Ezekiel 31

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 In the eleventh year, on the first day of the third month, the word of Yahweh was addressed to me asfol ows,	1 En el año undécimo, el primer día del tercer mes, la palabra del Señor me llegó en estos términos:
2 'Son of man, say to Pharaoh king of Egypt and his throng of subjects: "What can compare with you forgreatness?	2 Hijo de hombre, di al Faraón, rey de Egipto, y a todos sus súbditos: ¿A quién te asemejaste por tu grandeza?
3 I know: a cedar tree in the Lebanon with noble branches, dense foliage, lofty height. Its top pierces theclouds.	3 A un ciprés, a un cedro del Líbano, de hermoso ramaje, de follaje tupido, de altura tan elevada que su copa emerge entre las nubes.
4 The waters have made it grow, the deep has made it tall, pouring its rivers round the place where it isplanted, sending rivulets to al the wild trees.	4 Las aguas lo hicieron crecer y el océano subterráneo lo elevó, haciendo correr sus ríos en torno del lugar donde estaba plantado, y enviando sus canales a todos los árboles del campo.
5 This is why its height was greater than that of other wild trees, its branches increased in number, itsboughs stretched wide, because of the plentiful waters making it grow.	5 Por eso superó en altura a todos los árboles del campo; su ramaje se hizo frondoso y se alargaron sus ramas, regadas por las aguas caudalosas, cuando él echaba sus brotes.
6 Al the birds of heaven nested in its branches; under its boughs all wild animals dropped their young; inits shade sat many, many people.	6 En su ramaje anidaban todos los pájaros del cielo; bajo sus ramas tenían cría todas las bestias del campo, y a su sombre se albergaban todas las grandes naciones.
7 It was beautiful in its size, in the span of its boughs; for its roots were in plentiful waters.	7 Era hermoso por su grandeza, por la envergadura de su copa, porque sus raíces se hundían en las aguas caudalosas.
8 There was no cedar like it in the garden of God, no cypress had branches such as these, no plane treecould match its boughs, no tree in the garden of God could rival its beauty.	8 Ningún cedro en el Jardín de Dios podía hacerle sombre; no había entre los cipreses ramas semejantes a las suyas, y ninguno de los plátanos era comparable a su ramaje. Ningún árbol en el Jardín de Dios se le asemejaba en hermosura.
9 I had made it so lovely with its many branches that it was the envy of every tree in Eden, in the gardenof God.	9 Yo lo había embellecido con abundantes ramas, y lo envidiaban todos los árboles del Edén que están en el Jardín de Dios.
10 "Very wel , the Lord Yahweh says this: "Since it has raised itself to its ful height, has lifted its top into the clouds, and has grown arrogant about its height,	10 Por eso, así habla el Señor: Por haberse elevado tan alto, por haber erguido su copa entre las nubes, y por haberse ensoberbecido a causa de su altura,
11 I have handed it over to the prince of the nations, for him to treat as its wickedness deserves; I haverejected it.	11 por todo eso, yo lo puse en manos de un jefe de naciones, que lo tratará conforme a su maldad. Yo lo he rechazado,
12 Foreigners, the most barbarous of nations, have cut it down and deserted it. On the mountains, in althe val eys, lie its branches; its broken boughs are in every ravine throughout the country; everybody in thecountry has fled its shade and deserted it.	12 y gente extranjera, las más feroces de las naciones, lo han talado y arrojado por las montañas. Sus ramas cayeron en todos los valles, y su copa se desgajó en los cauces de todos los ríos del país. Todos los pueblos de la tierra se han apartado de su sombra, y lo han abandonado.
13 On its wreckage perch al the birds of heaven; all the wild animals have advanced on its branches.	13 Sobre su tronco caído se posan todos los pájaros del cielo, y en sus ramas se cobijan todas las bestias del campo,
14 "So in future let no tree rear its height beside the waters, none push its top into the clouds, nowatered tree stretch its height towards them. For al of them are doomed to death, to the depths of theunderworld, with the common run of humanity, with those who sink into oblivion.	14 para que ningún árbol plantado junto a las aguas se eleve tan alto ni levante su copa entre las nubes, y para que ningún árbol bien regado intente erguirse hasta ellas con toda su altura. ¡Porque todos están destinados a la muerte, a las regiones profundas, en medio de los seres humanos que bajan a la Fosa!
15 "The Lord Yahweh says this: The day it went down to Sheol, I imposed mourning, I closed the deepover it. I stopped its rivers and the plentiful waters dried up; I made Lebanon dark because of it, and al the wildtrees wilted because of it.	15 Así habla el Señor: Cuando el cedro de precipitó en el Abismo, yo hice que el océano subterráneo estuviera de duelo a causa de él: lo cerré, contuve sus ríos, y las grandes aguas quedaron detenidas. Vestí de luto al Líbano por causa de él, y todos los árboles del campo languidecieron.
16 With the noise when it fel I made the nations quake, as I hurled it down to Sheol, with those who sinkinto oblivion. In the depths of the underworld al the trees of Eden took comfort, the pick of the loveliest trees ofthe Lebanon, al irrigated by the waters.	16 Hice temblar a las naciones por el estruendo de su caída, cuando lo precipité en el Abismo, con los que bajan a la Fosa. En las regiones subterráneas se consolaron todos los árboles de Edén, lo más selecto y lo mejor del Líbano, todos los árboles bien regados.
17 And its offspring among the nations, once living in its shade, went down to Sheol with it, to those whohave been slaughtered by the sword.	17 También ellos, los que lo auxiliaban y vivían a su sombra en medio de las naciones, bajaron con él al Abismo, donde están las víctimas de la espada.
18 "Which of the trees of Eden compares with you for glory and greatness? Yet you have been hurleddown with the trees of Eden, to the depths of the underworld, among the uncircumcised, and there you lie withthose who have been slaughtered by the sword. So much for Pharaoh and al his throng -- declares the LordYahweh." '	18 ¡A quién te asemejabas en gloria y en grandeza, entre los árboles de Edén? ¡Y sin embargo has sido precipitado a las regiones subterráneas, con los árboles de Edén! Ahí estás tendido, en medio de incircuncisos, con las víctimas de la espada. Este es el Faraón y todos sus súbditos –oráculo del Señor–.
