Ezekiel 35

1 Thus the word of the LORD came to me:	1 La parola del Signore mi fu indirizzata in questi termini:
2 Son of man, set your face against Mount Seir, and prophesy against it.	2 « Figlio dell'uomo, volgi la tua faccia verso il monte di Seir, e profetizza contro di lui, e digli:
3 Say to it: Thus says the Lord GOD: See! I am coming at you, Mount Seir. I will stretch out my hand against you and make you a desolate waste.	3 Così parla il Signore Dio: Eccomi a te, o monte di Seir: io stenderò sopra di te la mia mano, e ti renderò desolato e deserto.
4 Your cities I will turn into ruins, and you shall be a waste; thus you shall know that I am the LORD.	4 Demolirò le tue città, e tu resterai un deserto, e saprai ch'io sono il Signore.
5 Because you never let die your hatred for the Israelites, whom you delivered over to the power of the sword at the time of their trouble, when their crimes came to an end,	5 Perchè tu sei stato nemico eterno, e hai rinchiusi i figli d'Israele sotto il potere della spada nel tempo della loro sventura, nel tempo del loro male estremo,
6 therefore, as I live, says the Lord GOD, you have been guilty of blood, and blood, I swear, shall pursue you.	6 per questo, io vivo! — dice il Signore Dio. — Ti abbandonerò al sangue, e il sangue ti perseguiterà: tu odii il sangue, ma il sangue ti perseguiterà.
7 I will make Mount Seir a desolate waste, and cut off from it any traveler.	7 E renderò il monte di Seir desolato e deserto e ne toglierò chi va e chi viene;
8 With the slain I will fill your hills, your valleys, and all your ravines (in them the slain shall fall by the sword):	8 e riempirò i suoi monti dei suoi uccisi: sui tuoi colli, nelle tue valli, e nei tuoi torrenti cadranno gli uccisi dalla spada.
9 desolate will I make you forever, and leave your cities without inhabitants; thus you shall know that I am the LORD.	9 Ti ridurrò a solitudini eterne, e le tue città non saranno abitate, e saprete che io sono il Signore.
10 Because you said: The two nations and the two lands have become mine; we shall possess them--although the LORD was there--	10 Perchè tu hai detto: « Le due nazioni e i due paesi saran miei, e ne avrò l'ereditario possesso, sebbene ci sia il Signore »,
11 therefore, as I live, says the Lord GOD, I will deal with you according to your anger and your envy which you have exercised (in your hatred) against them. I will make myself known among you when I judge you,	11 per questo, io vivo! — dice il Signore Dio — Ti tratterò secondo la tua collera, e secondo la tua gelosia che hai mostrata nell'odio contro di essi, e mi farò conoscere per essi, quando avrò fatto giustizia di te.
12 and you shall know that I am the LORD. I have heard all the contemptuous things you have uttered against the mountains of Israel: "They are desolate, they have been given us to devour."	12 E tu saprai che io sono il Signore. Ho sentiti tutti gli oltraggi che tu hai detti contro i monti d'Israele, dicendo: « Sono in abbandono e ci son dati, (qual preda) a divorare»,
13 I have heard the insolent and wild words you have spoken against me.	13 e vi siete inalberati contro di me colla vostra bocca, e avete scagliate contro di me le vostre parole, ed io ho sentito!
14 Thus says the Lord GOD: Just as you rejoiced over my land because it was desolate, so will I do to you.	14 Così parla il Signore Dio: Con gioia di tutta la terra io ti ridurrò in solitudine.
15 In keeping with your glee over the devastation of the inheritance of the house of Israel, so will I treat you. A waste shall you be, Mount Seir, you and the whole of Edom. Thus they shall know that I am the LORD.	15 Come ti sei rallegrato riguardo all'eredità della casa d'Israele, perchè è stata devastata, così pure farò a te: tu sarai devastato, o monte di Seir, e così tutta l'intera Idumea. E sapranno che io sono il Signore ».
