Jeremiah 48

1 Concerning Moab, thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Woe to Nebo, it is laid waste; Kiriathaim is disgraced and captured, Disgraced and overthrown is the stronghold:	1 A Moab questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti, Iddio d' Israel: guai sopra Nabo! poi ch' è guasta e confusa (e morrà); presa è Cariataim; confusa è la forte e si spaurì.
2 Moab's glory is no more. Evil they plan against Heshbon: "Come, let us put an end to her as a people." You, too, Madmen, shall be reduced to silence; behind you stalks the sword.	2 Non ci è più allegrezza in Moab; e pensarono male contro a Esebon. Venite, e scacciatela dalla gente. Adunque istando cheta tacerai, e lo coltello ti seguiterà.
3 Listen! a cry from Horonaim of ruin and great destruction!	3 La voce di romore di Oronaim: guastamento, e grande tritamento.
4 Moab is crushed, their outcry is heard in Zoar.	4 È trita Moab; annunziate lo romore alli suoi piccolini.
5 The ascent of Luhith they climb weeping; On the descent to Horonaim the cry of destruction is heard.	5 Luit salio piagnendo per lo salimento nel pianto; però che nella descensione di Oronaim li nimici udirono urlo di contrizione:
6 "Flee, save your lives, to survive like the wild ass in the desert!"	6 Fuggite, salvate le vostre anime; e sarete quasi come [miriche] nel deserto.
7 Because you trusted in your works and your treasures, you also shall be captured. Chemosh shall go into exile, his priests and princes with him.	7 Però che avesti fidanza nelle tue armature e ne' tuoi tesori, tu in verità sarai presa; e Camos anderà in transmigrazione, e li suoi sacerdoti e' suoi principi insieme.
8 The destroyer comes upon every city, not a city escapes; Ruined is the valley, wasted the plain, as the LORD has said.	8 E verrà lo predatore ad ogni terra, e nulla terra sarà salvata; e le valli periranno, e li campi saranno (dipartiti e) sconciati; però che Iddio disse:
9 Set up a memorial for Moab, for it is an utter wasteland; Its cities are turned into ruins where no one dwells.	9 Date lo fiore di Moab, per che di fuori uscirà; le sue cittadi saranno deserte e sanza abitazione.
10 (Cursed be he who does the LORD'S work remissly, cursed he who holds back his sword from blood.)	10 Maledetto lo uomo che fa l' opera del Signore Iddio fraudolentemente; e maledetto colui che vieta lo suo coltello del sangue.
11 Moab has been tranquil from his youth, has rested upon his lees; He was not poured from one flask to another, he went not into exile. Thus he kept his taste, and his scent was not lost.	11 Moab fu abbondante dalla sua fanciullezza, e riposossi nelle sue feci, e non è stato transmesso di vaso in vaso, e non andoe in transmigrazione; però rimase lo suo gusto in lui, e lo suo odore non è immutato.
12 Hence, the days shall come, says the LORD, when I will send him coopers to turn him over; they shall empty his flasks and break his jars.	12 Però, ecco, li dì vegnono, dice Iddio, e manderò loro ordinatori e facitori di barili, e lo faranno stare a basso, e attigneranno li suoi vasi, e li suoi barili si romperanno.
13 Chemosh shall disappoint Moab, as Israel was disappointed by Bethel in which they trusted.	13 E sarà confuso Moab da Camos, come è confusa la casa (sua) d' Israel da Betel, nella quale avea fidanza.
14 How can you say, "We are heroes, men valiant in war"?	14 O come dite voi: noi siamo forti uomini, e robusti a combattere?
15 The ravager of Moab and his cities advances, the flower of his youth goes down to be slaughtered, says the King, the LORD of hosts by name.	15 Moab è guastata; e le sue cittadi assalirono, e li suoi eletti giovani discesero in occisione, disse lo re; lo Signore delli esèrciti è lo suo nome.
16 Near at hand is Moab's ruin, his disaster hastens apace.	16 Presso è la morte di Moab per venire; lo suo male velocemente corre troppo.
17 Mourn for him, all you his neighbors, all you who knew him well! Say: How the strong staff is broken, the glorious rod!	17 Consolate lui, voi tutti che siete nel suo circuito; e voi che sapete lo suo nome, sì dite: come è rotta la verga forte, e la mazza gloriosa?
