NEW JERUSALEMNOVA VULGATA
He made a bronze altar, twenty cubits long, twenty cubits wide and ten cubits high.1 Fecit quoque altare aeneum viginti cubitorum longitudinis et viginti cubitorum latitudinis et decem cubitorum
He made the Sea of cast metal, ten cubits from rim to rim, circular in shape and five cubits high; a cordthirty cubits long gave the measurement of its girth.2 altitudinis. Mare etiam fusile decem cubitis a labio usque ad labium rotundum per circuitum; quinque cubitos habebat altitudinis, et funiculus triginta cubitorum ambiebat gyrum eius.
Under it and completely encircling it were things like oxen, ten to the cubit round the entire Sea; theoxen were in two rows, of one and the same casting with the rest.3 Similitudo quoque boum erat subter illud, in circuitu circumdabant illud — decem cubitis — duobus versibus alvum maris circuibant boves fusiles in una fusione cum mari.
It rested on twelve oxen, three facing north, three facing west, three facing south, three facing east; onthese, their hindquarters al turned inwards, stood the Sea.4 Et ipsum mare super duodecim boves impositum erat, quorum tres respiciebant aquilonem et alii tres occidentem, porro tres alii meridiem et tres, qui reliqui erant, orientem habentes mare superpositum; posteriora autem boum erant intrinsecus sub mari.
It was a hand's breadth in thickness, and its rim was shaped like the rim of a cup-lily-shaped. It couldhold three thousand bat.5 Porro vastitas eius habebat mensuram palmi, et labium illius erat quasi labium calicis vel repandi lilii; capiebatque tria milia batos.
He made ten basins, putting five on the right and five on the left, for washing in; the things to be offeredas burnt offerings were to be rinsed in these, but the Sea was for the priests to wash in.6 Fecit quoque luteres decem et posuit quinque a dextris et quinque a sinistris, ut lavarent in eis omnia, quae in holocaustum oblaturi erant; porro in mari sacerdotes lavabantur.
He made the ten golden lamp-stands according to the pattern and placed them in the Hekal, five on theright and five on the left.7 Fecit autem et candelabra aurea decem secundum speciem, qua iussa erant fieri, et posuit ea in templo quinque a dextris et quinque a sinistris.
He made ten tables which he set up in the Hekal, five on the right and five on the left. He also made ahundred golden sprinkling bowls.8 Necnon et mensas decem, et posuit eas in templo quinque a dextris et quinque a sinistris; phialas quoque aureas centum.
He made the court of the priests and the great court with its gates and plated the gates with bronze.9 Fecit etiam atrium sacerdotum et atrium grande et ostia in atrio, quae texit aere.
The Sea he placed on the right-hand side of the Temple, to the south-east.10 Porro mare posuit in latere dextro contra orientem ad meridiem.
Huram made the ash containers, the scoops and the sprinkling bowls. Thus Huram completed al thework done for King Solomon for the Temple of God:11 Fecit autem Hiram lebetes et vatilla et phialas et complevit omne opus regis Salomonis in domo Dei;
the two pillars; the mouldings of the capitals surmounting the two pil ars; the two sets of filigree tocover the two mouldings of the capitals surmounting the pil ars;12 hoc est columnas duas et globos et capitella super caput columnarum duarum et serta duo, quae tegerent globos capitellorum;
the four hundred pomegranates for the two sets of filigree -- two rows of pomegranates for each set offiligree;13 malogranata quoque quadringenta et serta duo, ita ut bini ordines malogranatorum singulis sertis iungerentur, quae protegerent globos capitellorum columnarum.
the ten stands and the ten basins on the stands;14 Bases etiam fecit et luteres, quos superposuit basibus,
the one Sea and the twelve oxen beneath it;15 mare unum, boves quoque duodecim sub mari;
the ash containers, scoops and forks. Al these utensils made by Huram-Abi for King Solomon for theTemple of Yahweh were of burnished bronze.16 et lebetes et vatilla et fuscinulas: omnia vasa fecit regi Salomoni Hiram magister eius pro domo Domini ex aere mundissimo.
The King made them by the process of sand casting, in the plain of the Jordan between Succoth andZeredah.17 In regione Iordanis fudit ea rex in argillosa terra inter Succoth et Saredatha.
There was such an enormous quantity of them that the weight of the bronze could not be calculated.18 Fecitque Salomon multitudinem vasorum innumerabilem, ita ut ignoraretur pondus aeris.
Solomon made al the objects designed for the Temple of God, as wel as the golden altar and thetables for the loaves of permanent offering;19 Fecitque Salomon omnia vasa domus Dei et altare aureum et mensas et super eas panes propositionis;
the lamp-stands with their lamps to burn, as prescribed, in front of the Debir, of pure gold;20 candelabra quoque cum lucernis suis, ut lucerent ante Dabir iuxta ritum, ex auro purissimo,
the floral work, the lamps, the tongs, of gold (and it was pure gold);21 et florem et lucernas et forcipes aureos: omnia de auro perfectissimo facta sunt;
the snuffers, the sprinkling bowls, incense ladles and the pans, of real gold; and the entrance to theTemple, the inner doors (for the Holy of Holies) and the doors of the Temple itself, that is of the Hekal, were alsomade of gold.22 cultros quoque et phialas et sartagines et turibula ex auro purissimo. Et ostia templi interiora in sancta sanctorum et ostia templi forinsecus aurea.
