1 After Ehud's death, however, the Israelites again offended the LORD.	1 Après la mort d'Ehud les Israélites recommencèrent à faire ce qui est mal aux yeux de Yahvé,
2 So the LORD allowed them to fall into the power of the Canaanite king, Jabin, who reigned in Hazor. The general of his army was Sisera, who dwelt in Harosheth-ha-goiim.	2 et Yahvé les livra à Yabîn, roi de Canaan, qui régnait à Haçor. Le chef de son armée était Sisera, quihabitait à Haroshèt-ha-Goyim.
3 But the Israelites cried out to the LORD; for with his nine hundred iron chariots he sorely oppressed the Israelites for twenty years.	3 Alors les Israélites poussèrent des gémissements vers Yahvé. Car Yabîn avait 900 chars de fer et ilavait opprimé durement les Israélites pendant vingt ans.
4 At this time the prophetess Deborah, wife of Lappidoth, was judging Israel.	4 En ce temps-là Débora, une prophétesse, femme de Lappidot, jugeait Israël.
5 She used to sit under Deborah's palm tree, situated between Ramah and Bethel in the mountain region of Ephraim, and there the Israelites came up to her for judgment.	5 Elle siégeait sous le palmier de Débora entre Rama et Béthel, dans la montagne d'Ephraïm, et lesIsraélites allaient vers elle pour obtenir justice.
6 She sent and summoned Barak, son of Abinoam, from Kedesh of Naphtali. "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, commands," she said to him; "go, march on Mount Tabor, and take with you ten thousand Naphtalites and Zebulunites.	6 Elle envoya chercher Baraq, fils d'Abinoam de Qédesh en Nephtali et lui dit: "Yahvé, Dieu d'Israël,n'a-t-il pas ordonné: Va, marche vers le mont Tabor et prends avec toi 10.000 hommes des fils de Nephtali et desfils de Zabulon.
7 I will lead Sisera, the general of Jabin's army, out to you at the Wadi Kishon, together with his chariots and troops, and will deliver them into your power."	7 J'attirerai vers toi au torrent du Qishôn Sisera, le chef de l'armée de Yabîn, avec ses chars et sestroupes, et je le livrerai entre tes mains?"
8 But Barak answered her, "If you come with me, I will go; if you do not come with me, I will not go."	8 Baraq lui répondit: "Si tu viens avec moi, j'irai, mais si tu ne viens pas avec moi, je n'irai pas, car je nesais pas en quel jour l'Ange de Yahvé me donnera le succès" --
9 "I will certainly go with you," she replied, "but you shall not gain the glory in the expedition on which you are setting out, for the LORD will have Sisera fall into the power of a woman." So Deborah joined Barak and journeyed with him to Kedesh.	9 "J'irai donc avec toi, lui dit-elle; seulement, dans la voie où tu marches, l'honneur ne sera pas pour toi,car c'est entre les mains d'une femme que Yahvé livrera Sisera." Alors Débora se leva et, avec Baraq, elle serendit à Qédesh.
10 Barak summoned Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh, and ten thousand men followed him. Deborah also went up with him.	10 Baraq convoqua Zabulon et Nephtali. 10.000 hommes le suivirent et Débora monta avec lui.
11 Now the Kenite Heber had detached himself from his own people, the descendants of Hobab, Moses' brother-in-law, and had pitched his tent by the tere-binth of Zaanannim, which was near Kedesh.	11 Héber, le Qénite, s'était séparé de la tribu de Qayîn et du clan des fils de Hobab, beau-père de Moïse;il avait planté sa tente près du chêne de Caanannim, non loin de Qédesh.
12 It was reported to Sisera that Barak, son of Abinoam, had gone up to Mount Tabor.	12 On annonça à Sisera que Baraq, fils d'Abinoam, était monté sur le mont Tabor.
13 So Sisera assembled from Harosheth-ha-goiim at the Wadi Kishon all nine hundred of his iron chariots and all his forces.	13 Sisera convoqua tous ses chars, 900 chars de fer, et toutes les troupes qu'il avait, de Haroshèt-ha-Goyim au torrent du Qishôn.
