the desert.”	2 Le roi demanda à Ciba: "Que veux-tu faire de cela?" Et Ciba répondit: "Les ânes serviront demonture à la famille du roi, le pain et les fruits de nourriture pour les cadets, et le vin servira de breuvage pourqui sera fatigué dans le désert."
3 And the king said, “Where is the son of your lord?” And Ziba answered the king: “He remained in Jerusalem, saying, ‘Today, the house of Israel will restore the kingdom of my father to me.’ ”	3 Le roi demanda: "Où donc est le fils de ton maître?" Et Ciba dit au roi: "Voici qu'il est resté àJérusalem, car il s'est dit: Aujourd'hui la maison d'Israël me restituera le royaume de mon père."
4 And the king said to Ziba, “All the things which were for Mephibosheth are now yours.” And Ziba said, “I beg you that I may find grace before you, my lord the king.”	4 Le roi dit alors à Ciba: "Tout ce que possède Meribbaal est à toi." Ciba dit: "Je me prosterne!Puissé-je être digne de faveur à tes yeux, Monseigneur le roi!"
5 Then king David went as far as Bahurim. And behold, a man from the kindred of the house of Saul, named Shimei, the son of Gera, went out from there. And going out, he continued on, and he was cursing,	5 Comme David atteignit Bahurim, il en sortit un homme du même clan que la famille de Saül. Ils'appelait Shiméï, fils de Géra, et il sortait en proférant des malédictions.
6 and throwing stones against David and against all the servants of king David. And all the people and all the warriors were traveling to the right and to the left sides of the king.	6 Il lançait des pierres à David et à tous les officiers du roi David, et pourtant toute l'armée et tousles preux encadraient le roi à droite et à gauche.
7 And so, as he was cursing the king, Shimei said: “Go away, go away, you man of blood, and you man of Belial!	7 Voici ce que Shiméï disait en le maudissant: "Va-t'en, va-t'en, homme de sang, vaurien!
8 The Lord has repaid you for all the blood of the house of Saul. For you have usurped the kingdom in place of him. And so, the Lord has given the kingdom into the hand of Absalom, your son. And behold, your evils press close upon you, because you are a man of blood.”	8 Yahvé a fait retomber sur toi tout le sang de la maison de Saül, dont tu as usurpé la royauté; aussiYahvé a-t-il remis la royauté entre les mains de ton fils Absalom. Te voilà livré à ton malheur, parce que tu es unhomme de sang."
9 Then Abishai, the son of Zeruiah, said to the king: “Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? Let me go and cut off his head.”	9 Abishaï, fils de Ceruya, dit au roi: "Faut-il que ce chien crevé maudisse Monseigneur le roi?Laisse-moi traverser et lui trancher la tête."
10 And the king said: “What is it to me and to all of you, O sons of Zeruiah? Permit him, so that he may curse. For the Lord has commanded him to curse David. And who is the one who would dare to say, ‘Why has he done so?’ ”	10 Mais le roi répondit: "Qu'ai-je à faire avec vous, fils de Ceruya? S'il maudit et si Yahvé lui aordonné: Maudis David, qui donc pourrait lui dire: Pourquoi as-tu agi ainsi?"
11 And the king said to Abishai and to all his servants: “Behold, my son, who went forth from my loins, is seeking my life. How much more does a son of Benjamin do so now? Permit him, so that he may curse, in accord with the command of the Lord.	11 David dit à Abishaï et à tous ses officiers: "Voyez: le fils qui est sorti de mes entrailles en veut àma vie. A plus forte raison maintenant ce Benjaminite! Laissez-le maudire, si Yahvé le lui a commandé.
12 Perhaps the Lord may look with favor upon my affliction, and the Lord may repay me good, in place of the cursing of this day.”	12 Peut-être Yahvé considérera-t-il ma misère et me rendra-t-il le bien au lieu de sa malédictiond'aujourd'hui."
13 And so, David continued walking along the way, and his associates with him. But Shimei was advancing along the ridge of the mountain on the side opposite him, cursing and throwing stones at him, and scattering dirt.	13 David et ses hommes continuèrent leur route. Quant à Shiméï, il s'avançait au flanc de lamontagne, parallèlement à lui, et tout en marchant il proférait des malédictions, lançait des pierres et jetait de laterre.
14 And the king and the entire people with him, being weary, went and refreshed themselves there.	14 Le roi et tout le peuple qui l'accompagnait arrivèrent exténués à... et là, on reprit haleine.
15 But Absalom and all his people entered into Jerusalem. Moreover, Ahithophel was with him.	15 Absalom entra à Jérusalem avec tous les hommes d'Israël et Ahitophel se trouvait avec lui.
16 And when Hushai the Archite, David’s friend, had gone to Absalom, he said to him: “May you be well, O king! May you be well, O king!”	16 Lorsque Hushaï l'Arkite, familier de David, arriva auprès d'Absalom, Hushaï dit à Absalom:"Vive le roi! Vive le roi!"
17 And Absalom said to him: “Is this your kindness to your friend? Why did you not go with your friend?”	17 Et Absalom dit à Hushaï: "C'est toute l'affection que tu as pour ton ami? Pourquoi n'es-tu pasparti avec ton ami?"
18 And Hushai responded to Absalom: “By no means! For I will be his, whom the Lord has chosen. And I, and all this people, and all of Israel, will remain with him.	18 Hushaï répondit à Absalom: "Non, celui que Yahvé et ce peuple et tous les gens d'Israël ontchoisi, c'est à lui que je veux être et avec lui que je demeurerai!
19 But then too, I declare this: whom should I serve? Is it not the son of the king? Just as I have been subject to your father, so will I be subject to you also.”	19 En second lieu, qui vais-je servir? N'est-ce pas son fils? Comme j'ai servi ton père, ainsi je teservirai."
20 Then Absalom said to Ahithophel, “Present a counsel as to what we ought to do.”	20 Absalom dit à Ahitophel: "Consultez-vous: qu'allons-nous faire?"
21 And Ahithophel said to Absalom: “Enter to the concubines of your father, whom he left behind in order to care for the house. Thus, when all of Israel will hear that you disgraced your father, their hands may be strengthened with you.”	21 Ahitophel répondit à Absalom: "Approche-toi des concubines de ton père, qu'il a laissées pourgarder le palais: tout Israël apprendra que tu t'es rendu odieux à ton père et le courage de tous tes partisans ensera affermi."
22 Therefore, they spread a tent for Absalom on the rooftop. And he entered to the concubines of his father in the sight of all Israel.	22 On dressa donc pour Absalom une tente sur la terrasse et Absalom s'approcha des concubinesde son père aux yeux de tout Israël.
23 Now the counsel of Ahithophel, which he gave in those days, was treated as if one were consulting God. So was every counsel of Ahithophel, both when he was with David, and when he was with Absalom.	23 Le conseil que donnait Ahitophel en ce temps-là était comme un oracle qu'on aurait obtenu deDieu; tel était, tant pour David que pour Absalom, tout conseil d'Ahitophel.
