1 The whole community of the Israelites assembled at Shiloh, and the Tent of Meeting was set up there;the whole country had been subdued for them.	1 Tutta la comunità degli Israeliti si radunò a Silo, e qui eresse la tenda del convegno. La terra era stata sottomessa a loro.
2 But among the Israelites there were still seven tribes left who had not received their heritage.	2 Rimanevano tra gli Israeliti sette tribù che non avevano avuto la loro parte.
3 Joshua then said to the Israelites, 'How much more time are you going to waste before you go andtake possession of the country which Yahweh, God of your ancestors, has given to you?	3 Disse allora Giosuè agli Israeliti: «Fino a quando trascurerete di andare a occupare la terra, che il Signore, Dio dei vostri padri, vi ha dato?
4 Choose three men from each tribe for me to send al over the country so that they can make a surveywith a view to their inheritances and then come back to me.	4 Sceglietevi tre uomini per tribù e io li invierò. Essi andranno subito a ispezionare la terra, ne tracceranno un piano per la divisione in eredità e torneranno da me.
5 They wil divide the country into seven portions. Judah wil remain in his territory in the south, andthose of the House of Joseph wil remain in their territory in the north.	5 Essi se la divideranno in sette parti: Giuda rimarrà sul suo territorio nel meridione e quelli della casa di Giuseppe rimarranno sul loro territorio al settentrione.
6 You must survey the country in seven sections and bring your findings to me here, so that I can castlots for you here, in the presence of Yahweh our God.	6 Voi traccerete una mappa scritta della terra in sette parti e me la porterete qui e io getterò per voi la sorte qui, dinanzi al Signore, Dio nostro.
7 The Levites, however, wil have no portion with the rest of you; the priesthood of Yahweh wil be theirheritage. As regards Gad and Reuben and the half-tribe of Manasseh, they have received their heritage on thefurther, eastern side of the Jordan, the one given them by Moses, servant of Yahweh.'	7 Tuttavia non vi è parte per i leviti in mezzo a voi, perché il sacerdozio del Signore è la loro eredità, e Gad, Ruben e metà della tribù di Manasse hanno già ricevuto la loro eredità oltre il Giordano, a oriente, come ha concesso loro Mosè, servo del Signore».
8 The men stood up and set off. To those who were to survey the country Joshua gave this order, 'Startout, then, go al over the country, survey it, and then come back to me; and I shal cast lots for you here, in thepresence of Yahweh, at Shiloh.'	8 Quegli uomini si misero in cammino; Giosuè comandò a coloro che andarono a tracciare una mappa scritta della terra: «Andate a perlustrare la regione, tracciatene una mappa e tornate da me e qui io getterò per voi la sorte davanti al Signore, a Silo».
9 The men left, went al over the country and surveyed it by towns, in seven sections, writing down theirfindings in a book, and then went back to Joshua in the camp at Shiloh.	9 Gli uomini andarono, ispezionarono la regione, ne tracciarono una mappa scritta secondo le città, dividendola in sette parti, e ritornarono da Giosuè all’accampamento, a Silo.
10 Joshua cast lots for them in Yahweh's presence at Shiloh, and there Joshua divided the countrybetween the Israelites, share by share.	10 Allora Giosuè gettò per loro la sorte a Silo, dinanzi al Signore, e lì Giosuè spartì la terra tra gli Israeliti, secondo le loro ripartizioni.
11 A portion fell first to the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, by clans: the territory of their portion laybetween the sons of Judah and the sons of Joseph.	11 Fu tirata a sorte la parte della tribù dei figli di Beniamino, secondo i loro casati; il territorio che toccò loro aveva i confini tra i figli di Giuda e i figli di Giuseppe.
12 Their northern frontier began at the Jordan, went up the flank of Jericho to the north, climbedwestwards through the highlands and came out at the desert of Beth-Aven.	12 Dal lato settentrionale, il loro confine partiva dal Giordano, saliva il pendio settentrionale di Gerico, saliva per la montagna verso occidente e faceva capo al deserto di Bet-Aven.
