Deuteronomy 5

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	SMITH VAN DYKE
1 Moses summoned all Israel and said to them, "Hear, O Israel, the statutes and decrees which I proclaim in your hearing this day, that you may learn them and take care to observe them.	1 ودعا موسى جميع اسرائيل وقال لهم. اسمع يا اسرائيل الفرائض والاحكام التي اتكلم بها في مسامعكم اليوم وتعلّموها واحترزوا لتعملوها.
2 The LORD, our God, made a covenant with us at Horeb;	2 الرب الهنا قطع معنا عهدا في حوريب.
3 not with our fathers did he make this covenant, but with us, all of us who are alive here this day.	3 ليس مع آبائنا قطع الرب هذا العهد بل معنا نحن الذين هنا اليوم جميعا احياء.
4 The LORD spoke with you face to face on the mountain from the midst of the fire.	4 وجها لوجه تكلم الرب معنا في الجبل من وسط النار.
5 Since you were afraid of the fire and would not go up the mountain, I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to announce to you these words of the LORD:	5 انا كنت واقف بين الرب وبينكم في ذلك الوقت لكي اخبركم بكلام الرب. لانكم خفتم من اجل النار ولم تصعدوا الى الجبل. فقال
6 'I, the LORD, am your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that place of slavery.	6 انا هو الرب الهك الذي اخرجك من ارض مصر من بيت العبودية.
7 You shall not have other gods besides me.	7 لا يكن لك آلهة اخرى امامي.
8 You shall not carve idols for yourselves in the shape of anything in the sky above or on the earth below or in the waters beneath the earth;	8 لا تصنع لك تمثالا منحوتا صورة ما مما في السماء من فوق وما في الارض من اسفل وما في الماء من تحت الارض.
9 you shall not bow down before them or worship them. For I, the LORD, your God, am a jealous God, inflicting punishments for their fathers' wickedness on the children of those who hate me, down to the third and fourth generation	9 لا تسجد لهنّ ولا تعبدهنّ لاني انا الرب الهك اله غيور. افتقد ذنوب الآباء في الابناء وفي الجيل الثالث والرابع من الذين يبغضونني
10 but bestowing mercy, down to the thousandth generation, on the children of those who love me and keep my commandments.	10 واصنع احسانا الى الوف من محبيّ وحافظي وصاياي.
11 'You shall not take the name of the LORD, your God, in vain. For the LORD will not leave unpunished him who takes his name in vain.	11 لا تنطق باسم الرب الهك باطلا. لان الرب لا يبرئ من نطق باسمه باطلا.
12 'Take care to keep holy the sabbath day as the LORD, your God, commanded you.	12 احفظ يوم السبت لتقدسه كما اوصاك الرب الهك.
13 Six days you may labor and do all your work;	13 ستة ايام تشتغل وتعمل جميع اعمالك.
14 but the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD, your God. No work may be done then, whether by you, or your son or daughter, or your male or female slave, or your ox or ass or any of your beasts, or the alien who lives with you. Your male and female slave should rest as you do.	14 واما اليوم السابع فسبت للرب الهك لا تعمل فيه عملا ما انت وابنك وابنتك وعبدك وامتك وثورك وحمارك وكل بهائمك ونزيلك الذي في ابوابك لكي يستريح عبدك وامتك مثلك.
15 For remember that you too were once slaves in Egypt, and the LORD, your God, brought you from there with his strong hand and outstretched arm. That is why the LORD, your God, has commanded you to observe the sabbath day.	15 واذكر انك كنت عبدا في ارض مصر فاخرجك الرب الهك من هناك بيد شديدة وذراع ممدودة. لاجل ذلك اوصاك الرب الهك ان تحفظ يوم السبت.
16 'Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD, your God, has commanded you, that you may have a long life and prosperity in the land which the LORD, your God, is giving you.	16 اكرم اباك وامك كما اوصاك الرب الهك لكي تطول ايامك ولكي يكون لك خير على الارض التي يعطيك الرب الهك.
17 'You shall not kill.	17 لا تقتل.
