2 Kings 14

1 In the second year of Joash son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel, Amaziah son of Joash became king ofJudah.	1 Nel secondo anno di Ioas, figliuolo di Ioacaz re d'Israel, regnò Amasia figliuolo di Ioas re di Giuda.
2 He was twenty-five years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for twenty-nine years inJerusalem. His mother's name was Jehoaddin of Jerusalem.	2 E quando incominciò a regnare era di XXV anni: [XXVIIII anni) regnò in Ierusalem; il nome della madre fu Ioadan di Ierusalem.
3 He did what Yahweh regards as right, though not like his ancestor David; he imitated his father Joashin all respects.	3 E fece quello ch' era diritto nel cospetto di Dio, ma non sì come David suo padre fece. E fece egli tutte quelle cose che fece Ioas suo padre;
4 The high places, however, were not abolished, and the people stil offered sacrifices and incense onthe high places.	4 salvo questo, che non tolse via i luoghi alti; però [che] anche il popolo sacrificava e offeriva incenso in quelli luoghi atti.
5 Once the kingdom was firmly under his control, he kil ed those of his retainers who had murdered theking his father.	5 E avendo egli ottenuto il reame, uccise i servi suoi i quali aveano morto il re suo padre.
6 But he did not put the murderers' sons to death, in accordance with what is written in the Book ofMoses, where Yahweh has commanded: 'Parents may not be put to death for their children, nor children forparents, but each must be put to death for his own crime.'	6 Ma gli figliuoli non uccise, secondo che è scritto nel libro della legge di Moisè, sì come il Signore comandò, dicendo: non morranno i padri per li figliuoli, nè anche i figliuoli per i padri; ma ciascuno morrà nel peccato suo.
7 It was he who slaughtered the Edomites in the Valley of Salt, ten thousand of them, and captured theRock; he gave it the name Joktheel, which it bears to the present day.	7 Ed egli percosse Edom nella valle di Saline dieci millia uomini, e prese la pietra nella battaglia, e chiamolla per nome Iecteel insino al dì presente.
8 Amaziah then sent messengers to Jehoash son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel, saying, 'Come and make atrial of strength!'	8 E allotta Amasia mandò messaggi a Ioas (re) figliuolo di Ioacaz figliuolo di Ieu re d' Israel, dicendo: vieni e veggiamci insieme.
9 Jehoash king of Israel sent back word to Amaziah king of Judah, 'The thistle of Lebanon sent amessage to the cedar of Lebanon, saying, "Give my son your daughter in marriage"; but a wild animal of theLebanon ran over the thistle and squashed it.	9 E Ioas re d' Israel rimandò ad Amasia re di Giuda, dicendo: il cardo del monte Libano mandò al cedro il quale è nel Libano, dicendo: dà la tua figliuola per moglie al mio figliuolo. 10 You have conquered Edom and now aspire to even greater glory. Stay where you belong! Whyprovoke disaster, to your own and Judah's ruin?'	10 Però che percotendo vincesti Edom, il tuo cuore tha levato in alto; istà contento della gloria (tua), e siediti in casa tua; perchè provochi tu il male, acciò che tu cadi, e Giuda teco?
11 But Amaziah would not listen, so Jehoash king of Israel marched to the attack. And at Beth-Shemesh,which belongs to Judah, he and Amaziah king of Judah made their trial of strength.	11 E non consentìo Amasia; e ascendeo Ioas re d' Israel, e viddersi insieme, egli e Amasia re di Giuda, in Betsames città di Giuda.
12 Judah was defeated by Israel, and everyone fled to his tent.	12 E fu percosso Giuda nel cospetto d' Israel, e ciascuno fuggì nel suo tabernacolo.
13 The king of Judah, Amaziah son of Jehoash, son of Ahaziah, was taken prisoner at Beth-Shemesh byJehoash king of Israel who led him off to Jerusalem, where he demolished four hundred cubits of the city wallbetween the Ephraim Gate and the Corner Gate;	13 E Amasia re di Giuda, figliuolo di Ioas figliuolo di Ocozia, fu preso da Ioas re d'Israel in Betsames, e menollo in Ierusalem; e ruppe il muro [di Ierusalem], della porta d' Efraim insino alla porta dell' angolo, quattrocento cubiti.
14 al the gold and silver, and al the vessels to be found in the Temple of Yahweh and in the palacetreasury, and hostages besides, he then took back with him to Samaria.	14 E tolse tutto l'oro e l'ariento, e tutte le vasa le quali furono trovate nella casa di Dio e ne' tesori del re; e tolse li ostaggi, e ritornossi in Samaria.
15 The rest of the history of Jehoash, his entire career, his prowess, how he waged war on Amaziah kingof Judah, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals of the Kings of Israel?	15 Tutte le altre cose che Ioas fece, e la sua fortezza con la quale combattè contra Amasia re di Giuda, non sono sono elle scritte nel libro de' fatti de' tempi de' re d'Israel?
16 Then Joash fel asleep with his ancestors, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; his sonJeroboam succeeded him.	16 E dormì Ioas con i padri suoi, e fu sepolto in Samaria con i re d' Israel; e regnò Ieroboam suo figliuolo per lui.
17 Amaziah son of Joash, king of Judah, lived for fifteen years after the death of Jehoash son ofJehoahaz, king of Israel.	17 E vivette Amasia figliuolo di Ioas re di Giuda, poi che morì Ioas figliuolo di Ioacaz re d' Israel, XV anni.

