Sirach 14

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA VOLGARE
1 Blessed is anyone who has not sinned in speech and who needs feel no remorse for sins.	1 Beato l'uomo il quale non ha straparlato per le parole della bocca sua, e non è stimolato nella tristizia del peccato.
2 Blessed is anyone whose conscience brings no reproach and who has never given up hope.	2 Felice è colui che non ebbe tristizia nell' animo suo, e non falla della sua speranza.
3 Wealth is not the right thing for the niggardly, and what use are possessions to the covetous?	3 La ricchezza è venuta sanza ragione all' uomo cupido e tenace: a che è l'oro utile all' uomo invidioso?
4 Whoever hoards by stinting himself is hoarding for others, and others wil live sumptuously on hisriches.	4 Quello che dell' animo suo ingiustamente raccoglie, sì raduna ad altri; e nelli beni suoi altri trionferà.
5 If someone is mean to himself, whom does he benefit? he does not even enjoy what is his own.	5 Quello che è a sè reo, a cui altro sarà buono? ed elli non si rallegrerae nelli suoi beni.
6 No one is meaner than the person who is mean to himself, this is how his wickedness repays him.	6 Nulla cosa è peggiore, che colui che ha invidia contro a sè medesimo; e questo è uno rendimento della malizia sua.
7 If he does any good, he does it unintentional y, and in the end he himself reveals his wickedness.	7 E se egli farà bene ignorantemente, non volendolo fare, alla perfine manifesta la malizia sua.
8 Wicked the person who has an envious eye, averting his face, and careless of others' lives.	8 Malvagio è l'occhio dello invidioso; e travolgente la faccia sua, e dispregiante l'anima sua.
9 The eye of the grasping is not content with what he has, greed shrivels up the soul.	9 L'occhio dello avaro sì è insaziabile in parte d' iniquitade; non si sazierae infino ch' elli consumi (la ingiustizia) inaridendo l' anima sua.
10 The miser is grudging of bread, there is famine at his table.	10 Il reo occhio alli mali si volgerae, e non si sazierà di pane, e sarae in tristizia sopra la mensa sua.
11 My child, treat yourself as wel as you can afford, and bring worthy offerings to the Lord.	11 Figliuolo, se tu hai, fa bene teco, e offera a Dio degna offerta.
12 Remember that death wil not delay, and that you have never seen Sheol's contract.	12 Ricordati che la morte non tarda; dà il testamento di quelli dello inferno, per che t' è dimostrato; il testamento di questo mondo è, che l'uomo per morte muoia.
13 Be kind to your friend before you die, treat him as generously as you can afford.	13 Fa bene allo amico inanzi la tua morte, secondo la facoltade tua dà al povero
14 Do not refuse yourself the good things of today, do not let your share of what is lawfully desired passyou by.	14 E non sii ingannato dal buono die, e la particola del buono di non ti lasci.
15 Wil you not have to leave your fortune to another, and the fruit of your labour to be divided by lot?	15 Non lasciarai li dolori tuoi alli altri nella divisione della parte?
16 Give and receive, enjoy yourself -- there are no pleasures to be found in Sheol.	16 Da, e togli, e giustifica l'anima tua.
17 Like clothes, every body wil wear out, the age -- old law is, 'Everyone must die.'	17 Opera giustizia inanzi la morte tua, però che non si trova vivanda in inferno.
18 Like foliage growing on a bushy tree, some leaves fal ing, others growing, so are the generations offlesh and blood: one dies, another is born.	18 Ogni carne, sì come il fieno, s' invecchia, e sì come foglia fruttificante nell' albero verde.
19 Every achievement rots away and perishes, and with it goes its author.	19 Chè altre [si] gènerano, altre caggiono; così è la generazione della carne e del sangue; altra finisce e altra nasce.
20 Blessed is anyone who meditates on wisdom, and reasons with intelligence,	20 Ogni opera corruttibile mancherà in fine; e colui che fa quella opera anderà con essa.
21 who studies her ways in his heart, and ponders her secrets.	21 E ogni opera eletta fia giustificata; e colui che la fa, sarà onorato in quella.
22 He pursues her like a hunter, and lies in wait by her path;	22 Beato l'uomo che nella sapienza dimorerae, e colui che contemplerae nella sua giustizia, e nel senno sì penserà la sapienza di Dio.
23 he peeps in at her windows, and listens at her doors;	23 Colui che considera le vie di quella nel cuore suo, e colui che intende li secreti d' essa, va dietro a lei sì come ricercatore, e perseverante nelle sue vie;
24 he lodges close to her house, and fixes his peg in her wal s;	24 che guarda per le finestre di colei, e intende nelle porte di colei;
25 he pitches his tent at her side, and lodges in an excel ent lodging;	25 colui che si riposa appresso la casa di colei, e nelli pareti suoi si fortificherae, ordinerae la casellina sua alla casa di colei; e li beni per lei si riposaranno alla casellina di colui.
26 he sets his children in her shade, and camps beneath her branches;	26 Ordinerae li figliuoli suoi sotto la copertura di colei, e dimorerae sotto li rami di colei.
27 he is sheltered by her from the heat, and in her glory he makes his home.	27 Sarà coperto dal caldo sotto la covertura di colei, e nella gloria sua si riposerà.
