Joshua 4

NEW JERUSALEM	EINHEITSUBERSETZUNG BIBEL
1 When the whole nation had finished crossing the Jordan, Yahweh spoke to Joshua and said,	1 Als das ganze Volk den Jordan durchschritten hatte, sagte der Herr zu Josua:
2 'Choose twelve men from the people, one man from each tribe, and give them this order,	2 Wählt aus dem Volk zwölf Männer aus, aus jedem Stamm einen,
3 "Here, from mid-Jordan, from the place where the priests' feet were standing, take twelve stones; carrythem with you and set them down in the camp where you pass the night." '	3 und befehlt ihnen: Hebt hier, an der Stelle mitten im Jordan, wo die Priester fest und sicher standen, zwölf Steine auf, nehmt sie mit hinüber und legt sie an dem Ort nieder, an dem ihr die nächste Nacht verbringt.
4 Joshua cal ed the twelve men whom he had selected from the Israelites, one man from each tribe,	4 Da rief Josua die zwölf Männer, die er aus den Israeliten bestimmt hatte, aus jedem Stamm einen,
5 and Joshua said to them, 'Go on ahead of the ark of Yahweh your God into mid-Jordan, and each ofyou take one stone on his shoulder, corresponding to the number of the tribes of Israel,	5 und sagte zu ihnen: Geht vor der Lade des Herrn, eures Gottes, her bis zur Mitte des Jordan; dort soll jeder von euch einen Stein auf seine Schulter heben, so viele Steine, wie es Stämme der Israeliten gibt.
6 to make this a sign among you; and when, in the future, your children ask you, "What do these stonesmean for you?"	6 Sie sollen unter euch ein Zeichen sein. Wenn euch eure Söhne morgen fragen: Was bedeuten diese Steine für euch?,
7 you will then tell them, "The waters of the Jordan separated before the ark of the covenant of Yahweh;when it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the river separated. These stones are an everlasting reminder of thisto the Israelites."	7 dann antwortet ihnen: (Sie bedeuten,) dass die Fluten des Jordan vor der Bundeslade des Herrn wie abgeschnitten waren; als sie durch den Jordan zog, waren die Fluten des Jordan wie abgeschnitten. So sind diese Steine ein ewiges Erinnerungszeichen für die Israeliten.
8 The Israelites did as Joshua ordered; they took twelve stones from mid-Jordan corresponding to thenumber of the tribes of Israel, as Yahweh had told Joshua; they carried them over to the camp and set themdown there.	8 Die Israeliten taten, was Josua befohlen hatte, und nahmen zwölf Steine mitten aus dem Jordan, so viele, wie es Stämme der Israeliten gab, wie es der Herr dem Josua befohlen hatte. Sie nahmen sie mit hinüber zu ihrem Rastplatz und stellten sie dort auf.
9 Joshua then erected twelve stones in mid-Jordan, on the spot where the feet of the priests carrying theark of the covenant had stood; and they are stil there today.	9 Und in der Mitte des Jordan richtete Josua zwölf Steine auf, dort, wo die Priester gestanden hatten, die die Bundeslade trugen; sie stehen dort bis zum heutigen Tag.
10 The priests carrying the ark stood stil in mid-Jordan, until everything had been done that Yahweh hadordered Joshua to tel the people (in accordance with everything that Moses had ordered Joshua); and thepeople hurried across.	10 Die Priester aber, die die Lade trugen, blieben mitten im Jordan stehen, bis alles geschehen war, was der Herr durch Josua dem Volk befohlen hatte [ganz so, wie Mose dem Josua befohlen hatte], und das Volk beeilte sich und zog hinüber.
11 When the people had finished crossing, the ark of Yahweh then crossed, with the priests, to the headof the people.	11 Als das ganze Volk vollständig hinübergezogen war, zog auch die Lade des Herrn hinüber und die Priester (gingen wieder) dem Volk voraus.
12 The sons of Reuben, the sons of Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh crossed in battle formation at thehead of the Israelites, as Moses had told them.	12 Die Rubeniter, die Gaditer und der halbe Stamm Manasse zogen kampfbereit vor den Israeliten her, wie es ihnen Mose befohlen hatte.
13 Some forty thousand warriors in arms, they crossed in Yahweh's presence, ready for battle, towardsthe plain of Jericho.	13 Es waren etwa vierzigtausend bewaffnete Männer, die vor den Augen des Herrn zum Kampf in die Steppen von Jericho zogen.
14 That day, Yahweh made Joshua great in the eyes of all Israel, who respected him as they hadrespected Moses, as long as he lived.	14 An jenem Tag machte der Herr den Josua in den Augen ganz Israels groß und man hatte Ehrfurcht vor ihm, wie man vor Mose zeit seines Lebens Ehrfurcht hatte.
15 Yahweh said to Joshua,	15 Da sagte der Herr zu Josua:
16 'Order the priests carrying the ark of the Testimony to come up out of the Jordan.'	16 Befiehl den Priestern, die die Lade der Bundesurkunde tragen, aus dem Jordan heraufzusteigen.
17 And Joshua gave the order to the priests, 'Come up, out of the Jordan!'	17 Da befahl Josua den Priestern: Steigt aus dem Jordan herauf!
18 Now, when the priests carrying the ark of the covenant of Yahweh came up out of mid-Jordan, nosooner had the soles of the priests' feet touched solid ground, than the waters of the Jordan returned to their bedand ran on, in spate as before.	18 Als nun die Priester, die die Bundeslade des Herrn trugen, aus der Mitte des Jordan heraufstiegen und ihre Füße das Ufer berührten, da kehrte das Wasser des Jordan an seinen Ort zurück und trat wie zuvor wieder über alle Ufer.
19 It was the tenth day of the first month when the people came up from the Jordan and made their campat Gilgal, on the eastern border of Jericho.	19 Das Volk zog am zehnten Tag des ersten Monats durch den Jordan und schlug in Gilgal, am Ostrand des Gebietes von Jericho, sein Lager auf.
20 As regards those twelve stones, which they had taken from the Jordan, Joshua set them up at Gilgal.	20 In Gilgal stellte Josua die zwölf Steine auf, die man aus dem Jordan mitgenommen hatte.
21 He then said to the Israelites, 'When, in the future, your children ask their fathers, "What are thesestones?"	21 Er sagte zu den Israeliten: Wenn eure Söhne morgen ihre Väter fragen: Was bedeuten diese Steine?,
22 you wil explain to your children, "Israel crossed this Jordan dry-shod.	22 dann sollt ihr sie belehren: Hier hat Israel trockenen Fußes den Jordan durchschritten;
23 For Yahweh your God dried up the waters of the Jordan in front of you until you had crossed, just asYahweh your God did to the Sea of Reeds, which he dried up before us until we had crossed it;	23 denn der Herr, euer Gott, hat das Wasser des Jordan vor euren Augen austrocknen lassen, bis ihr hindurchgezogen wart, genau so wie es Jahwe, euer Gott, mit dem Schilfmeer machte, das er vor unseren Augen austrocknen ließ, bis wir hindurchgezogen waren.
24 so that al the peoples of the earth may know how mighty the hand of Yahweh is, and always stand inawe of Yahweh your God." '	24 Daran sollen alle Völker der Erde erkennen, dass die Hand des Herrn stark ist, und ihr sollt allezeit Jahwe, euren Gott, fürchten.
