1 Oracle on the wastelands by the sea: Like whirlwinds sweeping in waves through the Negeb, there comes from the desert, from the fearful land,	1 Lo carico del mare deserto. Sì come la turbazione del tempo viene per lo vento affricano, del deserto viene, di terra orribile.
2 A cruel sight, revealed to me: the traitor betrays, the despoiler spoils. "Go up, Elam; besiege, O Media; I will put an end to all groaning!"	2 Una visione dura è annunciata a me: quello che non crede vive senza fede, e chi è depopulatore guasta. Sali a Elam (cioè a quella terra), e assedia Mede: io hoe fatto cessare tutto lo suo pianto.
3 Therefore my loins are filled with anguish, pangs have seized me like those of a woman in labor; I am too bewildered to hear, too dismayed to look.	3 Però li miei lombi sono pieni di dolore; l'angoscia possiede me, sì come l'angoscia del [la] parturiente; io mi spaventai quando udio, e sono turbato quando vidi.
4 My mind reels, shuddering assails me; My yearning for twilight has turned into dread.	4 Lo mio cuore venne meno, e le tenebre mi feciono stupefatto; la Babilonia, mia amanza, si è posta a me in miracolo.
5 They set the table, spread out the rugs; they eat, they drink. Rise up, O princes, oil the shield!	5 Poni la mensa, e contempla (e ragguarda); voi, mangianti e bibenti, levatevi suso; principi, pigliate lo scudo.
6 For thus says my Lord to me: Go, station a watchman, let him tell what he sees.	6 E questo disse Iddio a me: va e poni lo ragguardatore; e chiunque vede, di' che l'annunzii.
7 If he sees a chariot, a pair of horses, Someone riding an ass, someone riding a camel, Then let him pay heed, very close heed.	7 E vide uno carro di due cavalieri (a cavallo); l'uno era suso uno asino, l'altro in su uno cammello; e contemplò diligentemente con molto ragguardamento.
8 Then the watchman cried, "On the watchtower, O my Lord, I stand constantly by day; And I stay at my post through all the watches of the night.	8 E lo leone gridò: io sto sopra la guardia del Signore continuamente per lo dì; e sopra la mia guardia io sto tutte le notti.
9 Here he comes now: a single chariot, a pair of horses; He calls out and says, 'Fallen, fallen is Babylon, And all the images of her gods are smashed to the ground.'"	9 Ed ecco questo viene, come uno uomo che sta in su uno carro, e rispose e disse: cadde cadde Babilonia, e tutti li intagli de' suoi iddiï sono spezzati in terra.
10 O my people who have been threshed, beaten on my threshing floor! What I have heard from the LORD of hosts, The God of Israel, I have announced to you.	10 La mia tritura, e la mia figliuola del mio altare, io annunciarò a voi tutte le cose che io udi' dal Signore delli esèrciti.
11 Oracle on Edom: They call to me from Seir, "Watchman, how much longer the night? Watchman, how much longer the night?"	11 Lo carico di Duma grida a me delle contrade di Seir: o guardia, che venne di notte? o guardia, perchè di notte?
12 The watchman replies, "Morning has come, and again night. If you will ask, ask; come back again."	12 E la guardia disse: egli è venuto lo mattutino e la notte; se voi addomandate, addomandate; convertitevi, e venite.
13 Oracle on Arabia: In the thicket in the nomad country spend the night, O caravans of Dedanites.	13 Lo carico in Arabia. Voi dormirete la sera nel bosco, nelle vie di Dedanim.
14 Meet the thirsty, bring them water; you who dwell in the land of Tema, greet the fugitives with bread.	14 E vegnenti voi contro allo sizient?, dateli acqua, voi i quali abitate alla terra di austro; venite incontro al fuggente col pane.
15 They flee from the sword, from the whetted sword; From the taut bow, from the fury of battle.	15 Loro fuggirono dalla faccia delli coltelli, dalla faccia del coltello soprastante, dalla. faccia dell' arco disteso, dalla faccia della grave battaglia.
16 For thus says the Lord to me: In another year, like those of a hireling, all the glory of Kedar shall come to an end.	16 Però che questo dice lo Signore a me: ancora in uno anno, quasi come nell' anno di colui che aspetta la mercede, sarà tolta ogni gloria di Cedar (cioè di quella terra).
17 Few of Kedar's stalwart archers shall remain, for the LORD, the God of Israel, has spoken.	17 E lo rimanente de' saettatori forti de' figliuoli di Cedar sarà minuito; però che lo Signore Iddio d'Israel hae parlato.
