Hosea 5

1 Hear this, O priests, Pay attention, O house of Israel, O household of the king, give ear! It is you who are called to judgment. For you have become a snare at Mizpah, and a net spread upon Tabor.	1 Écoutez ceci, prêtres; sois attentive, maison d’Israël, et toi maison du roi, prête l’oreille, car cette sentence vous concerne: Vous avez été un piège à Mispa et un filet tendu sur le Thabor.
2 In their perversity they have sunk into wickedness, and I am rejected by them all.	2 Ce sont eux qui ont creusé la fosse de Chittim, et je vais tous les corriger.
3 I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hidden from me; Now Ephraim has played the harlot, Israel is defiled.	3 Je connais Éphraïm, et Israël ne m’est pas inconnu. Oui, tu t’es prostitué Éphraïm, et toi Israël, tu t’es souillé.
4 Their deeds do not allow them to return to their God; For the spirit of harlotry is in them, and they do not recognize the LORD.	4 Leurs fautes sont telles qu’ils ne peuvent revenir vers leur Dieu. Un esprit de prostitution les possède et ils ne connaissent pas Yahvé.
5 The arrogance of Israel bears witness against him; Ephraim stumbles in his guilt, and Judah stumbles with them.	5 L’orgueil d’Israël témoigne contre lui, Israël et Éphraïm sont en crise à cause de leur péché, et Juda est en crise avec eux.
6 With their flocks and their herds they shall go to seek the LORD, but they shall not find him; he has withdrawn himself from them.	6 Ils iront chercher Yahvé avec leurs brebis et leurs bœufs, mais ils ne le trouveront pas, car il s’est retiré d’eux.
7 They have been untrue to the LORD, for they have begotten illegitimate children; Now shall the new moon devour them together with their fields.	7 Ils ont trahi Yahvé, ils ont enfanté des bâtards: le destructeur peut les dévorer, eux et leurs champs.
8 Blow the horn in Gibeah, the trumpet in Ramah! Sound the alarm in Beth-aven: "Look behind you, O Benjamin!"	8 Sonnez du cor à Guibéa et de la trompette à Rama, donnez l’alerte à Beth-Aven. On est sur tes pas, Benjamin!
9 Ephraim shall become a waste on the day of chastisement: Against the tribes of Israel I announce what is sure to be.	9 Éphraïm connaîtra une ruine au jour de son châtiment, et je fais savoir aux tribus d’Israël que la décision est prise.
10 The princes of Judah have become like those that move a boundary line; Upon them I will pour out my wrath like water.	10 Les chefs de Juda sont comme ceux qui déplacent les bornes, je déverserai sur eux ma colère comme de l’eau.
11 Is Ephraim maltreated, his rights violated? No, he has willingly gone after filth!	11 Éphraïm est un oppresseur, il dicte des sentences injustes, il trouve plaisir à courir après le mensonge.
12 I am like a moth for Ephraim, like maggots for the house of Judah.	12 C’est pourquoi je veux être comme la mite pour Éphraïm, comme une carie dans la maison de Juda.
13 When Ephraim saw his infirmity, and Judah his sore, Ephraim went to Assyria, and Judah sent to the great king. But he cannot heal you nor take away your sore.	13 Quand Éphraïm a vu sa maladie, et Juda son ulcère, Éphraïm est allé en Assyrie, il a envoyé des messagers vers le grand roi. Mais il ne sera pas capable de vous guérir, ni d’apporter un remède à votre ulcère.
14 For I am like a lion to Ephraim, like a young lion to the house of Judah; It is I who rend the prey and depart, I carry it away and no one can save it from me.	14 Oui, je serai comme un lion pour Éphraïm, comme un jeune lion pour la maison de Juda. Je déchirerai et je m’en irai, j’emporterai ma proie et personne ne délivrera.
15 I will go back to my place until they pay for their guilt and seek my presence.	15 Je partirai et je rentrerai chez moi jusqu’à ce qu’ils reconnaissent leurs fautes et qu’ils cherchent ma face. Dans leur détresse ils me rechercheront:
