Tobit 8

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 When they had finished eating and drinking and it seemed time to go to bed, the young man was takenfrom the dining room to the bedroom.	1 Cuando terminaron de comer y beber, decidieron ir a costarse. Acompañaron al joven y lo hicieron entrar en la habitación.
2 Tobias remembered Raphael's advice; he went to his bag, took the fish's heart and liver out of it and putsome on the burning incense.	2 Entonces Tobías se acordó de los consejos de Rafael, sacó de su bolsa el hígado y el corazón del pez y los colocó sobre el brasero de los perfumes.
3 The reek of the fish distressed the demon, who fled through the air to Egypt. Raphael pursued himthere, shackled him and strangled him forthwith.	3 El olor del pez alejó al demonio, y este huyó por el aire hacia las regiones de Egipto. Rafael lo persiguió, lo sujetó y lo encadenó al instante.
4 The parents meanwhile had gone out and shut the door behind them. Tobias rose from the bed, andsaid to Sarah, 'Get up, my sister! You and I must pray and petition our Lord to win his grace and his protection.'	4 Mientras tanto, los padres habían salido de la habitación y cerraron la puerta. Tobías se levantó de la cama y dijo a Sara: «Levántate, hermana, y oremos para pedir al Señor que nos manifieste su misericordia y su salvación».
5 She stood up, and they began praying for protection, and this was how he began: You are blessed, OGod of our fathers; blessed too is your name for ever and ever. Let the heavens bless you and al things youhave made for evermore.	5 Ella se levantó, y los dos se pusieron a orar para alcanzar la salvación. El comenzó así: «¡Bendito seas, Dios de nuestros padres, y bendito sea tu Nombre por todos los siglos de los siglos! ¡Que te bendigan los cielos y todas tus criaturas por todos los siglos!
6 You it was who created Adam, you who created Eve his wife to be his help and support; and from thesetwo the human race was born. You it was who said, 'It is not right that the man should be alone; let us make hima helper like him.'	6 Tú creaste a Adán e hiciste a Eva, su mujer, para que le sirviera de ayuda y de apoyo, y de ellos dos nació el género humano. Tú mismo dijiste: «No conviene que el hombre esté solo. Hagámosle una ayuda semejante a él».
7 And so I take my sister not for any lustful motive, but I do it in singleness of heart. Be kind enough tohave pity on her and on me and bring us to old age together.	7 Yo ahora tomo por esposa a esta hermana mía, no para satisfacer una pasión desordenada, sino para constituir un verdadero matrimonio. ¡Ten misericordia de ella y de mí, y concédenos llegar juntos a la vejez!».
8 And together they said, 'Amen, Amen,'	8 Ambos dijeron: «¡Amén, amén!»,
9 and lay down for the night. But Raguel rose and cal ed his servants, who came and helped him dig agrave.	9 y se acostaron a dormir. Cuando Ragüel se levantó, llamó sus servidores y fue con ellos a cavar una fosa.
10 He had thought, 'Heaven grant he does not die! We should be overwhelmed with ridicule and shame.'	10 Porque había pensado: «No sea que Tobías haya muerto y nos expongamos a caer en el ridículo».
11 When the grave was ready, Raguel went back to the house, called his wife	11 Apenas terminaron de cavar la fosa, Ragüel volvió a la casa, llamó a su mujer
12 and said, 'Will you send a maid to the room to see if Tobias is stil alive? For if he is dead, we may beable to bury him without anyone else knowing.'	12 y le dijo: «Manda a una de las sirvientas a la habitación, para ver si él está vivo. Así, si está muerto, lo enterraremos sin que nadie se entere».
13 They sent the maid, lit the lamp, opened the door and the maid went in. She found the two fast asleeptogether;	13 Mandaron adelante a la sirvienta, encendieron la lámpara y abrieron la puerta. Ella entró y los encontró a los dos juntos, profundamente dormidos.
14 she came out again and whispered, 'He is not dead; al is wel .'	14 Luego salió y les avisó: «Está vivo; no ha pasado nada malo».
15 Then Raguel blessed the God of heaven with these words: You are blessed, my God, with everyblessing that is pure; may you be blessed for evermore!	15 Entonces Ragüel bendijo al Dios del cielo, diciendo: «¡Bendito seas, Señor, con la más pura bendición! ¡Que te bendigan por todos los siglos!
16 You are blessed for having made me glad. What I feared has not happened, instead you have shownus your boundless mercy.	16 ¡Bendito seas por la alegría que me has dado! No ha sucedido lo que yo temía, sino que nos has tratado según tu gran misericordia.
17 You are blessed for taking pity on this only son, this only daughter. Grant them, Master, your mercyand your protection; let them live out their lives in happiness and in mercy.	17 ¡Bendito seas por haberte compadecido de estos dos hijos únicos! ¡Manifiéstales, Señor, tu misericordia y tu salvación, y concédeles una vida llena de alegría y de gracia!».
18 And he made his servants fil the grave in before dawn broke.	18 Después Ragüel ordenó a sus servidores que rellenaran la fosa, antes que amaneciera.
19 He told his wife to make an ovenful of bread; he went to his flock, brought back two oxen and foursheep and gave orders for them to be cooked; and preparations began.	19 Luego dijo a su mujer que hiciera una hornada de pan, y él fue al establo, tomó dos bueyes y cuatro carneros, mandó cocinarlos y comenzaron los preparativos.
20 He called Tobias and said, 'I wil not hear of your leaving here for a fortnight. You are to stay whereyou are, eating and drinking, with me. You wil make my daughter happy again after al her troubles.	20 Hizo llamar a Tobías y le dijo: «Durante catorce días no te moverás de este lugar. Te quedarás, aquí, comiendo y bebiendo conmigo, y alegrando a mi hija que ha sufrido tanto.
21 After that, take away a half of al I have, and take her safe and sound back to your father. When mywife and I are dead you shall have the other half. Courage, my boy! I am your father, and Edna is your mother.We are your parents in future, as we are your sister's. Courage, my son!'	21 Después tomarás la mitad de mis bienes y volverás sano y salvo a la casa de tu padre. Cuando mi mujer y yo hayamos muerto, también recibirás la otra mitad. ¡Animo, hijo mío! Yo soy tu padre y Edna es tu madre. Desde ahora y para siempre, estamos unidos a ti lo mismo que a tu hermano. ¡Animo, hijo mío!».
