Amos 8

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	Biblia Tysiąclecia
1 This is what the Lord GOD showed me: a basket of ripe fruit.	1 To mi ukazał Pan Bóg: oto kosz dojrzałych owoców.
2 "What do you see, Amos?" he asked. I answered, "A basket of ripe fruit." Then the LORD said to me: The time is ripe to have done with my people Israel; I will forgive them no longer.	2 I zapytał: Co ty widzisz, Amosie? Odpowiedziałem: Kosz dojrzałych owoców. Rzekł Pan do mnie: Dojrzał do kary lud mój izraelski. Nie będę już dłużej go oszczędzał.
3 The temple songs shall become wailings on that day, says the Lord GOD. Many shall be the corpses, strewn everywhere.--Silence!	3 Tego dnia pieśni dworskie zamienią się w lamenty - wyrocznia Pana Boga - mnóstwo trupów, na każdym miejscu rozrzucone, cisza!
4 Hear this, you who trample upon the needy and destroy the poor of the land!	4 Słuchajcie tego wy, którzy gnębicie ubogiego i bezrolnego pozostawiacie bez pracy,
5 "When will the new moon be over," you ask, "that we may sell our grain, and the sabbath, that we may display the wheat? We will diminish the ephah, add to the shekel, and fix our scales for cheating!	5 którzy mówicie: Kiedyż minie nów księżyca, byśmy mogli sprzedawać zboże? Kiedyż szabat, byśmy mogli otworzyć spichlerz? A będziemy zmniejszać efę, powiększać sykl i wagę podstępnie fałszować.
6 We will buy the lowly man for silver, and the poor man for a pair of sandals; even the refuse of the wheat we will sell!"	6 Będziemy kupować biednego za srebro, a ubogiego za parę sandałów i plewy pszeniczne będziemy sprzedawać.
7 The LORD has sworn by the pride of Jacob: Never will I forget a thing they have done!	7 Przysiągł Pan na dumę Jakuba: Nie zapomnę nigdy wszystkich ich uczynków.
8 Shall not the land tremble because of this, and all who dwell in it mourn, While it rises up and tosses like the Nile, and settles back like the river of Egypt?	8 Czyż z tego powodu ziemia nie zadrży i czyż nie będą lamentować wszyscy jej mieszkańcy, i nie wzbierze wszystko jak Nil, wzburzy się i opadnie jak Nil w Egipcie?
9 On that day, says the Lord GOD, I will make the sun set at midday and cover the earth with darkness in broad daylight.	9 Owego dnia - wyrocznia Pana Boga - zajdzie słońce w południe i w dzień świetlany zaciemnię ziemię.
10 I will turn your feasts into mourning and all your songs into lamentations. I will cover the loins of all with sackcloth and make every head bald. I will make them mourn as for an only son, and bring their day to a bitter end.	10 Zamienię święta wasze w żałobę, a wszystkie wasze pieśni w lamentacje; nałożę na wszystkie biodra wory, a na wszystkie głowy [sprowadzę] łysinę i uczynię żałobę jak po jedynaku, a dni ostatnie jakby dniem goryczy.
11 Yes, days are coming, says the Lord GOD, when I will send famine upon the land: Not a famine of bread, or thirst for water, but for hearing the word of the LORD.	11 Oto nadejdą dni - wyrocznia Pana Boga - gdy ześlę głód na ziemię, nie głód chleba ani pragnienie wody, lecz głód słuchania słów Pańskich.
12 Then shall they wander from sea to sea and rove from the north to the east In search of the word of the LORD, but they shall not find it.	12 Wtedy błąkać się będą od morza do morza, z północy na wschód będą krążyli, by znaleźć słowo Pańskie, lecz go nie znajdą.
13 On that day, fair virgins and young men shall faint from thirst;	13 W dzień ten pomdleją z pragnienia piękne dziewice i młodzieńcy.
14 Those who swear by the shameful idol of Samaria, "By the life of your god, O Dan!" "By the life of your love, O Beersheba!" those shall fall, never to rise again.	14 Ci, którzy przysięgają na winę Samarii i mówią: Na życie twego boga, Danie!; na życie boga, Beer-Szebo! - upadną i już nie powstaną.
