Sirach 24

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Wisdom sings her own praises, before her own people she proclaims her glory;	1 La sapienza loda se stessa e si vanta in mezzo al suo popolo.
2 In the assembly of the Most High she opens her mouth, in the presence of his hosts she declares her worth:	2 Apre la bocca nell'assemblea dell'Altissimo e si vanta dinanzi alla sua corte celeste:
3 "From the mouth of the Most High I came forth, and mistlike covered the earth.	3 "Io sono uscita dalla bocca dell'Altissimo, e come vapore ho ricoperto la terra.
4 In the highest heavens did I dwell, my throne on a pillar of cloud.	4 Ho abitato nelle altezze del cielo, avevo il trono in una colonna di nubi.
5 The vault of heaven I compassed alone, through the deep abyss I wandered.	5 Io sola ho fatto il giro del cielo e ho passeggiato nel profondo degli abissi.
6 Over waves of the sea, over all the land, over every people and nation I held sway.	6 Sui flutti del mare e su tutta la terra, in ogni popolo e nazione avevo dominio.
7 Among all these I sought a resting place; in whose inheritance should I abide?	7 Ciò nonostante ho cercato un luogo di quiete, qualcuno, nel cui podere sostare.
8 "Then the Creator of all gave me his command, and he who formed me chose the spot for my tent, Saying, 'In Jacob make your dwelling, in Israel your inheritance.'	8 Allora il Creatore di tutto mi diede un comando, il mio Creatore mi ha dato una sede per riposare e mi ha detto: Metti tenda in Giacobbe, sia in Israele la tua eredità.
9 Before all ages, in the beginning, he created me, and through all ages I shall not cease to be.	9 Egli mi ha creato nell'inizio, prima del tempo e non verrò meno, per sempre.
10 In the holy tent I ministered before him, and in Zion I fixed my abode.	10 Ho officiato davanti a lui, nella tenda sacra, risiedendo in Sion.
11 Thus in the chosen city he has given me rest, in Jerusalem is my domain.	11 Nella città che ama, mi ha fatto posare, il mio potere è ora in Gerusalemme.
12 I have struck root among the glorious people, in the portion of the LORD, his heritage.	12 Ho messo radici in un popolo glorioso, ho avuto l'eredità nella porzione del Signore.
13 "Like a cedar on Lebanon I am raised aloft, like a cypress on Mount Hermon,	13 Son cresciuta alta come cedro del Libano e come cipresso dei monti dell'Ermon.
14 Like a palm tree in En-gedi, like a rosebush in Jericho, Like a fair olive tree in the field, like a plane tree growing beside the water.	14 Son cresciuta come una palma d'Engaddi, come un roseto di Gerico, come ulivo che spicca in pianura, mi son fatta alta come platano.
15 Like cinnamon, or fragrant balm, or precious myrrh, I give forth perfume; Like galbanum and onycha and sweet spices, like the odor of incense in the holy place.	15 Ho diffuso profumo come cinnamòmo, come balsamo aromatico e come mirra, come gàlbano, ònice e storàce, come vapore d'incenso nel santuario.
16 I spread out my branches like a terebinth, my branches so bright and so graceful.	16 Stendo i miei rami come il terebinto, essi sono rami di gloria e di grazia.
17 I bud forth delights like the vine, my blossoms become fruit fair and rich.	17 Come la vite ho splendidi pampini, i miei fiori portano frutti di gloria e di ricchezza.
18 Come to me, all you that yearn for me, and be filled with my fruits;	18 Venite a me, o voi che mi desiderate, per saziarvi con i miei frutti.
19 You will remember me as sweeter than honey, better to have than the honeycomb.	19 Il mio ricordo è più dolce del miele, possedermi val più che favo di miele.
20 He who eats of me will hunger still, he who drinks of me will thirst for more;	20 Quanti mi mangiano avranno ancora fame, quanti mi bevono avranno ancora sete.
21 He who obeys me will not be put to shame, he who serves me will never fail."	21 Chi mi segue non sarà svergognato, quanti si occupano di me non peccheranno".
22 All this is true of the book of the Most High's covenant, the law which Moses commanded us as an inheritance for the community of Jacob.	22 Tutto ciò è il libro dell'alleanza del Dio altissimo, la legge che ci ha comandato Mosè e forma l'eredità delle adunanze di Giacobbe.
23 It overflows, like the Pishon, with wisdom-- like the Tigris in the days of the new fruits.	23 Essa trabocca di sapienza come il Pison e come il Tigri nei giorni delle primizie,
24 It runs over, like the Euphrates, with understanding, like the Jordan at harvest time.	24 effonde intelligenza come l'Eufrate e come il Giordano nei giorni di raccolto.
25 It sparkles like the Nile with knowledge, like the Gihon at vintage time.	25 Come luce irradia la dottrina, come il Ghicon nei giorni di vendemmia.
26 The first man never finished comprehending wisdom, nor will the last succeed in fathoming her.	26 Il primo uomo non ha finito di conoscerla, né l'ultimo la potrà investigare.
27 For deeper than the sea are her thoughts; her counsels, than the great abyss.	27 Perché i suoi pensieri sono più vasti del mare e il suo consiglio più grande dell'abisso.
28 Now I, like a rivulet from her stream, channeling the waters into a garden,	28 E io, come un condotto che parte dal fiume e come un canale che giunge nel giardino,
29 Said to myself, "I will water my plants, my flower bed I will drench"; And suddenly this rivulet of mine became a river, then this stream of mine, a sea.	29 mi son detto: "Irrigherò il mio orto, innaffierò la mia aiuola"; ed ecco che il condotto è diventato un fiume e il fiume si è mutato in mare.
30 Thus do I send my teachings forth shining like the dawn, to become known afar off.	30 Farò brillare la dottrina come l'aurora, la farò splendere in plaghe lontane.
31 Thus do I pour out instruction like prophecy and bestow it on generations to come.	31 Effonderò l'insegnamento come profezia, lo trasmetterò alle generazioni future.
	32 Vedete che non ho faticato solo per me, ma per tutti quelli che la cercano.