13 Thence, the frontier went on to Luz, on the southern flank of Luz -- now Bethel-and then down toAtaroth-Arach, on the mountain south of Lower Beth-Horon.	13 Di là passava per Luz, sul versante meridionale di Luz, cioè Betel, e scendeva ad Atròt-Addar, presso il monte che è a mezzogiorno di Bet-Oron inferiore.
14 At this westerly point, the frontier curved round and turned south, from the mountain facing Beth-Horon from the south and came out at Kiriath-Baal, now Kiriath-Jearim, a town of the sons of Judah. That wasthe western side.	14 Poi il confine piegava e, al lato occidentale, girava a mezzogiorno, dal monte posto di fronte a Bet-Oron, a mezzogiorno, e faceva capo a Kiriat-Baal, cioè Kiriat-Iearìm, città dei figli di Giuda. Questo era il lato occidentale.
15 This was the south side: from the tip of Kiriath-Jearim, the frontier went to Gasin and came out nearthe spring of the Waters of Nephtoah,	15 Il lato meridionale cominciava all’estremità di Kiriat-Iearìm. Il confine piegava verso occidente, fino alla fonte delle acque di Neftòach,
16 it then went down to the edge of the mountain facing the Val ey of Hinnom, in the Valley of theRephaim to the north; it then went down into the Val ey of Hinnom, past the southerly flank of the Jebusite, andwent down to En-Rogel.	16 poi scendeva fino al crinale del monte di fronte alla valle di Ben-Innòm, nella valle dei Refaìm, a settentrione, e scendeva per la valle di Ben-Innòm, sul pendio meridionale dei Gebusei, fino a En-Roghel.
17 It then curved northwards, coming out at En-Shemesh, and came out at the stone circle opposite theAscent of Adummim, then went down to the Stone of Bohan son of Reuben.	17 Si estendeva quindi verso il settentrione e giungeva a En-Semes; di là si dirigeva verso Ghelilòt, che è di fronte alla salita di Adummìm, e scendeva al sasso di Boan, figlio di Ruben,
18 It then went on to Cheteph on the flank of Beth-ha-Arabah northwards, and went down into theArabah;	18 poi passava per il pendio settentrionale di fronte all’Araba e scendeva all’Araba.
19 the frontier then passed round the northern flank of Beth-Hoglah, and the frontier came out at thenorthern bay of the Salt Sea, at the southern end of the Jordan. Such was the southern frontier.	19 Il confine passava quindi per il pendio settentrionale di Bet-Cogla e faceva capo al golfo settentrionale del Mar Morto, alla foce meridionale del Giordano. Questo era il confine meridionale.
20 The Jordan itself formed the frontier on the east. Such was the heritage of the sons of Benjamin asdefined by their frontier, by clans.	20 Il Giordano serviva di confine dal lato orientale. Questa era l’eredità dei figli di Beniamino, secondo i loro casati, con i suoi confini da tutti i lati.
21 The towns of the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, by clans, were:	21 Le città della tribù dei figli di Beniamino, secondo i loro casati, erano: Gerico, Bet-Cogla, Emek-Kesis,
22 Jericho, Beth-Hoglah, Emek-Keziz;	22 Bet-Araba, Semaràim, Betel,
23 Beth-Arabah, Zemaraim, Bethel; Avvim, Parah, Ophrah;	23 Avvìm, Para, Ofra,
24 Chephar-Ammoni, Ophni, Geba: twelve towns and their vil ages.	24 Chefar-Ammonài, Ofni e Gheba: dodici città e i loro villaggi;
25 Gibeon, Ramah, Beeroth;	25 Gàbaon, Rama, Beeròt,
26 Mizpeh, Chephirah, Mozah;	26 Mispa, Chefirà, Mosa,
27 Rekem, Irpeel, Taralah;	27 Rekem, Irpeèl, Taralà,
28 Zela-ha-Eleph, the Jebusite -- that is, Jerusalem -- Gibeah and Kiriath: fourteen towns with theirvil ages. Such was the heritage of the sons of Benjamin, by clans.	28 Sela-Elef, la città gebusea, cioè Gerusalemme, Gàbaa, Kiriat-Iearìm: quattordici città e i loro villaggi. Questa era l’eredità dei figli di Beniamino, secondo i loro casati.