18 'You shall not commit adultery.	18 ولا تزن.
19 'You shall not steal.	19 ولا تسرق.
20 'You shall not bear dishonest witness against your neighbor.	20 ولا تشهد على قريبك شهادة زور.
21 'You shall not covet your neighbor's wife. 'You shall not desire your neighbor's house or field, nor his male or female slave, nor his ox or ass, nor anything that belongs to him.'	21 ولا تشته امرأة قريبك ولا تشته بيت قريبك ولا حقله ولا عبده ولا امته ولا ثوره ولا حماره ولا كل ما لقريبك.
22 "These words, and nothing more, the LORD spoke with a loud voice to your entire assembly on the mountain from the midst of the fire and the dense cloud. He wrote them upon two tablets of stone and gave them to me.	22 هذه الكلمات كلم بها الرب كل جماعتكم في الجبل من وسط النار والسحاب والضباب وصوت عظيم ولم يزد. وكتبها على لوحين من حجر واعطاني اياها
23 But when you heard the voice from the midst of the darkness, while the mountain was ablaze with fire, you came to me in the person of all your tribal heads and elders,	23 فلما سمعتم الصوت من وسط الظلام والجبل يشتعل بالنار تقدمتم اليّ جميع رؤساء اسباطكم وشيوخكم
24 and said, 'The LORD, our God, has indeed let us see his glory and his majesty! We have heard his voice from the midst of the fire and have found out today that a man can still live after God has spoken with him.	24 وقلتم هوذا الرب الهنا قد ارانا مجده وعظمته وسمعنا صوته من وسط النار. هذا اليوم قد رأينا ان الله يكلم الانسان ويحيا.
25 But why should we die now? Surely this great fire will consume us. If we hear the voice of the LORD, our God, any more, we shall die.	25 واما الآن فلماذا نموت. لان هذه النار العظيمة تاكلنا. ان عدنا نسمع صوت الرب الهنا ايضا نموت.
26 For what mortal has heard, as we have, the voice of the living God speaking from the midst of fire, and survived?	26 لانه من هو من جميع البشر الذي سمع صوت الله الحي يتكلم من وسط النار مثلنا وعاش.
27 Go closer, you, and hear all that the LORD, our God, will say, and then tell us what the LORD, our God, tells you; we will listen and obey.'	27 تقدم انت واسمع كل ما يقول لك الرب الهنا وكلمنا بكل ما يكلمك به الرب الهنا فنسمع ونعمل.
28 "The LORD heard your words as you were speaking to me and said to me, 'I have heard the words these people have spoken to you, which are all well said.	28 فسمع الرب صوت كلامكم حين كلمتموني وقال لي الرب سمعت صوت كلام هؤلاء الشعب الذي كلموك به. قد احسنوا في كل ما تكلموا.
29 Would that they might always be of such a mind, to fear me and to keep all my commandments! Then they and their descendants would prosper forever.	29 يا ليت قلبهم كان هكذا فيهم حتى يتّقوني ويحفظوا جميع وصاياي كل الايام لكي يكون لهم ولاولادهم خير الى الابد.
30 Go, tell them to return to their tents.	30 اذهب قل لهم. ارجعوا الى خيامكم.
31 Then you wait here near me and I will give you all the commandments, the statutes and decrees you must teach them, that they may observe them in the land which I am giving them to possess.'	31 واما انت فقف هنا معي فاكلمك بجميع الوصايا والفرائض والاحكام التي تعلّمهم فيعملونها في الارض التي انا اعطيهم ليمتلكوها.
32 "Be careful, therefore, to do as the LORD, your God, has commanded you, not turning aside to the right or to the left,	32 فاحترزوا لتعملوا كما امركم الرب الهكم. لا تزيغوا يمينا ولا يسارا.
33 but following exactly the way prescribed for you by the LORD, your God, that you may live and prosper, and may have long life in the land which you are to occupy.	33 في جميع الطريق التي اوصاكم بها الرب الهكم تسلكون لكي تحيوا ويكون لكم خير وتطيلوا الايام في الارض التي تمتلكونها
