Zechariah 7

1 In the fourth year of Darius the king (the word of the LORD came to Zechariah), on the fourth day of Chislev, the ninth month,	1 E avvenne nel quarto anno di Dario, che fu fatta la parola di Dio a Zaccaria (profeta), nel quarto dì del mese VIIII, il quale si chiamava, secondo quella lingua, CASLEU, (cioè decembre).
2 Bethelsarezer sent Regemmelech and his men to implore favor of the LORD	2 E mandaro alla casa del Signore uno che avea nome Sarasar, e uno altro che si chiamava Rogommelec, è li uomini ch' erano con lui, a pregare la faccia di Dio,
3 and to ask the priests of the house of the LORD of hosts, and the prophets, "Must I mourn and abstain in the fifth month as I have been doing these many years?"	3 per dirlo alli sacerdoti della casa di Dio delli esèrciti, e per parlare alli profeti; e diceva: or debbo io piangere nel quinto mese, ovvero ch' io mi debbo santificare, sì come io ho fatto già per molti anni?
4 Thereupon this word of the LORD of hosts came to me:	4 E fu fatta la parola del Signore delli esèrciti, e disse:
5 Say to all the people of the land and to the priests: When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and in the seventh month these seventy years, was it really for me that you fasted?	5 Parla a tutto il popolo della terra, e alli sacerdoti, e di': conciosiacosa che voi digiunaste e piangeste nel quinto e nel settimo (mese) per questi LXX anni, ditemi: faceste voi lo digiuno a me?
6 And when you were eating and drinking, was it not for yourselves that you ate, and for yourselves that you drank?	6 E quando voi mangiaste e beveste, or non mangiaste a voi medesimi, e beveste a voi medesimi?
7 Were not these the words which the LORD spoke through the former prophets, when Jerusalem and the surrounding cities were inhabited and at peace, when the Negeb and the foothills were inhabited?	7 Or non sono queste le parole, le quali parloe lo Signore in mano delli primi profeti, quando Ierusalem era ancora abitata, ed era ricca, [lei] e le sue cittadi ch' erano nel suo circuito, ed era abitata dalla parte d'austro e nelli campi?
8 (This word of the LORD came to Zechariah:	8 E fu fatta la parola di Dio a Zaccaria, disse:
9 Thus says the LORD of hosts:) Render true judgment, and show kindness and compassion toward each other.	9 [Questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti]: giudicate lo giudicio vero, e fate la misericordia, ciascuno col suo fratello.
10 Do not oppress the widow or the orphan, the alien or the poor; do not plot evil against one another in your hearts.	10 E non fate calunnia alla vedova nè allo pupillo, nè al forestiere nè al povero; e ancora niuno uomo pensi male nel suo cuore contro al suo fratello.
11 But they refused to listen; they stubbornly turned their backs and stopped their ears so as not to hear.	11 E non volsono udire, ma volsero le spalle, e andàronsene; e otturarono le loro orecchie, acciò che non udissono.
12 And they made their hearts diamondhard so as not to hear the teaching and the message that the LORD of hosts had sent by his spirit through the former prophets.	12 E lo loro cuore puosero come diamante per non udire la legge, e le parole le quali mandò lo Signore nel suo spirito per mano delli primi profeti; e fu fatta grande indegnazione dal Signore delli esèrciti.
13 Then the LORD of hosts in his great anger said that, as they had not listened when he called, so he would not listen when they called,	13 E fu fatto com' egli parlò, e non udirono; e così grideranno, e io non li esaudirò, dice il Signore delli esèrciti.
14 but would scatter them with a whirlwind among all the nations that they did not know. Thus the land was left desolate after them with no one traveling to and fro; they made the pleasant land into a desert.	14 E io li sparsi per tutti li reami li quali loro non seppono, e la terra fu desolata da loro, però che non vi passava alcuno; e feciono diserta la terra desiderabile.
