1 This is what happened next: Naboth of Jezreel had a vineyard close by the palace of Ahab king ofSamaria,	1 Passado tudo isso, aconteceu o seguinte: Nabot de Jezrael possuía uma vinha nessa cidade, ao lado do palácio de Acab, rei de Samaria.
2 and Ahab said to Naboth, 'Give me your vineyard to be my vegetable garden, since it adjoins mypalace; I will give you a better vineyard for it or, if you prefer, I wil give you its value in money.'	2 Acab disse a Nabot: Cede-me tua vinha, para que eu a transforme numa horta, porque está junto de minha casa. Dar-te-ei em troca uma vinha melhor, ou se o preferires, pagar-te-ei em dinheiro o seu valor.
3 Naboth, however, said to Ahab, 'Yahweh forbid that I should give you my ancestral heritage!'	3 Nabot, porém, respondeu a Acab: Deus me livre de ceder-te a herança de meus pais!
4 Ahab went home gloomy and out of temper at the words of Naboth of Jezreel, 'I wil not give you myheritage from my ancestors.' He lay down on his bed and turned his face away and refused to eat.	4 Acab voltou para a sua casa sombrio e irritado, por ter Nabot de Jezrael recusado ceder-lhe a herança de seus pais. Estendeu-se na cama com o rosto voltado para a parede, e não quis comer.
5 His wife Jezebel came to him. 'Why are you so dispirited,' she said, 'that you refuse to eat?'	5 Jezabel, sua mulher, veio ter com ele e disse-lhe: Por que estás de mau humor e não queres comer?
6 He said, 'I have been talking to Naboth of Jezreel. I said, "Give me your vineyard either for money or, ifyou prefer, for another vineyard in exchange." But he said, "I wil not give you my vineyard." '	6 Ele respondeu: Falei a Nabot de Jezrael, propondo-lhe que me vendesse a sua vinha, ou, se o preferisse, que a trocasse comigo por outra melhor; mas ele respondeu-me: Não te cederei a minha vinha.
7 Then his wife Jezebel said, 'Some king of Israel you make! Get up, eat and take heart; I myself shalget you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.'	7 Jezabel, sua mulher, disse-lhe: Não és tu, porventura, o rei de Israel? Vamos! Come, não te incomodes. Eu te darei a vinha de Nabot de Jezrael.
8 So she wrote a letter in Ahab's name and sealed it with his seal, sending the letter to the elders and notables of the city where Naboth lived.	8 Escreveu ela, então, uma carta em nome do rei, selou-a com o selo real, e mandou-a aos anciãos e aos notáveis da cidade, concidadãos de Nabot.
9 In the letter, she wrote, 'Proclaim a fast, and put Naboth in a prominent place among the people.	9 Eis o que dizia na carta: Promulgai um jejum, fazei sentar Nabot num lugar de honra,
10 There confront him with a couple of scoundrels who wil accuse him as follows, "You have cursedGod and the king." Then take him outside and stone him to death.'	10 e mandai vir diante dele dois homens inescrupulosos que o acusem, dizendo: Este amaldiçoou a Deus e ao rei. - Conduzi-o em seguida para fora da cidade e apedrejai-o até que morra!
11 The men of Naboth's city, the elders and notables living in his city, did what Jezebel ordered, as waswritten in the letter which she had sent him.	11 Os homens da cidade, os anciãos e os notáveis, concidadãos de Nabot, fizeram o que ordenava Jezabel, segundo o conteúdo da carta que lhes tinha mandado.
12 They proclaimed a fast and put Naboth in a prominent place among the people.	12 Promulgaram um jejum e fizeram Nabot sentar-se num lugar de honra.
13 The two scoundrels then came and confronted him, and the scoundrels then publicly accused Nabothas fol ows, 'Naboth has cursed God and the king.' He was then taken outside the city and stoned to death.	13 Vieram então os dois miseráveis, colocaram-se diante dele e fizeram publicamente a deposição seguinte contra ele: Nabot amaldiçoou a Deus e ao rei. Depois disto, levaram-no para fora da cidade, onde foi apedrejado e morreu.
14 They then sent word to Jezebel, 'Naboth has been stoned to death.'	14 E mandaram dizer a Jezabel: Nabot foi apedrejado e morto.