14 Deborah then said to Barak, "Be off, for this is the day on which the LORD has delivered Sisera into your power. The LORD marches before you." So Barak went down Mount Tabor, followed by his ten thousand men.	14 Débora dit à Baraq: "Lève-toi, car voici le jour où Yahvé a livré Sisera entre tes mains. Oui! Yahvéne marche-t-il pas devant toi?" Et Baraq descendit du mont Tabor avec 10.000 hommes derrière lui.
15 And the LORD put Sisera and all his chariots and all his forces to rout before Barak. Sisera himself dismounted from his chariot and fled on foot.	15 Yahvé frappa de panique Sisera, tous ses chars et toute son armée devant Baraq. Sisera, descendantde son char, s'enfuit à pied.
16 Barak, however, pursued the chariots and the army as far as Harosheth-ha-goiim. The entire army of Sisera fell beneath the sword, not even one man surviving.	16 Baraq poursuivit les chars et l'armée jusqu'à Haroshèt-ha-Goyim. Toute l'armée de Sisera tomba sousle tranchant de l'épée et pas un homme n'échappa.
17 Sisera, in the meantime, had fled on foot to the tent of Jael, wife of the Kenite Heber, since Jabin, king of Hazor, and the family of the Kenite Heber were at peace with one another.	17 Sisera cependant s'enfuyait à pied dans la direction de la tente de Yaël, femme de Héber le Qénite,car la paix régnait entre Yabîn, roi de Haçor, et la maison de Héber le Qénite.
18 Jael went out to meet Sisera and said to him, "Come in, my lord, come in with me; do not be afraid." So he went into her tent, and she covered him with a rug.	18 Yaël, sortant au-devant de Sisera, lui dit: "Arrête-toi, Monseigneur, arrête-toi chez moi. Ne crainsrien!" Il s'arrêta chez elle sous la tente et elle le recouvrit d'un tapis.
19 He said to her, "Please give me a little water to drink. I am thirsty." But she opened a jug of milk for him to drink, and then covered him over.	19 Il lui dit: "Donne-moi à boire un peu d'eau, je te prie, car j'ai soif." Elle ouvrit l'outre où était le lait,le fit boire et le recouvrit de nouveau.
20 "Stand at the entrance of the tent," he said to her. "If anyone comes and asks, 'Is there someone here?' say, 'No!'"	20 Il lui dit: "Tiens-toi à l'entrée de la tente, et si quelqu'un vient, t'interroge et dit: Y a-t-il un hommeici? Tu répondras: Non."
21 Instead Jael, wife of Heber, got a tent peg and took a mallet in her hand. While Sisera was sound asleep, she stealthily approached him and drove the peg through his temple down into the ground, so that he perished in death.	21 Mais Yaël, femme de Héber, prit un piquet de la tente, saisit un marteau dans sa main et,s'approchant de lui doucement, elle lui enfonça dans la tempe le piquet, qui se planta en terre. Il dormaitprofondément, épuisé de fatigue, c'est ainsi qu'il mourut.
22 Then when Barak came in pursuit of Sisera, Jael went out to meet him and said to him, "Come, I will show you the man you seek." So he went in with her, and there lay Sisera dead, with the tent peg through his temple.	22 Et voici que Baraq survint, poursuivant Sisera. Yaël sortit au-devant de lui: "Viens, lui dit-elle, et jete ferai voir l'homme que tu cherches." Il entra chez elle: Sisera gisait mort, le piquet dans la tempe.
23 Thus on that day God humbled the Canaanite king, Jabin, before the Israelites;	23 Dieu humilia donc en ce jour Yabîn, roi de Canaan, devant les Israélites.
24 their power weighed ever heavier upon him, till at length they destroyed the Canaanite king, Jabin.	24 La main des Israélites s'appesantit de plus en plus durement sur Yabîn, roi de Canaan, jusqu'à cequ'ils aient supprimé Yabîn, roi de Canaan.
