[For the choirmaster Tune: 'The decrees are lilies' Of Asaph Psalm] Shepherd of Israel, listen, you wholead Joseph like a flock, enthroned on the winged creatures, shine forth | 1 For the leader; according to "Lilies." Eduth. A psalm of Asaph. |
over Ephraim, Benjamin and Manasseh; rouse your valour and come to our help. | 2 Shepherd of Israel, listen, guide of the flock of Joseph! From your throne upon the cherubim reveal yourself |
God, bring us back, let your face shine on us and we shall be safe. | 3 to Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh. Stir up your power, come to save us. |
Yahweh, God Sabaoth, how long wil you flare up at your people's prayer? | 4 O LORD of hosts, restore us; Let your face shine upon us, that we may be saved. |
You have made tears their food, redoubled tears their drink. | 5 LORD of hosts, how long will you burn with anger while your people pray? |
You let our neighbours quarrel over us, our enemies mock us. | 6 You have fed them the bread of tears, made them drink tears in abundance. |
God Sabaoth, bring us back, let your face shine on us and we shall be safe. | 7 You have left us to be fought over by our neighbors; our enemies deride us. |
You brought a vine out of Egypt, to plant it you drove out nations; | 8 O LORD of hosts, restore us; let your face shine upon us, that we may be saved. |
you cleared a space for it, it took root and fil ed the whole country. | 9 You brought a vine out of Egypt; you drove away the nations and planted it. |
The mountains were covered with its shade, and the cedars of God with its branches, | 10 You cleared the ground; it took root and filled the land. |
its boughs stretched as far as the sea, its shoots as far as the River. | 11 The mountains were covered by its shadow, the cedars of God by its branches. |
Why have you broken down its fences? Every passer-by plucks its grapes, | 12 It sent out boughs as far as the sea, shoots as far as the river. |
boars from the forest tear at it, wild beasts feed on it. | 13 Why have you broken down the walls, so that all who pass by pluck its fruit? |
God Sabaoth, come back, we pray, look down from heaven and see, visit this vine; | 14 The boar from the forest strips the vine; the beast of the field feeds upon it. |
protect what your own hand has planted. | 15 Turn again, LORD of hosts; look down from heaven and see; Attend to this vine, |
They have thrown it on the fire like dung, the frown of your rebuke wil destroy them. | 16 the shoot your right hand has planted. |
May your hand protect those at your side, the child of Adam you have strengthened for yourself! | 17 Those who would burn or cut it down-- may they perish at your rebuke. |
Never again wil we turn away from you, give us life and we will cal upon your name. | 18 May your help be with the man at your right hand, with the one whom you once made strong. |
God Sabaoth, bring us back, let your face shine on us and we shal be safe. | 19 Then we will not withdraw from you; revive us, and we will call on your name. |
LORD of hosts, restore us; let your face shine upon us, that we may be saved. |
