Jeremiah 7

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 The word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,	1 Palabra que llegó de parte de Yahveh a Jeremías:
2 'Stand at the gate of the Temple of Yahweh and there proclaim this message. Say, "Listen to the word ofYahweh, al you of Judah who come in by these gates to worship Yahweh.	2 Párate en la puerta de la Casa de Yahveh y proclamarás allí esta palabra. Dirás: Oíd la palabra de Yahveh, todo Judá, los que entráis por estas puertas a postraros ante Yahveh.
3 Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, says this: Amend your behaviour and your actions and I will let youstay in this place.	3 Así dice Yahveh Sebaot, el Dios de Israel: Mejorad de conducta y de obras, y yo haré que os quedéis en este lugar.
4 Do not put your faith in delusive words, such as: This is Yahweh's sanctuary, Yahweh's sanctuary,Yahweh's sanctuary!	4 No fiéis en palabras engañosas diciendo: «¡Templo de Yahveh, Templo de Yahveh, Templo de Yahveh es éste!»
5 But if you really amend your behaviour and your actions, if you real y treat one another fairly,	5 Porque si mejoráis realmente vuestra conducta y obras, si realmente hacéis justicia mutua
6 if you do not exploit the stranger, the orphan and the widow, if you do not shed innocent blood in thisplace and if you do not fol ow other gods, to your own ruin,	6 y no oprimís al forastero, al huérfano y a la viuda (y no vertéis sangre inocente en este lugar), ni andáis en pos de otros dioses para vuestro daño,
7 then I shall let you stay in this place, in the country I gave for ever to your ancestors of old.	7 entonces yo me quedaré con vosotros en este lugar, en la tierra que di a vuestros padres desde siempre hasta siempre.
8 Look, you are putting your faith in delusive, worthless words!	8 Pero he aquí que vosotros fiáis en palabras engañosas que de nada sirven,
9 Steal, would you, murder, commit adultery, perjure yourselves, burn incense to Baal, follow other godsof whom you know nothing? -	9 para robar, matar, adulterar, jurar en falso, incensar a Baal y seguir a otros dioses que no conocíais.
10 and then come and stand before me in this Temple that bears my name, saying: Now we are safe to goon doing al these loathsome things!	10 Luego venís y os paráis ante mí en esta Casa llamada por mi Nombre y decís: «¡Estamos seguros!», para seguir haciendo todas esas abominaciones.
11 Do you look on this Temple that bears my name as a den of bandits? I, at any rate, can see straight,Yahweh declares.	11 ¿En cueva de bandoleros se ha convertido a vuestros ojos esta Casa que se llama por mi Nombre? ¡Que bien visto lo tengo! - oráculo de Yahveh -.
12 "Now go to the place which used to be mine at Shiloh, where I once gave my name a home; see what Ihave done to it because of the wickedness of my people Israel!	12 Pues andad ahora a mi lugar de Silo, donde aposenté mi Nombre antiguamente, y ved lo que hice con él ante la maldad de mi pueblo Israel.
13 And now, since you have done al these things, Yahweh declares, and refused to listen when I spokeso urgently, so persistently, or to answer when I cal ed you,	13 Y ahora, por haber hecho vosotros todo esto - oráculo de Yahveh - por más que os hablé asiduamente, aunque no me oísteis, y os llamé, mas no respondisteis,
14 I shal treat this Temple that bears my name, and in which you put your heart, the place that I gave youand your ancestors, just as I treated Shiloh,	14 yo haré con la Casa que se llama por mi Nombre, en la que confiáis, y con el lugar que os di a vosotros y a vuestros padres, como hice con Silo,
15 and I shal drive you out of my sight, as I did al your kinsfolk, the whole race of Ephraim."	15 y os echaré de mi presencia como eché a todos vuestros hermanos, a toda la descendencia de Efraím.
16 'You, for your part, must not intercede for this people, nor raise either plea or prayer on their behalf; donot plead with me, for I wil not listen to you.	16 En cuanto a ti, no pidas por este pueblo ni eleves por ellos plegaria ni oración, ni me insistas, porque no te oiré.
17 Can you not see what they are doing in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?	17 ¿Es que no ves lo que ellos hacen en las ciudades de Judá y por las calles de Jerusalén?
18 The children collect the wood, the fathers light the fire, the women knead the dough, to make cakes forthe Queen of Heaven; and, to spite me, they pour libations to alien gods.	18 Los hijos recogen leña, los padres prenden fuego, las mujeres amasan para hacer tortas a la Reina de los Cielos, y se liba en honor de otros dioses para exasperarme.
19 Is it real y me they spite, Yahweh demands, is it not in fact themselves, to their own confusion?	19 ¿A mí me exasperan ésos? - oráculo de Yahveh -, ¿no es a sí mismos, para vergüenza de sus rostros?