18 Come down from glory, sit on the ground, you that dwell in Dibon; Moab's ravager has come up against you, he has ruined your strongholds.	18 Discendi (della forza) della gloria, e siedi nella sete, abitazione della figliuola di Dibon; però che lo guastatore di Moab verrà a te, e dissiperà le tue armadure.
19 Stand by the wayside, watch closely, you that dwell in Aroer; Ask the man who flees, the woman who tries to escape: say to them, "What has happened?"	19 Istà nella via, e agguarda, abitazione di Aroer; addomanda quello che fugge, e a quello che è iscampato, die: che t'è avvenuto?
20 Moab is disgraced, yes, destroyed, howl and cry out; Publish it at the Arnon, Moab is ruined!	20 Moab è confuso, però ch' egli è vinto; urlate e gridate, e annunziate in Arnon, però che guastato è Moab.
21 For judgment has come on the land of the plateau: on Holon, Jahzah, and Mephaath,	21 E lo giudicio è venuto alla terra de' campi; sopra Elon e sopra Iasa e sopra Mefat,
22 on Dibon, Nebo, and Beth-diblathaim,	22 e sopra Dibon e sopra Nabo [e sopra] la casa del Deblataim,
23 on Kiriathaim, Beth-gamul, and Beth-meon,	23 e sopra Cariataim e sopra Beltgamul e sopra Betmaon,
24 on Kerioth and on Bozrah: on all the cities of Moab, far and near.	24 e sopra Cariot e sopra Bosra e sopra tutte le cittadi della terra di Moab, le quali sono da lungi e appresso; (tutti questi sono nomi di terre).
25 Moab's strength is broken, his might is shattered, says the LORD.	25 Lo corno di Moab sì è tagliato, e lo braccio suo confratto, dice Iddio.
26 Because he boasted against the LORD, make Moab drunk so that he retches and vomits, and he too becomes a laughingstock.	26 Inebriatelo (del calice dell' ira di Dio), però che s'è levato contro Iddio; e percoterà la mano di Moab nel suo vomito (cioè nel suo rigettare), e anco sarà dato lui in derisione.
27 Is Israel a laughingstock to you? Was she caught among thieves, that you shake your head whenever you speak of her?	27 Fu anco iscorno a te, Israel, quasi come tu l'avessi trovato tra li latroni; adunque per le tue parole, le quali tu hai parlato contro a lui, sarai menato per prigione.
28 Leave the cities, dwell in the crags, you that dwell in Moab. Be like a dove that nests out of reach on the edge of a chasm.	28 Abbandonate le cittadi, e abitate nelle pietre. voi abitatori di Moab; siate quasi come la colomba, che istà nel nido in sommo alla bocca del forame.
29 We have heard of the pride of Moab, pride beyond bounds: His loftiness, his pride, his scorn, his insolence of heart.	29 Noi aviamo udito la superbia di Moab; egli è molto superbo; la sublimità sua e la arroganza e la superbia e l'altezza del suo cuore.
30 I know, says the LORD, his arrogance; liar in boast, liar in deed.	30 Dice Iddio: io so lo suo vanto e l' arroganza; non fia appo lei la sua virtude, appresso a quello che potea fare la fortezza.
31 And so I wail over Moab, over all Moab I cry, over the men of Kir-heres I moan.	31 Però io mi lagnerò sopra Moab, e gridando dirò a tutto Moab, e alli uomini del muro fatto che si lamentavano.
32 More than for Jazer I weep over you, vineyard of Sibmah. Your tendrils trailed down to the sea, as far as Jazer they stretched. Upon your harvest, upon your vintage, the ravager has fallen.	32 Del pianto di lazer io piagnerò a te, vigna Sabama; li tuoi rami passorono il mare, pervennero infino al mare di Iazer; il predatore venne (in rovina) sopra la tua ricolta e la vendemmia.
33 Joy and jubilation are at an end in the fruit gardens of the land of Moab. I drain the wine from the wine vats, the treader treads no more, the vintage shout is stilled.	33 La letizia e l'allegrezza è tolta di Carmelo e della terra di Moab; e ho tolto lo vino de' canali, e lo follatore dell' uva non canterà più la sua usata canzone.