15 When Jezebel heard that Naboth had been stoned to death, she said to Ahab, 'Get up! Takepossession of the vineyard which Naboth of Jezreel refused to sel you, for Naboth is no longer alive, he is dead.'	15 Quando ela soube que Nabot fora apedrejado e morto, foi dizer a Acab: Vai e toma posse da vinha que Nabot de Jezrael te recusara vender. Ele já não vive; está morto.
16 When Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, he got up to go down to the vineyard of Naboth of Jezreeland take possession of it.	16 Acab, tendo ouvido dizer que Nabot morrera, levantou-se e dirigiu-se para a sua vinha, para tomar posse dela.
17 Then the word of Yahweh came to Elijah the Tishbite,	17 Então a palavra do Senhor foi dirigida a Elias, o tesbita:
18 'Up! Go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, in Samaria. You will find him in Naboth's vineyard; he hasgone down to take possession of it.	18 Vai; desce ao encontro de Acab, rei de Israel, que mora em Samaria, ei-lo que desce a tomar posse da vinha de Nabot.
19 You are to say this to him, "Yahweh says this: You have committed murder and now you usurp aswel . For this -- and Yahweh says this -- in the place where the dogs licked the blood of Naboth, the dogs will lickyour blood too." '	19 Dir-lhe-ás: Isto diz o Senhor: Mataste, e agora usurpas! - E ajuntarás: Eis o que diz o Senhor: No mesmo lugar em que os cães lamberam o sangue de Nabot, lamberão também o teu.
20 Ahab said to Elijah, 'So you have caught me, O my enemy!' Elijah answered, 'I have caught you! Foryour double dealing, and since you have done what is displeasing to Yahweh,	20 Acab exclamou: Encontraste-me de novo, ó meu inimigo? Sim!, respondeu Elias. Porque te vendeste para fazer o mal aos olhos do Senhor.
21 I shal now bring disaster down on you; I shal sweep away your descendants and wipe out everymanjack of the House of Ahab, fettered or free in Israel.	21 Farei cair o mal sobre ti, varrer-te-ei, exterminarei da família de Acab em Israel todo varão, seja escravo ou livre.
22 I shal treat your House as I treated the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat and of Baasha son of Ahijah,for provoking my anger and leading Israel into sin.	22 Farei de tua casa o que fiz da de Jeroboão, filho de Nabat, e da de Baasa, filho de Aías, porque me provocaste à ira e arrastaste Israel ao pecado.
23 (Against Jezebel too Yahweh spoke these words, "The dogs wil eat Jezebel in the Field of Jezreel.")	23 E eis agora o que diz o Senhor contra Jezabel: Os cães devorarão Jezabel na terra de Jezrael.
24 Those of Ahab's family who die in the city, the dogs wil eat; and those who die in the open country,the birds of the air wil eat.'	24 Todo membro da família de Acab que morrer na cidade será devorado pelos cães, e o que morrer no campo será comido pelas aves do céu.
25 And indeed there never was anyone like Ahab for double dealing and for doing what is displeasing toYahweh, urged on by Jezebel his wife.	25 Com efeito, não houve ninguém que praticasse tanto o mal aos olhos do Senhor como Acab, excitado como era por sua mulher Jezabel.
26 He behaved in the most abominable way, adhering to idols, just as the Amorites had, whom Yahwehhad dispossessed for the Israelites.	26 Levou a abominação ao extremo, seguindo os ídolos dos amorreus, que o Senhor tinha expulsado de diante dos israelitas.
27 When Ahab heard these words, he tore his garments and put sackcloth next to his skin and fasted; heslept in the sackcloth; he walked with slow steps.	27 Ouvindo estas palavras, Acab rasgou suas vestes, cobriu-se com um saco e jejuou; dormia, envolto no saco e andava a passos lentos.
28 Then the word of Yahweh came to Elijah the Tishbite,	28 Então a Palavra do Senhor foi dirigida a Elias, o tesbita, nestes termos:
29 'Have you seen how Ahab has humbled himself before me? Since he has humbled himself before me,I shal not bring the disaster in his days; I shal bring the disaster down on his House in his son's days.'	29 Viste como Acab se humilhou diante de mim? Pois que ele assim procedeu, não mandarei o castigo durante a sua vida, mas nos dias de seu filho farei vir a catástrofe sobre a sua casa.