19 A plot having been hatched against him in Jerusalem, he fled to Lachish; but he was fol owed toLachish where he was murdered.	19 E in Ierusalem fu fatta congiurazione contro a lui; ed egli fuggì in Lachis. E mandarono dopo lui in Lachis, e ivi l'uccisono.

24 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh and did not give up any of the sins into which Jeroboam son ofNebat had led Israel.	24 E fece male nel cospetto di Dio. Non si partì da tutti i peccati di Ieroboam figliuolo di Nabat, il quale fece peccare Israel.
25 It was he who recovered the territory of Israel from the Pass of Hamath to the Sea of the Arabah, inaccordance with the word which Yahweh, God of Israel, had spoken through his servant Jonah son of Amittai,the prophet from Gath-Hepher.	25 Egli rendè ad Israel i suoi confini, dall' entrata di Emat insino al mare della solitudine, secondo la parola del Signore Iddio d' Israel, la quale disse per lo suo servo Iona figliuolo di Amati profeta, il qual era di Get, la quale era in Ofer.
26 For Yahweh had seen how very bitter the affliction of Israel was, with no one, either fettered or free, tocome to Israel's help.	26 Però che il Signore vidde l'afflizione d' Israel troppo amara, e che loro erano consumati insino a quelli ch' erano serrati in carcere e ultimi; non era chi aiutasse Israel.
27 But Yahweh had resolved not to blot out the name of Israel under heaven; he rescued them by meansof Jeroboam son of Joash.	27 E non avea detto il Signore di disfare il nome d' Israel sotto il cielo; ma salvogli in mano di Ieroboam figliuolo di Ioas.
28 The rest of the history of Jeroboam, his entire career, his prowess, what wars he waged, how hebrought Damascus and Hamath back to their allegiance to Judah and Israel, is this not recorded in the Book ofthe Annals of the Kings of Israel?	28 E tutti gli altri fatti di Ieroboam, e tutte le cose che fece, e la sua fortezza per la quale combattè, e come restituì Damasco ed Emat di Giuda in Israel, non sono loro scritte nel libro de' fatti del tempo de' re d' Israel?
29 Then Jeroboam fell asleep with his ancestors and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; hisson Zechariah succeeded him.	29 E dormì Ieroboam colli padri suoi; e regnò Zacaria suo figliuolo per lui.