34 The cry of Heshbon and Elealeh is heard as far as Jahaz; they call from Zoar to Horonaim, and to Eglath-shelishiyah, for even the waters of Nimrim turn into a desert.	34 Dello romore d' Esebon insino ad Eleale e Iasa diedono la loro voce; di Segor insino ad Oronaim, come vitella che si gitta in terra; e l'acque di Nemrim seranno pessime.
35 I will leave no one in Moab, says the LORD, to offer a holocaust on the high place, or to burn incense to his gods.	35 E torrò di Moab, dice Iddio, quello che offera nelle altezze, e quelli che sacrificano alli iddii suoi.
36 Hence the wail of flutes for Moab is in my heart; for the men of Kir-heres the wail of flutes is in my heart: the wealth they acquired has perished.	36 Però lo mio cuore suonerà a Moab quasi casa di metallo; e lo mio cuore alli uomini del muro malvagio darà suono delle gambe; per che feciono più che non poterono; però perirono.
37 Every head has been made bald, every beard shaved; every hand is gashed, and the loins of all are clothed in sackcloth.	37 Ogni capo sarà calvo, e ogni barba sarà rasa; in ogni mano sarà allegatura, e sopra ogni dorso sarà cilicio.
38 On every roof of Moab and in all his squares there is mourning; I have shattered Moab like a pot that no one wants, says the LORD.	38 Sopra tutti li tetti di Moab e nelle sue piazze sarà tutto pianto; però che è trito Moab sì come vaso disutile, dice Iddio.
39 How terror seizes Moab, and wailing! How he turns his back in shame! Moab has become a laughingstock and a horror to all his neighbors!	39 Com'è allegata, e urlano? come gittò Moab lo collo, e confuso è? E sarà Moab posto per ischerno, e in esempio a tutte le genti del suo circuito.
40 For thus says the LORD: Behold, like an eagle he soars, spreads his wings over Moab.	40 Questo dice Iddio: ecco, volerà a modo d' aquila, e distese l'ali sue a Moab.
41 Cities are taken, strongholds seized: On that day the hearts of Moab's heroes are like the heart of a woman in travail.	41 Cariot sì è presa, e tutte le sue armature sono comprese; e sarà lo cuore de' forti di Moab in quello dì, come lo cuore della femina che partorisce.
42 Moab shall be destroyed, no more a people, because he boasted against the LORD.	42 E lo populo sì cesserà d'essere di Moab; però che s'è gloriato incontro a Dio.
43 Terror, pit, and trap be upon you, people of Moab, says the LORD.	43 Timore e fossa e lacciuolo sopra te, o abitatore di Moab, dice Iddio.
44 He who flees from the terror falls into the pit; He who climbs from the pit is caught in the trap; For I will bring these things upon Moab in the year of their punishment, says the LORD.	44 Chi fuggirà dalla faccia del timore (di Dio) cadrà nella fossa; e chi (sarà e) salirà della fossa sarà preso dal lacciuolo; io adducerò sopra Moab l'anno della loro visitazione, dice Iddio.
45 In Heshbon's shadow stop short the exhausted refugees; For fire breaks forth from Heshbon, and a blaze from the house of Sihon: It consumes the brow of Moab, the skull of the noisemakers.	45 Egli stettono nell' ombra di Esebon fuggenti dello lacciuolo; però che lo fuoco è uscito di Esebon, e la fiamma del mezzo di Seon, e divorerà la parte di Moab e la sommità de' figliuoli di tumulto. (Lo tumulto si è vocabolo in grammatica', che in volgare si dice quando una gente viene con grande furore).
46 Woe to you, O Moab, you are ruined, O people of Chemosh! Your sons are taken into exile, your daughters into captivity.	46 Guai a te, Moab! se' tu, popolo di Camos, perito; però che li tuoi figliuoli sono presi, e le tue figliuole sono poste in prigione.
47 But I will change the lot of Moab in the days to come, says the LORD. Thus far the judgment on Moab.	47 E convertirò la cattivitade di Moab nelli novissimi dì, dice Iddio. Infino a qui si è trattato dei giudicii di Moab.