20 So, Lord Yahweh says this, "My anger, my wrath wil be poured down on this place, on man and beast,on the trees of the countryside and the fruits of the soil; it wil burn, and not be quenched."	20 Por tanto, así dice el Señor Yahveh: He aquí que mi ira y mi saña se vuelca sobre este lugar, sobre hombres y bestias bestias, sobre los árboles del campo y el fruto del suelo; arderá y no se apagará.
21 'Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, says this, "Add your burnt offerings to your sacrifices and eat allthe meat.	21 Así dice Yahveh Sebaot, el Dios de Israel. Añadid vuestros holocaustos a vuestros sacrificios y comeos la carne.
22 For when I brought your ancestors out of Egypt, I said nothing to them, gave them no orders, aboutburnt offerings or sacrifices.	22 Que cuando yo saqué a vuestros padres del país de Egipto, no les hablé ni les mandé nada tocante a holocausto y sacrificio.
23 My one command to them was this: Listen to my voice, then I wil be your God and you shal be mypeople. In everything, fol ow the way that I mark out for you, and you shal prosper.	23 Lo que les mandé fue esto otro: «Escuchad mi voz y yo seré vuestro Dios y vosotros seréis mi pueblo, y seguiréis todo camino que yo os mandare, para que os vaya bien».
24 But they did not listen, they did not pay attention; they followed their own devices, their own stubbornand wicked inclinations, and got worse rather than better.	24 Mas ellos no escucharon ni prestaron el oído, sino que procedieron en sus consejos según la pertinacia de su mal corazón, y se pusieron de espaldas, que no de cara;
25 From the day your ancestors left Egypt until today, I have sent you al my servants the prophets,persistently sending them day after day.	25 desde la fecha en que salieron vuestros padres del país de Egipto hasta el día de hoy, os envié a todos mis siervos, los profetas, cada día puntualmente.
26 But they have not listened to me, have not paid attention; they have deliberately resisted, behavingworse than their ancestors.	26 Pero no me escucharon ni aplicaron el oído, sino que atiesando la cerviz hicieron peor que sus padres.
27 So you will tel them al this, but they wil not listen to you; you wil cal them, but they wil not answeryou."	27 Les dirás, pues, todas estas palabras, mas no te escucharán. Les llamarás y no te responderán.
28 Then you are to say to them, "This is the nation that wil neither listen to the voice of Yahweh its Godnor take correction. Sincerity is no more, it has vanished from their mouths.	28 Entonces les dirás: Esta es la nación que no ha escuchado la voz de Yahveh su Dios, ni ha querido aprender. Ha perecido la lealtad, ha desaparecido de su boca.
29 "Cut off your tresses, throw them away! On the bare heights raise a dirge, for Yahweh has rejected,has abandoned, a brood that enrages him!"	29 Córtate tus guedejas y tíralas, y entona por los calveros una elegía; que Yahveh ha desechado y repudiado a la generación objeto de su cólera.
30 'Yes, the people of Judah have done what displeases me, Yahweh declares. They have set up theirHorrors in the Temple that bears my name, to defile it,	30 Los hijos de Judá han hecho lo que me parece malo - oráculo de Yahveh -: han puesto sus Monstruos abominables en la Casa que llaman por mi Nombre profanándola,
31 and have built the high places of Topheth in the Valley of Ben-Hinnom, to burn their sons anddaughters: a thing I never ordered, that had never entered my thoughts.	31 y han construido los altos de Tófet - que está en el valle de Ben Hinnom - para quemar a sus hijos e hijas en el fuego, cosa que nos les mandé ni me pasó por las mientes.
32 So now the days are coming, Yahweh declares, when people will no longer say Topheth or Val ey ofBen-Hinnom, but Valley of Slaughter. Topheth wil become a burial ground, for lack of other space;	32 Por tanto, he aquí que vienen días - oráculo de Yahveh - en que no se hablará más de Tófet, ni del valle de Ben Hinnom, sino del “valle de la Matanza”. Se harán enterramientos en Tófet por falta de sitio,
33 the corpses of this people will be food for the birds of the sky and the animals of earth, and there will beno one to drive them off.	33 y los cadáveres de este pueblo servirán de comida a las aves del cielo y a las bestias de la tierra, sin que haya quien las espante.
34 I shal silence the shouts of rejoicing and mirth and the voices of bridegroom and bride, in the towns ofJudah and the streets of Jerusalem, for the country will be reduced to desert.'	34 Suspenderé en las ciudades de Judá y en las calles de Jerusalén toda voz de gozo y alegría, la voz del novio y la voz de la novia; porque toda la tierra quedará desolada.
